soupdragon 10 Posted July 22, 2010 I don't know how it works in RL but surely, if you had a sniper along with you on a night mission he would use a night scope, right? Are there any sniper night scopes in the game? in most of the missions I play if you have a sniper along with you on the mission he will be equipped with NVG's but once you try to use the scope he takes them off as as a result,............. nothing, pitch black. What is the point of taking a sniper along if he can't use the scope? Any ideas? SD
Guest Posted July 22, 2010 As in real life, you can't put a massive set of NV Goggles on and then happily look down a scope. To snipe properly at night, you will need to make sure you are equipped with a scope that has built in FLIR or Night Vision. Many of which are available in game. :) Richie. soupdragon 10 Posted July 22, 2010 Which scopes (in game) have night capability? can you be more specific please, and also how would I go about adding said scope to the rifle? Cheers SD
sparks50 0 Posted July 22, 2010 Look for rifles with the words nv-scope and nspu for NV, tws and goshawk for flir. In general, look for ridiculously big scopes. you cannot change the scope of a rifle, in real life that would cause you to loose zero.
CarlGustaffa 4 Posted July 22, 2010 M110 has a night scope that you can even turn on and off. Unless you're in some kind of stealth mission, get some going from co players who can call it in (and mission supports it). IRL you wouldn't be able to use the Arma NVGs with any sights or optics, due to being single lens. IRL NVGs would also be far less convenient; weight and cumbersomeness, loss of depth perception (which we don't have anyway), and most importantly a very narrow FOV (40° compared to the 80-90° unchanged FOV we get to have in the game). If you want to "feel" this effect in the game, try to always be in a zoomed in mode - that's how awful they are in real life :D
sparks50 0 Posted July 22, 2010 CarlGustaffa: Some holographic sights are made to be used with NVGs.
kylania 568 Posted July 22, 2010 CarlGustaffa: Some holographic sights are made to be used with NVGs. You're not gonna snipe with those either. :)
