sound issue

Recommended Posts

hi all,

I´ve read a lot of threads regarding sound issues, but couldn´t find one suitable to my issue.

I´m experiencing strange sound issues when playing arma 2, sound is very loud, decreasing sound volume results in no effect both in game and in windows settings. particular shooting and explosion sounds are scratching and blow away my ears, even there´s silence around me when playing strange sound samples seem to be played all the time (always shooting and explosion sounds).

I´m using realtek hd onboard audio on msi board with 5.1 audio settings (windows 7 ultimate/ 64 bit). sounds are working without any problems in all other games even in arma 1.

any ideas?

Are your Realtek sound drivers up to date? I've known many people with Realtek onboard sound who experienced similar problems, and a driver update usually fixed it. :)

well thanks mate but already updated the drivers to latest stage, probably there´s a problem with the latest driver since I´m experiencing the problem since I updated the sound drivers. will try later...

Try disabling any sound enhancement features, like EAX and whatever else Realtek has (can't remember, haven't used it in years)

i hope to god i can help u.... i recently reinstalled windows and had sound issues but was gobsmacked because it was working fine on the previous install. after days of new drivers, new software etc found out the problem was simply a device on my comp conflicing with armas sound. in my case was my logitech headset. because it was usb it acts as its own sound driver (or sumin like that).

go to control panel- hardware and sound- sound, and make sure NOTHING else is set as a default device (even if its default for a different function). the green tick indicates default devices

my logitech was set as default communication device and that was my problem, i can still use it if its not the default device

good luck let us know how u go

thanks mate this is the solution! :yay:

just disabled my headset as standard device and only left my 5.1 speakers as standard device, everything works fine now!

seems this setting is neccessary when using both speakers and headset through one sound device (speakers at rear panel, headset at front panel). thanks again for your assistance!
