    I have a couple of quick questions that I'm hoping the smart guys here can answer. 1. Some was asking how to add radiation to a player. They're making a Stalker-type mission and they'd like to add radiation to a character when they enter a particular zone. Can anyone suggest how to do this? 2. How can one add money to a player, in a multiplayer scenario? The idea is to reward people with money for a zombie kill. For single player, this is pretty straightforward, but for multiplayer, I'm thinking you can just add stuff to the 'player', like this player addItemToUniform "rvg_money";

I've been adding everything to the Editing section. But I really think that bit could do with a major reorganisation. But finding the time to do it is another story... I added George's last two scripts in there and I see he's going to add this one himself, for which I'm very grateful.

I don't know if you realise, but you can also do this in the game. Give it a try!

    GF Ravage Status Bar script

Yup. I'll add that too. I noticed a couple of references to it in the status bar code, so I was already thinking of adding it.

You are getting a slightly different crash error to me though. ArmA's just such a big, complicated, moddable game that there's a billion things that can go wrong. When I used to give people technical support for the ArmA 2 DaiZy, etc mods I talked to thousands and thousands of people. I swear I've seen more ArmA 2 error messages than anyone at Bohemia. And yet, there would always be one guy who would have a new error that I'd never seen before. I'm not so well-versed in ArmA 3 error messages and I've never bothered to narrow down exactly what causes my problem (I was hoping reinstalling Windows would fix it). I have to commend you for going the extra mile and nailing down a repeatable error condition - nice going!

Okay, so I went into this a little more fully this time. I tried the same settings as tosbalok. Apex buildings YES - crash Apex buildings NO - crash I did also try ContheJon's suggestion of killing the save folders. Still crashed just the same. For me, it always crashes if I use the Ravage Settings module. If I don't, it works fine. There's no problem with loading other people's missions. It only happens with missions I create on this PC. On my other PCs, I don't get this problem. I've always presumed it's something specific to my setup. I've got what is technically known as a nice-PC. i7 4790K, GTX 970, 32GB RAM, SSDs bloody everywhere. But I've got several oddities. It's water cooled. I use a graphics tablet - even for my mouse. Three monitors. I've got four tablets linked in at all times. Stuff like that. I have heard from other people who experience the same crashes if they include the Ravage settings module, and only if they do that. I must suggest to them to try with Apex buildings turned off. Obviously because of the wiki and YouTube and stuff, I hear from a lot of Ravage users and the people getting the crashes are a tiny minority. Bonus content for sticking with me this far. Radio programme I did about Baterz, an Australian musician.

I have the exact same problem. If the Ravage Settings module is placed, then the game will crash when loading a single player mission file. Noticeably, it doesn't crash when testing in the editor, only when a mission file is exported and then played. I've never been able to figure out the cause of it. This has persisted after reinstalling Windows. And I know of several other people it happens for as well. I'm going to try ContheJon's suggestion and see if that helps.

I've added a page about this script to the wiki. Thanks very much for the time you've put into this. I particularly like how customisable you made it.

Yep, that's what I was thinking. The chap who's asking abut radiation doesn't mean that, but I realised that exposing those variables would make it pretty easy to make a status bar, among other things.

On the wiki, I've got a chap asking an interesting question. He'd like to add radiation to a player. But not through the action of a radiation zone. More a case of instantly giving someone +20 radiation or something like that. It got me to thinking that there are several internal variables that might be of interest to mission makers. For instance, someone was asking about having a different UI for health, etc. Well, if one knew what those variables are called and where they're defined, it would be relatively simple to make a different UI. So does anyone know?

Thank you all very much for the game. That was a lot of fun. This is what happened when I got stuck with the respawns. And while I'm at it:

I'm afraid there isn't. I've tried to make a page on the wiki to list all the missions (and whether they're multiplayer, objective-based, working with the current version, etc... but it's just impossible to keep up. It's a bit of a faff looking through the Steam Workshop. You can reduce the load a little by searching for Ravage and ticking the box for multiplayer, but this doesn't differentiate between locally-hosted multiplayer and dedicated server mission. I've not been running a server recently, so I'm not up-to-date with which missions are best suited for servers. Hopefully some of the kind people on here can make some suggestions. Given that it is such a bish to find server-based mission files, I will add a section to the wiki to cover them. That's something I can more easily keep updated.

I used to have a popular YouTube channel and website. And it was hell. People just wanted me to make more of the same stuff they already liked. But when you do that, they complain that it's the same. And there's a constant demand that you make more stuff for them. Don't do it. Don't try to please people, just try to please yourself and maybe others whose opinion you care about. I used to worry about every downvote or dislike I got, before I just stopped caring. No matter what you do, no matter how well you do it, no matter how many people like it, there will always be someone who doesn't. I had a guy stalk me across multiple sites, downvoting everything I ever did. He constantly tried to pick a fight with me. Even if I did bother to engage (and absolutely destroy him, textually), he kept coming back for more. I'd never blocked anyone before, but eventually I had to do it to him. He created account after account and just kept coming back for more. Hating me seemed to be his hobby. I've always taken the attitude that I will help everyone who asks about anything I've made. Even when I lay out exactly what information I need to help them... even when I explain exactly how they can find that out... with pictures and step-by-step guides... I end up getting comments like "this dont work" or "I did everything you said and it didn't work". Invariably, they have screwed up by not following instructions. Even when I've created automated tools to do everything for them with a single click, they still find some way to screw it up. These days, I've got an unsuccessful YouTube channel, where I make what I like, when I like and I'm a lot happier. The few people who like my stuff, seem to really like it. I don't even get negative comments any more. Sometimes I'll make three videos in a week. Sometimes I'll go months without making one. And generally, the stuff I'm proudest of is the stuff that attracts the least views. But heck, even in real life, I present a radio show where I play Japanese music at 9am in the morning to a rural part of the country. It's easily the least popular show on the station and I'm surprised they let me do it. I did a radio special about Visual kei music (I would say Google it, but... yikes) recently. I got an email from a guy who was delighted that someone was playing that type of music. As a fan of Visual kei in Northumberland, he thought he was in a minority of one. And I'd made his day and exposed him to new bands he'd never heard of. That pleased me. I made a video of some dancing zombies in ArmA 2 and no one really liked it, but I got an email from one guy to say it had cured his daughter of her fear of zombies. That pleased me. One guy came to me with a DaiZy problem and I ended up talking him through fixing his computer, showed him how to build his own PC and how to legally get Windows and Office for a few dollars. That pleased me. Being able to do something for people like them is worth more than a million guys telling me my stuff is "awesome" (and spelling it wrong). It's the little things, y'know? You do good stuff, Donnie. Whether it's your videos, missions, Twitch streams, whatever. I've never thought anything you've done was bad. And I like you. That's rare. I know it's easy for some prick to get under your skin and make you doubt the worth of what you do, but just look at all the people who do like it. Fuck that one guy who hits the bad button. Don't forget about all the people who think the opposite. You can never make everyone happy, so don't even try. If you do, you'll find that you won't make yourself happy anyway... Here's a long, boring story about the effects of pleasing people:

It is. And that's my (very Photoshopped) living room in the thumbnail. I get a lot of comments about my voice. It's a bit weird. If you're in the UK and listen to Radio 4, you can hear Eddie Mair on the PM programme. He's from the same town as me and has a somewhat similar accent. I had a comment on a Ravage video saying (NSFW):

Blimey. Well now I'm blushing. You should hear my radio show where I play Japanese pop music and read oriental folk tales. Just what the people of Northumberland want at 9 o'clock in the morning.

There's a big update (1.78) to ArmA 3 today. It's 7.5GB+ if you've got Apex, or about 1.1GB if you don't. It updates vehicle physics, Battleye and adds the Tac-Ops stuff. You might have to check your missions for side effects...

Sorry, but by the time I spotted that, you'd already fixed it. The wiki gets a bit funny if you take your time editing a page. I've had it happen to me a couple of times. Bloody annoying. But if a page does get wiped out, it's trivial to roll it back to an earlier version, so there's no danger.

I know what you mean. Yes, loot is very scarce and finding ammo can be really tough. The thing is, Ravage is set some time after the apocalypse, so items are very scarce because everywhere's been looted already. Something else to know is that the Altis mission that comes with Ravage is just a demonstration. There are lots of Ravage missions made by other people which you may find more to your liking. If you want tips for how to survive the Altis demo mission, here's some: 1. Don't shoot zombies unless you have to. Walking zombies are little threat. Running zombies are difficult to deal with, so either: identify them and shoot them before they spot you or learn how to evade them by luring them into buildings then escaping out the back. If you're being chased by a runner, try climbing up on a rock - they can't follow and you can one-shot them in the head. 2. Where can you find ammo? Barracks are a good place. But you know who's got ammo for sure? AI units. Shoot them, take their ammo. For best results, wait until they reload before wasting them, as that ensures they have at least a full magazine. 3. Food is rare. You need to hunt to stay alive. Rabbit killing becomes very important. The difficult thing is finding a gutting knife and that's just random. I'm barely able to survive without hunting. 4. Loot respawns in buildings one (game) day after you've last visited. So if you find some useful buildings, remember where they are and go back tomorrow. I've a series of videos that shows me surviving on the Altis demo mission. You can see what I do. Give some of the other missions a try. You'll find there are a lot of them. Search for "ravage" on the Steam Workshop and you'll find there's a lot of them: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/browse/?appid=107410&searchtext=ravage The most recent one I played was DeadSunrise and it has a lot of loot and no running zombies, so I think it would suit you better. Here's its Steam Workshop page: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1180987248

Simply because Haleks (who created Ravage) doesn't approve of the Steam Workshop agreement. The Steam Workshop isn't just a place to put files - you have to agree to a set of terms and conditions in order to place your files on the Workshop. Haleks doesn't like them, so no Ravage on the Steam Workshop. I appreciate that having Ravage on the Workshop would be easier and you wouldn't have to manually update it. But it really isn't much hassle to drag a folder out of a zip file every now and then. Perhaps the Workshop agreement will change to terms that Haleks is favourable to, but until that time, I'm afraid it will remain as it is.

Unfortunately, the pathfinding for the AI and zombies doesn't know about the barriers you've placed, so they will walk right through them as though they weren't there.
