A possible list of the best maps to d/l?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys. I've read a few rules and wasn't sure where to post this, so if it's in the wrong section would a mod be kind enough to move/remove it? Anyway, onto the subject!

My new PC comes TOMORROW. Great. But irrelevant to you guys. Basically, I really want to get downloading these custom missions that so many of you play, but there's so many to choose from, with so many different thread titles, and sections on armaholic, I don't know where to start and I'm just not sure how to seperate the best from the rest.

I was wondering if any of you guys could suggest some top SP and MP scenarios, missions and mods that you would personally recommend?

Thanks for your time people, these forums help make ArmA2 the most community friendly game ever.

How to find good missions in ArmA? go through the forums or armaholic, and start doing all of them in alphabetical order. Some will be crap, some you will like. Thats just the nature of the game

As you can see it is unlikely you'll get a ready-made list to choose from. What I would recommend is this:

- Look through the user missions section of this forum. Long threads may indicate interesting missions. This could get you started.

- Play a few missions and decide for yourself if you like them and if you share the opinion of the posters.

- If you like a mission, look for other missions by the same author.

- If you don't like a mission, think about the reason. I don't like missions where I have to command a lot of AI, others may not like sniper missions. Or you may not like a specific scenario, etc. Avoid such missions in future.

- Try campaigns for a change. They keep you busy for a while and they sometimes tell interesting stories.

- Try unusual settings, such as zombies or the post-apocalyptic STALKER mod. You may find you like it.

- Play online and discuss missions with other players on Teamspeak. Many people believe that online play is better than any SP-mission can ever be. There is a chance that you may not be as interested in SP-material as much once you start playing online.

I hope you find a few of these comments useful.

PS: Dale's right about "Outmanned...". It is a very good mission. Choose your difficulty wisely!

There are many, many missions out there, try them all and also get in the editor and produce some of your own, your imagination is the only stopper!
