T.S.C.Plage 0 Posted July 27, 2010 Because it doesn't really fits into the US politics or any other thread on that matter I post this here. War Made Easy reaches into the Orwellian memory hole to expose a 50-year pattern of government deception and media spin that has dragged the United States into one war after another from Vietnam to Iraq. Narrated by actor and activist Sean Penn, the film exhumes remarkable archival footage of official distortion and exaggeration from LBJ to George W. Bush, revealing in stunning detail how the American news media have uncritically disseminated the pro-war messages of successive presidential administrations. celery 8 Posted July 27, 2010 all this because some students killed Franz Ferdinant...think about it ;) Europe was waiting for any excuse to go to war. I doubt that single thing would have made a difference other than in the date the war began.

T.S.C.Plage 0 Posted July 27, 2010 You noticed that this documentation is about US politics and how they influenced the medias after both world wars? Actually I believe you didn't even watched it. So please stay away from this thread if you don't have to contribute anything usefull (may it be pro or contra).

pre-Vet 10 Posted July 27, 2010 yeah I did look but I was referring to the fact lenin god power in the first world war, making socialism the new enemy and after that the cold war really fucked up the balance in the world resulting in conflicts we are still fighting. I did look but its just another "the media is lying to us" documentairy ala fahrenheit 9 11. dont bother thinking this is a objective documentary please. dont know how its over in america but over here its more left media questioning everything and always putting a magnifying glass on about every mistake the goverment makes than making cover ups. I think compairing an ongoing military operation (wich obviously do have ROE's) with the 9-11 attacks (aimed solemly at making as much civilian victims as possible) a bit... out of proportion. T.S.C.Plage 0 Posted July 27, 2010 I still don't understand what you're mumbling about and how it should be related to the docu. But maybe that's what you're up to...abstracting from the important points.
NoRailgunner 0 Posted July 27, 2010 Politicians do learn about propaganda and rhetorics from the past. Guess who said: "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State." Is average Joe really interested in the truth? How many people are interested in the negotiatons between economy - politics - media? How many people are only interested in their own business and glad to live in their own shiny & happy world?
T.S.C.Plage 0 Posted July 27, 2010 Oh, a real contibution. ;) Politicians do learn about propaganda and rhetorics from the past.Guess who said: "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State." I know very well who said that but many people won't be able to draw the line between this and what is happening today. Is average Joe really interested in the truth? I'd think that if you look what happend in the past, yes, the average Joe should be very interested in the truth but unfortunately many people are simply indoctrinated to believe everything they get told by their "superiors". Some even know that something is wrong but prefere to stay blind for patriotic reasons. Besides that too many people have their own (for them) more important problems. Not to mention that people simply get blunted by the medias. Some have simply stopped to care because they think "Hey, what ever, I can't change a damn thing". How many people are interested in the negotiatons between economy - politics - media? Obviously not too much but I think the reason is more the missing transparency and not the missing interest. I myself would be very interested to know what the economy, the politics and media are negotiating behind the curtains but I'm afraid this would just fuel my suspicions against the "ruling class". How many people are only interested in their own business and glad to live in their own shiny & happy world? In a modern, free and globalised world the people should be interested in what's happening around them but actually the opposite seems to be the case. So the answer is too much. pre-Vet 10 Posted July 27, 2010 hahaha oke mate, if you think something is only an contribution when it lays in line with your opinion I dont think you differ a lot from the people where this docu is about. I just dont think this is something new. And just tired of the whole paranoia hype that is going on since 2001.
T.S.C.Plage 0 Posted July 28, 2010 You didn't watched it or simply didn't got what was said in there. Besides that which part of my "may it be pro or contra" comment you didn't understand?
nettrucker 143 Posted August 4, 2010 (edited) Hi I watched the film twice. Not that the content was really new to me, but that is how things are working out momentarily. The real power is held by capitalism which defeated democracy IMHO. Therefore I post this other link to another film, named "Why do we fight", explaning further how the actual situation is evolving. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8383084962209910782#docid=9219858826421983682 I think that it is relating somehow to "War made easy" therefore I posted this into this thread. kind regards Edited August 4, 2010 by nettrucker link was not working
