Hmm... Squad: Fun + Realism - RECRUITING!

Recommended Posts

BISForumBanner.jpg

Hmm... Squad is a Europe-based squad that was formed in 2002 by a group of friends committed to tactical gameplay in online games. The squad was designed to promote team-based gameplay, and to conform to a realistic use of military tactics and doctrine, whilst retaining a fun and friendly atmosphere.

Fast forward to 2008 and Hmm... Squad moved to ArmA: Combat Operations - the military simulation developed by Bohemia Interactive Studios. ArmA was to prove the real launch-pad for the squad's ideas and tactical gameplay and, with the recent release of Arma 2, the squad is gearing up for a fantastic future of fun, tactical gameplay.

Hmm... prides itself on its friendly atmosphere and small-scale, custom-made missions. The squad itself is based around a two-fireteam squad structure. Each fireteam contains four members, and these fireteams are co-ordinated by a squad-leader.

The squad loosely implements a rank structure, which bears little resemblance to any real-world army structure, and serves purely to indicate length and quality of service to the squad. However, those with higher ranks are expected to take on more responsibility within the squad.

What We Offer

  • High-quality Custom-made Missions
All of our co-op and PvP missions are custom-made to fit with the squad's ethos and requirements. A lengthy campaign, based around a fictional conflict, is currently in the making and will hopefully be released to the public in due course.
    .
  • A "Semi-Realistic" Squad
While we do focus on realistic gameplay and employ ranks in our general structure. We do keep the fun factor heavily in mind, you won't be calling anyone sir or doing drills!
    .
  • Individual Roles
As the squad utilises several roles in its combat operations, a recruit will end up specialising in a position within the squad.
    .
  • Involvement
As we are a relatively small squad (about 12-15 guys at time of writing), each new recruit is able to have a significant impact on the squad's development. The squad's direction is openly discussed and opinions are garnered from all corners of our roster!

What We Require

  • You are at least 18 years of age (mature 17-year-olds can apply).
  • You have a degree of passion for realistic gameplay and team-working.
  • You know how to have a bit of fun, and don't take yourself too seriously.

Interested?

I just wanted to add that we (Hmm... Squad) have opened our server for public use. We've got a variety of gametypes available, and voting is fully enabled at 50% majority.

You can find us in the browser, look for "[Hmm]" - or connect directly to arma2.draeath.net on the standard (2302) arma2 port.

If you have any problems etc, let us know: http://bit.ly/HmmServer

Operation Dislodge Campaign

For more information, please visit: www.hmm-squad.org

Several weeks ago, Hmm... Squad began its first full-length campaign on Chernarus: Operation Dislodge. The background is simple, but the politics are complex, and Hmm... Squad formed part of a large offensive storming the beaches of Chernarus, beginning an invasion struggle that could last many years.

It all began with a covert intelligence-gathering operation near Krasnostav. A crack team of Hmm... Squad soldiers headed silently into the night, to collect evidence about the massing of rebel forces at outposts on the southern coastline - but what they found was far more disturbing than mere maps and statistics. Pages and pages of strategy documents, plans for concentration camps, details of undercover operatives in the Chernarussian government, and perhaps most worryingly of all, a survey of suitable sites for mass burials.

So that was it, the rebels minds were made up: they were going to take Chernarus by undermining the government, undermining trust, and the silent slaughter of tens of government officials, and thousands of their civilian supporters. They wouldn't know what had hit them.

Were we going to let this carry on? No chance.

Want to enter the fray, and help us out? We're looking for like-minded individuals to join our ranks, and like-minded squads to do co-op missions with. Get in touch with us via our website.
