CBA on dedi

So how do i run CBA/CBA_OA on my dedi-OA server, without it being marked in serverlobby as "red ?" for non-CBA clients ?

I have placed the individual addons straight into our expansion\addons folder to get around this problem

so that doesnt let people without that addons run into any issues regarding gameplay?

Also,how does BE/sig check reacts to that? Doesnt it compare files to the stock game,does it?

Pls feel free to share your experience Terox,i´m curious to see

We dont run all of the CBA addons, just Extended event handlers.

We run a standalone OA server at present.

The files we actually run are

cba_extended_eventhandlers.pbo

cba_oa_main.pbo

We use these for certain serverside addons

We also offer an optional clientside only addon pack and include this in our clientside pack as some of those addons require it.

For all intents and purposes expansions folder is just a mod folder

Any mod/addon folder can contain whatever combination of addons you want, so it doesnt really matter where you place your addons from that point of view nor does it effect the key signing checking process or Battleye, because that doesnt look for addons in a specific location.

Just make sure your mission makers dont create any CBA addon dependancy missions and you will be fine.

It could create management issues trying to remember what addons are stock B.I and what addons you have copied into the expansions\addon folder, but thats not a big issue. We keep a vanilla install as a master copy and only use copies of that for game servers, so if we ever needed to reset the game server content, its just a matter of deleting the content from the server install and copying the master into it.

Doing this to get a green icon in gamespy is a no brainer decision for me :-)

I also do exactly the same for the beta patch/mod , copy the files straight from the beta folder into the expansions folder root and run the server as you would normally.

For the end result, view gamespy on a Thursday and Sunday evening at around 21:00 UK time and see which the busiest server is :-)

on a side note,doesnt that defeat the point of having addons when the mission does not require it (apart from your ZEUS_AI mod,etc. of course,which is excellent - any chance of linking me the "OA beta" part of it for download?)

The only thing i´m currently thinking of running on my server is the PROPER install (with CBA) but having a red server icon isnt the thing i appreciate when running a mod to "enhance/fix" game issues to my opinion

Guess i need to sleep over that one again :D

You just answered yourself. The 'apart from'-part is exactly the reason to have addons that aren't required by the mission itself.

We only host addons that is required by either

1) The server

2) The clients

3) The mission.

If none of those require it then ofcourse there isnt a reason to run it or the keys unless you want to support addons that are not used by your server

If the clients dont require it and the mission doesnt require it then you wont need to host the Server key for it either (afaik).

Most of the "Proper" stuff is clientside only, so you would just need to host the "Proper" Server Key for them.

Our clientside addon pack contains a selection of "Proper" addons as well

Zeus AI is Protegimus's baby. He gives me the latest DEV version to host on our server to test on our gaming nights. Once I get them, I host them on our YOMA respository with other clientside addons that we allow our players to use.

AFAIK, Protegimus didnt intend making these development versions available for public consumption, however he does not have an issue with folks using them outside of the Zeus Gaming server.

The only place you can get the beta dev is from our Yoma respository, which has been set up for our community. It includes more than Zeus AI though. On Thursdays release I shall include the server keys needed to support clients using them. Our @Zcommon addon pack is continuously updated and not publicised when it is.

Our members are told to sync with the addon repository prior to joining the server. As we run gaming nights on Sundays and Thursdays, it would be reasonable to expect that if a new dev version was available, it would be updated for those gaming nights on those evenings by say 8PM. So if I were you and you wanted to run the latest dev, then sync at those times on those days

ya,well - i know Inkompetent,but it proved better to ask a bit more questions before doing stuff to the server,which like in my case is a tiny server for (small) coops - its hard enough getting people in to play,so using mods(even if they r great) restrict my server to a even smaller crowd possible than otherwise

Therefor,you might understand - i m engaging this theme kinda carefull

I got alot of (known) keys @ the server to let people with mods enjoy their game too - but last time as i added CBA and Proper as mod to the server i spend my evening playing alone,which is funny at times too,but ... :D

Anyway thx gentlemen,that makes things easier now
