grayghost 0 Posted May 1, 2002 I've checked with with both LAN and network ... legit CD's. I disabled my LAN card for the network test, I still don't know how to solve -that- problem (disabling the LAN card is usually not an option. My computer is the server for the house - and no, I don't want to buy a router) In any case ... when I host, any player who connects to me crashes ot the desktop. Note: They crash, not me. I've patched to 1.46. Anyone know why this is happening?
Mister Frag 0 Posted May 1, 2002 When do they crash? While trying to connect, or when they try to play a mission you are hosting? Are you using the dedicated server, or the regular game executable to host? You mentioned that your PC is the server for the house, are you using ICS or NAT/PAT? What about a firewall? I think it boils down to this: we need a little bit more info...
ale2999 0 Posted May 1, 2002 Mr Frag, I know u already tried to help me with this, but I have made some changes: I have winxp and I have ICS has disactivated. My firewall is still on but there is no entry for ofp as there was long time ago when I first tried doing a server. i have no idea how to configure the firewall manually. The server works the only thing is that ppl dont connect to it when I launch a game from gamespy. If any1 uses xp and can host, post it or pm some tips to help me. grayghost 0 Posted May 1, 2002 I disabled ICS ... I disabled the LAN NIC that ICS routes to as well. There is no firewall, and I'm using win98. The crashes occur when people log into my server (normal executable, not the dedicated server) I have no firewall - I /only/ boot to windows to play OFP...my box runs linux at all times save for that. theavonlady 2 Posted May 1, 2002 Can you ask any of these people to look at file Flashpoint.Rpt in OFP's base directory to see if there's a report of the crash that might give you a clue?
ALDEGA 0 Posted May 2, 2002 "LAN and network". What's the difference?
RedStorm 0 Posted May 4, 2002 You may also want to check out the addons you used. In OFP, when you put addons in your map, and later delete them, they somehow don't get out of the mission.sqm file and others can't join even though you took the addons out of the map itself. Goto the OperationFlashpoint\users\<yourusername>\missions\<missionname>\mission.sqm. Open Mission.sqm with notepad or wordpad and all the way at the top you should see the addons used. Make sure Only the regular addons are in there, no custom made addons (unless you have custom made addons in your map, and everyone that's trying to join has them too...).
