ARMA 2 Patching problems HELP NEEDED.

Recommended Posts

I can not install 1.60 update i have tried 10 times... It gaves me this error message:

ARMA 2 OA: Updating version 1.59 to version 1.60...

Update 1.59-1.60\COMMON\AIR2.PBO.UPD cannot be applied, error xdelta3 returned error code: 1

Some error occurred during patch installation.

Patch file is probably dammaged. You may need to download it again.

(everytime i try this i download new 1.60 + i disable antivirus when downloading patch and never scan it)

When i try to skip it say some other pbo error finally after few skips it just stop updating and i got Bitdefender message that is stop malicious processes?? that's by the way Bitdefender 2012 total security

not shure in this one is 1.60 or 1.59 fail...

Error in file COMMON\air2.pbo, phase 1.

Everytime i deinstall the game i deinstall BattlEye to be safe, manually delete Games\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2 and Users\Ivan\Documents\ArmA 2,

restart pc, when installing 1.60 on fresh install Arma 2 Combined Operations i lower antivirus and turn game mode i think i once tried disabling it totaly no help of course i have admin rights. So i don't get it i think i try everything.

Finaly i have gave up i wanted to return to 1.59 but now i can get this update to work. PBO ERROR AGAIN

Tell me am i stupid for trying to install 1.60 in first place because i dont have Reinforcements only light baf and pmc from Arrowhead game.

I have Arma2 505GAMES original + Operation Arrowhead BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE original.

I appreciate any help THANKS.

Just turn of the virus scanner and that bit (arma) killer crap and try again. I've seen hundreds of players that dont have this problem so you must be missing something?

I have tried disabling it totally, update stops at say at 15% no matter what.

Yes i seen those players i seen only them on multiplayer just 1 or 2 playing 1.59 only reason i wanted update to 1.60.

THX Any other suggestions?

Do i have to have Reinforcements to be able to update to 1.60? I only had Combined Operations (BAF and PMC are light) 1.59.

I just made last attempt and get same results. I definitively think that something is wrong with this update (1.60). All most all attempts were stopped by firewall with massage "Potentially malicious processes detected".

I am staying clear from this one for god. So Bohemia hurry with next patch. And i get 1.59 back (nothing stop this one), installed Arma2 then 1.09 then 1.11 and on start of installation of Arrowhead i get massage that is all ready installed and ask me do i wont to reinstall so i was forced to hit yes to install:confused. I think it is better to stay away from this update. Arma3 is close.

larsiano thank you for trying to help.

If it would be a problem with the update, don't you think that someone else from the thousands of users would also have the same or similar problem?

The problem is definitely on your side, the question is just what goes wrong there.

I would uninstall the game completely, make sure there are no files left in the folder and its removed. Then eventually use a registry cleaner to remove all remains from the previous installation.

After that do the following:

1) Install ArmA2 and run it once.

2) Install OA in the same folder as ArmA2 and run it once.

3) Install the DLCs if present

4) Patch the game to 1.60, there is no need to install any previous patches at all.

I was a fool again. Again i tried and again i had to reinstall. And again 1.59 was stopped by Bitdefender.

If it would be a problem with the update, don't you think that someone else from the thousands of users would also have the same or similar problem?

I am 100% sure i am not the only one. As i am sure that this updates require from you to put your pants down just to install them and play.

You tell me one antivirus program or even windows will let you to install Six Updater. You have to disregard all safety just to install and people dong that just to be able to play.

The problem is definitely on your side, the question is just what goes wrong there.

If you applying that i don't know to install or patch or not try everything you are wrong only thing i did not try is to set UAC (USER ACCOUNT CONTROL) all the way down and turn DEP (Data Execution Prevention) that i have only for system files. Why should i compromised my system just to get update. I think that is wrong.

But i might do just that because i can play vanilla with all the addons out there.

Ivan911, antiviruses are not foolproof, with very high probability that messages are false positives, if you still think the update is malware you should contact BitDefender and send them the patch, they probably fix the problem with next signature updates, if you have the opportunity scan the patch with other antiviruses (Kaspersky, Nod32 etc) and you will see it's a BitDefender issue

You should also check the checksums to understand if you have a genuine patch, these are the right ones as reported on the official link

CRC32: D4ED489F

MD5: CA88D10015E79ED98AAC2784E21E3C1D

SHA-1: AD50EDCC6751CDE4A302D851B70E126191055479

If the calculated checksum differs you have a corrupted patch

Kaspersky let me install every patch without even temporary disabling it. Six-Updater also just runs fine with Kaspersky enabled. I however have UAC disabled, I'm old an experienced enough so I don't need any assistance from Microcrap. :)

And even if you must temporary disable your Antivirus software for installing the patch - so what? It's not the end of the world and if you're scared disconnect from the internet for the time being.

The patch however must install correctly with UAC enabled.

The patches downloaded from official sources are free from malware. If Bitdefender tells you that they are malicious then it's a false positive or the heuristic analysis detects the file patching routine as malicious.

Thank you t0t3m i think you are right and i don't think patch is a malware but they sure behave in fashion that alarms antivirus and i was thinking to contact Bitdefender but i am a bit lazy but maybe i do when have time. I always have official updates from Bohemia thx for know how.

And W0lle

Six-Updater also just runs fine with Kaspersky enabled

Yes but i don't think kasparski would lat you install-it without you disabling it first. Am i wrong?

And even if you must temporary disable your Antivirus software for installing the patch - so what? It's not the end of the world

I am not saying that it is but i don't know lot games that require from you to do that just to update and i would like that change in Arma3.

And for Six Updater i think it is a good idea but should be more easier to install and run. I am not that experienced nor do i have money to pay for broken pc so i am playing safe man. :)

and if you're scared disconnect from the internet for the time being

I am sad to inform you that i did just that:

- disconnected from the internet

- disabled UAC

- disabled Bitdefender

- installed 1.60 (with no problem)

- run Bitdefender for Full system scan (no problemo) :p

- new @CBA

until i started the game tho

Game runs good but it looks broken, whole walls just flickering an i got lot artifacts not only in games but in movies2.

So i thought it is because new FXAA textures when i enabled them, no joy. I have tried every setting same s....

Don't know think it is from reinstalling game probably directx are broken. I have uninstall it for now. I have some other games to install hope that fix something.

So i need help guys and suggestions how to fix this.

W0lle could you help me clean the registry. I have Bitdefender registry cleaner but i am scared to clean all i heard some scary stories maybe you could help me to identify Arma staff there? I have tried to install new directX but get re that i have new already.

Here are my spec if it helps:

64-bit Windows 7

Intel core I7 2600k Sandy Bridge

Corsair H100 Hydro

Asus Sabertooth_P67-B3 MBO

ASUS 680-2GD5

16 GB Corsair_Vengeance(CMZ8GX3M2A1600C8)

Corsair TX850 PSU
