lostatneverseen 10 Posted July 6, 2010 In Arma 2 there is two distint location settings. You have the forest area, and you have the city areas. In forest areas my FPS is very good, probably a good 50-60fps. In urban, built up areas the FPS is significantly worse. I thought graphics were supposed to be more intesive in tress, dense vegetation areas, yet in Arma games it seems to be the opposite way around. How come? Nobody knows, but it has always been that way. The devs are aware of the problem though, and it has a pretty high priority on the bug tracker, so hopefully they will manage to fix it in the near future. Steakslim 1 Posted July 6, 2010 I don't think the vegetation as "objects" are nearly as complex as many of the buildings in ArmA2 or Arrowhead for that matter. So having a bunch of fairly simple trees (short of the dreaded orange trees) will probably have less impact on your pc than a bunch of buildings packed together in a dense area. EDcase 87 Posted July 6, 2010 Wow, 50-60fps !!! What hardware? If you are on NVidia make "render ahead frames 0" and edit the profile config file ... ArmA2.cfg (do a search for it) Make sure it has these two lines and values: GPU_MaxFramesAhead=0; GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=0; See if that helps. Might sound complicated but very easy and can be returned to default if you don't like it.
