I'm saying you have 8 mags and 240 rounds in total. Who needs that? Even regular infantry don't. You're not going to Vietnam or COD.

You do realise that in many cases the amount of ammo carried is mission dependent right? Some units are given more autonomy by their commanders on how much ammo they carry and their chest rig loadouts.

My friends in the US forces have carried more than 7 mags on various occasions... As much as you'd like to think people stick to the regulations thats not always the case...

A number of other countries also issue troops with 8 magazines sometimes more so its not uncommon for that amount of ammo to be carried.

Hopefully BIS are using Vulcan in the next engine and release a native Linux version so I can ditch Windows! Vulcan works on Windows as well so it would be win-win.

Been a Windows user since Windows 3.0 and IMO MS is heading in the wrong direction with W10. W7 is still the best Windows version ever made.

I have windows 10 and in hindsight i wish i'd stayed with 7

It does seem as if Tanks will be the last DLC/meaningful update to A3.

That leads us to the this question, how long can the community remain intact playing a four year old game if there is no new development?

I'm not sure the community will stay intact more than 1-2 years after Tanks. If Arma 4 is three or more years out, Arma will have to hope it can entice the community to come back.

Needless to say it would be much better to release A4 while the community is still intact, rather than having to rebuild your base back up.

The amount of people in the ArmA community that i've seen who have been around since the original OFP and the earlier arma games was surprising at first but when you delve into the amount of community made content available it becomes apparent as to why they've hung around. Me and my friends have enough missions and mods to keep us entertained for a few years atleast and with new mods and updates to the existing ones happening regularly i dont see that changing.

From what i've seen ArmA's versatility helps keep the community around much longer than most games.

  4. So we may see a even deeper emphasis on caring for the civilian population? I remember seeing some suggestions to that effect in relation to the Laws of War DLC on the ALiVE Forum and found the suggestions of features that would encourage avoiding heavy combat around civilian areas and delivering humanitarian aid very interesting and it would probably change quite a few player attitudes to the civilian population :satisfied:

The problem with mods is that mission dependencies are created and not many people will download 2 or 3 mods in order to play 1 mission :)

A mod for static ships, a mod for helicopters and a mod for units? They'll just bypass the mission.

But if TOH assets were introduced in vanilla A3 there would be more possibilities for editors. Especially if the helicopter winch system was revived!!!

And I do not think that a lot of work is needed for BI to polish up TOH assets. With a little bit of work there will be a lot of extra content for free. Free content that BI really needs since many players now refuse to give more money for even more DLCs when many bugs, such as the helicopter searchlight issue, are ignored.

Too bad BI developers do not respond directly to forum threads. That way we would now what is going on :\

A few mods has never put off the people i know from playing missions...

I do think you under estimate how much time would have to be spent doing up TOH assets for official A3 support. Making it available for use by modders is a much better solution in my mind, BI get to continue with what they have planned and the modding community gets to bring over the TOH assets.

Thats the best situation you'll get at the moment since they're still in the middle of their 2017/2018 roadmap and they probably have any future unannounced additions to the game already planned out.

hi I tested 'advance fierce combat' mission Russia vs baf and 10minit Russia delete all baf army...where are heavy vehicles?

3 Commando Brigade are an Amphibious Light Infantry Brigade... Putting them against armor/mech forces isnt going to end well unless you use Ambush tactics, urban terrain and take advantage of the versatile nature of the Apache and other NATO air assets.

I'm pretty sure the 3CB devs add content to meet their community's needs first so i wouldn't expect any heavy equipment any time soon...

  7. There seems to be a feeling that myself and others want women characters added for "equality reasons" and that it has nothing to do with the growing reality of women serving on the front lines and in some countries even being conscripted into the armed forces. We have women serving with the Kurdish Peshmerga in Iraq and Syria and some countries such as Sweden having all combat roles open to both men and women.

The reality of the modern world is such that women have served in combat and will in all probability continue to serve, arguing that female soldiers shouldn't be represented is in my honest opinion silly.

  8. I'm abstaining from the vote because i dont feel children should be represented however i do think women should be included in a military and civilian capacity and honestly given that many countries allow women to serve in combat now i dont see a reason to not do it.

Could it be challenging to implement? Yes. But you've got to attempt new and challenging stuff to keep things fresh... We had female Civs in A2. Why the step backwards?

can be done with community mods & scripting, there is no official system for this (and likely no plans at this point).

Shame. It would have been a perfect thing to include as a system update with this DLC and have it as an optional feature through the "Module" system.

remember when it was? Also RHS said long ago that there will be only US and RU?, well its RHS they do what they want to do, maybe a little bit later we could see some Sa80 rifles

It came up briefly a few times after GREF and SAF was released and had even been asked before that so unless a BAF mod team has folded in under the RHS banner then i wouldn't expect another project so close after SAF became a thing let alone BAF.

I could be wrong and RHS are the only ones who know for sure but i personally don't see a reason for them to do BAF when we've already got nice mods covering british equipment plus they've got alot on their plate already with AFRF, USAF, GREF and SAF.

Omg... Why you think so? Judging by da12thMonkey's British Royal Navy symbol?:dozingoff:

Thats the Tri-Service logo of the British Armed Forces not the Navy...

Eagle for the RAF, Crossed Swords for the British Army and Anchor for the Royal Navy.

And i'm pretty sure RHS have said before they're not doing BAF so da12thMonkey's explanation of "Nationalism" is probably true

  12. They look really cool and i look forward to using them in a COIN Scenario but just one suggestion...

Tanoa is part of the wider "Horizon Islands" so maybe they would be better named the "Horizon Islands Defence Force" unless they're intended to represent a regional force rather than a national one?

As always thanks for your work and making even more combinations of factions possible in our virtual wars!
