graphic issues

So, I just got arma 2 and I have a new laptop. For some reason, I cannot get the graphics to display. I tinkered around with settings for an hour before getting here. It seems like characters show, my weapon shows, so does background like dirt and stuff. Also, buildings...but I have this crazy white crap all over my screen that I can't look past. anyone got a similar issue? If needed, I'll post up my detailed specs and a screenshot of the issue.

I have Windows 7 64-bit

Intel Core i3 m330 @2.13ghz

4 gb of memory

Intel graphics media accellerator HD

All my drivers are up to date. At least for graphics are up to date with latest drivers. Any suggestions? Ideas? Or did I just buy an expensive coaster of a game.

This is the problem. In order to play ArmA2, and in fact any modern game, you need a dedicated graphics card, not an onboard chip (on the mainboard). Sadly, your laptop probably does not offer enough space inside to upgrade to a card that does run the latest games, as the components in a laptop are packed together really tightly.

Laptops are rubbish when it comes to games. The last few years, retailers have even started fooling customers into thinking that the graphics chips they ship in their laptops are top of the line by stating the amount of memory as being very high, implying that the onboard chip can do anything, mostly without mentioning that it's shared memory, so making use of (taking away rather) from the RAM. Sadly, nothing is being done about this deceptive way of doing "business".

But not even on the basic or lowest settings? I had the same problem with Age of Empires 3 with my old laptop, then I got this one, and problem solved. bah....great waste of money, yet again.

Age of empire 3 is hardly a modern game. You have 64MB of VRAM. The published minimum requirements for OA is "(...) 256 MB VRAM".

You will have the same problem with any of the later versions of CoD btw.

Your GFX delivers between 200-300 P in 3dMark Vantage. The fastest dedicated notebook chips deliver around 14.000 P. Desktops in SLI/X-Fire deliver more than 35.000 P.

Thats more than 100x your GFX performance. Go figure.

In summary, you will not really be able to play any modern 3d based game with that laptop, just some old ones.

There are minimum specs listed on the box and on the websites, if your laptop doesn't match them the game won't work.
