Swaroopa 10 Posted August 16, 2010 (edited) Guys guys, Finally I'm convinced and I'm gonna be buying ARMA II: Combined Operations in another 2 hours (I cannot order from steam sitting in my work space :( ). Also, I bought Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising (waiting for delivery). Could somebody please let me know if I can play ARMAII (both SP and MP) smoothly with this computer config?? 1. AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE 3.4GHz 2. ATI Radeon 4670 1GB DDR3 3. 2GB DDR2 4. 1TB HDD 5. 24'' LCD Monitor 6. Windows XP SP2 DX9 I saw a computer specs thread which has over 500+ posts so I request you guys to post an answer. Thx. I know I can download the demo (2.66GB) but I have 786K DSL and it would take atleast a 8 hours to download. Please understand. l mandrake 9 Posted August 16, 2010 Your graphics card will struggle to output this game smoothly at 1900 x1200 unless you turn most settings down. If at all possible I would recommend a better card, ATI Radeon HD5xxx series minimum (HD5870 ideally).
Swaroopa 10 Posted August 16, 2010 Thanks for the reply sir.. But can I down the res to 1280x768 and max out all the graphics features?? I do the same with BFBC2 and it runs great (I can also do 1900x... but the framerate drops a bit during explosions)
l mandrake 9 Posted August 16, 2010 You can, it will improve framerate but the image quality won't be great (assuming your monitors native res is 1900), like putting vaseline on your screen :(
Trracer 10 Posted August 16, 2010 Run the game windowed at your desired resolution (or where you get decent fps).
Swaroopa 10 Posted August 16, 2010 Super cuz I can do that :) :) The first thing I do after going home is order the game. My next GPU will be the 5000 series but I'm broke in a way. Thanks for confirming that I can run the game. ---------- Post added at 01:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:55 PM ---------- Run the game windowed at your desired resolution (or where you get decent fps). I've plans to run this at 1280x768 or 1600x... I knew my GPU cant handle native res. I'm excited to look at the community and the mods. Super cool!!!

ziiip 1 Posted August 16, 2010 That card isnt even good enough for maxing out gfx at 1024*768...or actually running it on normal or at all.
Swaroopa 10 Posted August 17, 2010 That card isnt even good enough for maxing out gfx at 1024*768...or actually running it on normal or at all. You mean the game won't run at all?? I saw some guy on youtube running this game with nice settings on a 4670 512 MB Card and dual core processor http://il.youtube.com/watch?v=t_OcqzKComc I have to start downloading the game today. W0lle 1050 Posted August 17, 2010 Please don't start a new thread just because another thread has 500+ posts. The search function works even inside threads. The game will run, but the 4670 is indeed a bit weak. You need to play with the settings until you found a setup that allows you to run it with an acceptable performance. polar bear 10 Posted August 17, 2010 Can anyone comment on this: http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=1720830&postcount=5349 I suggested to placebo that post #1 be made a faq (as his is post #1) in the sticky thread and he replied that if I came up with the content he'd be glad to post it. It might reduce the spam if most people found their answer on page #1. Just that I'm a bit of a n00b so I may have got something wrong or maybe there's some better information that should be included, so I'd appreciate people reviewing that. If it's good we'll get it posted and hopefully see fewer threads! Cheers.

From the size of the icons this looks like a low resolution. I would really go for at least a Radeon 4850 - I have that card and the game runs fine at highest setting without Anti-Aliasing in 1920x1080.
