SHADY1 10 Posted August 31, 2010 and im getting 1 HIS 5970 and i plan on cross firing it with a powercolour 5870 so i can play this game on high and max settings, but iv been put off after discovering that this game does not fully support crossfire out of the box, And that you have to hack the exe files to get it to work, how ever my information is old and im wondering if the situation has changed http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-903869.html, has there been a new driver out that has addressed this problem?. digital_steve 10 Posted August 31, 2010 Yeah, the 10.8 drivers and 10.8 crossfire profiles utilise both cores on my 5970 now
enad 11 Posted August 31, 2010 I'm not sure if OA is using both GPUS on my 4870x2. But my FPS makes me think it isnt. I could get 50-60 FPS stable in A2. Now its 20-35 in OA at even lower settings! Many people I know with OA have a GTX 470 and get better performance. Oh well. I just bought an GTX 480, should solve my problems.

digital_steve 10 Posted August 31, 2010 What kind of performance increase are you seeing? Dunno if i've done enough to quantify it, but i can run it on the same AA/AF settings as Arma2 at the same frame rate (never below 50fps). Off the top of my head (i'm at work) i think i'm running 8/16, or 4/8 @ 1920x1080. Before the usage of the second core, i had to wind the settings back somewhat. PogMoThoin 10 Posted August 31, 2010 Yeah, the 10.8 drivers and 10.8 crossfire profiles utilise both cores on my 5970 now 10.08 does support crossfire, but performance is still terrible and has been in every new driver since 10.04. I tried 10.08 on release (tried every new driver on release), but I'm back using 10.04 again as the performance is so much better, I'm using the latest beta and I've got to rename the arma2oa.exe to arma2 in the beta folder (and change the shortcut to suit) to get crossfire to work 10.04 is here: http://www.ngohq.com/home.php?page=Files&go=cat&dwn_cat_id=

jimbob277 10 Posted August 31, 2010 I've noticed increases with my 2x 5850's since I installed 10.8 with the new profiles. With everything except AA maxed out, the average fps went from around 30 to around 40-45. The night-time benchmark from arma2 went from 17 fps to 25. I recently installed a SSD though, and this made a huge improvement. Previously I'd get average of 30fps but sometimes it'd drop down to less than 10.. Putting the SSD in stopped that happening and made everything silky smooth.
