santafee 10 Posted August 2, 2010 (edited) Thread title says it. I dont think it would be a big problem, but make the overview in this section much better. Make a Section for No Addons required [same with any addons] -SP Campaigns Scenarios -MP Coop PVP and so on Also i know how hard it is to create really good missions, but i think, it would be good if people have to add a rating in their missions thread and people have to rate the mission/campagin. More feedback for the makers and less chances people release crap missions which dont work, or which i cant set up in 10 minutes in the editor. Again, no offence against beginners or anybody whos creating missions, but we need more overview and quality. just my opinion. Nearly i forgot one of th most important things here,-Addons. A non Addon,- Addon, section would be making finding missions for your personal use so much better and faster also. W0lle 1050 Posted August 2, 2010 Great idea, and because we then have 5 subforums x2 (10 in total) people all of the sudden will always post in the correct forum. Have you considered that this means even more workload for the moderators here? 98% of all mission downloaders don't give feedback at all, that won't change if we have 10 subforums. I also fail to see how this would prevent that people release "crappy" missions at all. Or shall we maybe test the missions first before we approve the thread? There are community websites around which review missions or where you can see if a mission needs an addon or not. While your idea might be not bad, the additional workload makes it impossible to happen. Besides that, we have a forum feedback thread where you could have posted this because this forum is for discussions about community created missions/campaign only. santafee 10 Posted August 2, 2010 Im sorry if thats the wrong thread! Well, its just an idea. I understand it if it makes the work for you hard working mods too much, but i dont think many people wouldnt be able to post in the right section. Lets see, whats my mission,SP, oh yea, so MP section isnt the right thread probably. I just think it would be worth splitting 2! extra threads, let it be SP and MP only. I agree with the 2x [Addons] 10 extra threads, but then let it be SP/MP. And..people really have to rate the stuff which is created. Like in the Addons section, where you can easily find very good addons with the star rating, why dont people use it in missions..?i dont get it, its just a click and if you want to give feedback, do it in the threads. What about a "mission of the month,[2 weeks] vote"?, theres so many stuff out there, makes it so hard finding good stuff.
THEBLITZ6794 10 Posted August 2, 2010 how about just adding a SP/COOP and a MP section and getting rid of the main 1...wouldnt that only add a tiny amount of work?
AnimalMother92 10 Posted August 2, 2010 Ugh, what about threads that contain SP and MP missions? Some authors prefer to keep all their content together in one thread, as it's easier to get feedback that way. Some missions work in both environments. So say somebody is hunting for a good SP mission and they decide to skip over the MP section which contains SP-compatible Coop missions etc etc. I don't think we need more sub-forums here. The rating system isn't a bad idea I guess, wouldn't hurt. But in the end it's up to the mods, who have enough on their hands as it is.
W0lle 1050 Posted August 2, 2010 (edited) The problem with the rating system is that it can (and will) be abused. There's nothing that stops the mission maker from giving his mission five stars nor from people who dislike the author to give it only one star. We seen something similar happen in the squads and fanpages forum. In the end it's more trouble than it it's worth it. There are community sites where your mission is reviewed and rated after - OFPEC for example. The reviews and ratings there are honest and if a mission gets 8 stars for example you can be sure it's something well made. Like said, the idea isn't bad. It's just that it means a lot of additional work and people abusing the rating system. I'm also not sure if ratings can enabled for just one subforum. b00tsy 28 Posted August 2, 2010 @ OP, Yes agreed some sub maps would be apriciated.
Grizzle 0 Posted August 3, 2010 I don't think we need ratings at all. I just wish mission makers would adhere to some standard naming conventions in their thread titles. That alone would solve most of the issues with finding missions. I know a lot of them try, but it's still a bit of a mess.
