  4. Thanks for your continued efforts, roy86. We are all eagerly anticipating your next release. But You shouldn't feel obliged to give status updates when, a) you'd already done so, b) we know you're working on it, c) the chap above could have been a little more polite with his question, and c) it's against forum rules to bump for progress updates anyway.
  5. I'm always torn when it comes to these kind of things. I fully support open collaboration, sharing and learning and such a group could provide a strong focal point for the community. On the other hand, these forums, supported by the biki, already form a strong enough focal point and I would worry about diluting the pool of knowledge or spreading information resources too thinly around where people may not find them as easily.

    These days I never play without some form of weapon resting. VTS Simple Weapon Resting is the first choice although some other groups have implemented their own versions, like AGM. When playing alone or in small coops, utility stuff like MagRepack or my Quick-Release system (Cyprus QRS) can be helpful. Once you're into larger teams you may want to enhance your realism with larger mod systems like AGM, TMR or CSE etc.

    Ah, sorry to hear that. I'm able to double click and switch between the small unreadable out of the way size vs the larger similar to pressing K in game size. Didn't realise it was bugged for some.

    Search for "vietnam" in the Arma 3 mod subforums, you may find something useful - you never know ;)

    -par= start-up parameter

    I've used the -par parameter to load -mod from a text file with over 18 addons defined. I can compare character lengths when I'm back on my pc but I suspect this isn't your problem. Going back to basics, have you tried any methods by elimination? Eg try removing mods one by one from the text file and run to see when things are resolved.

    I've zero knowledge on modelling and animations and weapon configs etc. How difficult would it be conceptually to reuse a weapon attachment light as a hand held instead? Thinking out aloud here, could one somehow reconfigure it as a weapon item so the player could use it with the lowered/raises states etc and "fire" it to toggle on off? Or even use the current light on/off mechanism. Assuming you have to create an appropriate animation whatever item you end up with.

  19. Yeah apologies, I used conflicting phrases there. In my first post I was indeed asking about general use. In the second post I didn't mean something I am working on right now, I just meant at any particular time if there are no draw backs in a given use case, why wouldn't I? That's a genuine question and not an argumentative one. Aiming to improve my knowledge by learning from more experienced is all.
  20. If it is faster, achieves the same, and the caveats don't affect my particular application then, yeah, I think it is worth using it.

    Good idea to check with this as the only mod active. It's conceivable that another mod could be introducing a conflict I the key binds. Perhaps try changing them as mentioned above.

    PWS is Frustrating

    I sympathise with you, Lordprimate. I consider myself an expert pc user but even I sometimes have difficulty adapting to some of the UIs and still experience crashes on and off. But I do appreciate the challenges involved in developing such an application with so many different aspects of functionality involved. Every time I have posted for support on getsatisfaction I have received prompt replies, helpful beyond my initial expectations. And while other members of my unit are scrambling to update their mods manually last minute, or struggling to start their game for ops with complex mod lists and dependencies which ends in them getting kicked from the server, I can just sit back and enjoy the efficiency and lack of stress that PWS affords me. For free. Hang in there, mate.
