Thank you BIS, you've shown how one should actually treat their customers...
devilslayersbane replied to Ange1's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Seriously? You're going to say that you're a "loyal customer?" Apparently, the definition of "loyal customer" is "a customer who only enjoys a companies product if they themselves are satisfied." I'll be sure to send that in to oxford for the English dictionary. To put this back on topic, I've received wonderful support for Bohemia's products, both from the community and from the Devs/company. Yeah, they don't get everything perfect, but at least they're trying new things and trying to keep the player-base together. They're support forums aren't just filled with bug reports, nor are their responses just blood-letters. I'm tired of people calling Bohemia shit when they try something new and people don't like it. You're welcome to your opinion and you're welcome to free speech (at least on these forums, I'm not familiar with the laws of other countries). Free speech doesn't mean consequence-free speech. Before you show up with disrespect, stop and think. You might actually get the support you desire then. Bohemia is a great company that actually treats their customers well. However, they still have to make money. It's part of being a company. Going into the red (not making a profit) means less food on the table for them and eventually bankruptcy. -
Responses 1) Vanilla GPS can be brought up without MFD, on the side of your screen by default. 2) Not all gauges/radars on the built in hud work. It's a lot of work for details few would use. 3) The UH-80 has a nose camera? where is it? 4) Radar should do this already I believe 5) Unless you plan on getting rid of the XH-9 Family, this isn't going to happen most likely. 6) They do, if you know how to script, although AFAIK you can only limit it to the Pilot and Co-pilot 7) read number 2 8) read number 2, this isn't DCS. This isn't about vehicle simulation. It's infantry combat and combined arms. 10) I present number 2's response once again along with number 8's 11) As long as the commander is on the correct VOIP channel (side) then he can mark an LZ that everyone can see. 12) Already possible. 13) This isn't a flight sim. Get one or wait for BI to release ArmA 7 basic start-up DLC 14) Not-needed with current rain simulation 15) Fast ropes were tossed around for the Helicopter DLC, but ultimately dismissed. (I wanted it, too) 16) There's no UN Faction in Arma 3 vanilla. Adding that to the Vanilla game would be superfluous. 17) This is possible with a mod, Arma 3 still needs to have vanilla difficulties for a wider audience for the community to really grow. As far as your list goes, you talk about DCS a lot. DCS is a simulator for Vehicle (mostly, if not completely Air vehicle) combat and logistics. The point of that game is for Helicopters and Jets to be simulated in a virtual environment where you're worrying about just about everything that a real pilot of these craft would worry about. Arma is different. Arma 3 is a combat/combined arms game where you have the freedom to be and do anything. It doesn't even need to be combat related. With that in mind, if you're looking for a aircraft simulation, you need to find one. Arma isn't it and it may never get there because it can A) turn off a lot of people from the game and B) limit the versatility and modability of the game. Every time BI makes changes to the game like some of the ones you're discussing, you have players that now have to adapt to something new and modders that have to do more to make full use of the vanilla features. That being said, every new installment does bring new features that add to the game. Making huge moves like these too quickly could potentially ruin the fanbase and the franchise. As far as your afterthoughts go, BI's EULA for Arma 3 prevents 3rd party devs making mods for profit. The team that made Iron Fron: Liberation 1944 was a special agreement that BI made with them. I will again point out that Arma isn't DCS and vehicle's aren't the focus of Arma. Plus, the UN doesn't always stick with NATO gear. It doesn't have to. Proper SAMs and stealth also would require a lot of new simulation for missles and radar. It's a lot of work and who knows how many people will understand it. Your ideas and thoughts have merit, but there has to be a way to make these features accessible or optional, otherwise you'll be turning away new players. Also note, that at no point are my words meant to flame-bait or be disrespectful. Just up-front and informative.

I have my gamma set at .8 or .7. I like how rich the greens look in it. However, I only encountered this problem when in vehicles with my HDR quality set to low. Make sure your files validate and the time of day you're playing at. Playing near sundown and sun-up can have this effect.

What part of my PC should I upgrade for Arma 3?
devilslayersbane replied to eddo36's topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Also, are you sure that your graphics card is a 545M? if so, that means that you're most likely running on a laptop (like myself, who is running on a 560M). If that's the case you may not be able to replace it. -

devilslayersbane replied to major_desync's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Part of me likes the incidental clutter. It helps somewhat enforce immersion. However, it can sometimes be extraordinarily annoying as a mission maker to try and work around it. I'm for it, but try to keep mission making in mind. -

It doesn't need to be huge, imo. But I feel it is somewhat necessary. Also, that gun looks frickin' perfect. Sergeant Johnson would approve. -

@dragon: Don't worry about criticism. I take it fairly well. I have set my priorities, and I just wanted to let you know that it's on the to-do list. I'll be sending you a pm soon. Hopefully when I get rid of this migraine. -

@dragon: Working on it. With the Christmas season, I'm finding little time to work on the mod. Plus I'm one person, I can't do everything. Alduric sends me stuff on occasion and I have a couple of community members willing to help me out, but ultimately it's just me. @king: Thank you. @Beazley: The weapon folders in general are a mess, I'm trying to sort out what I do and don't need for the next release. As for the units, I'll be sure to make note of the things you said. @Cole: Tigerstripe was used by the South Vietnamese Rangers and Marines, as well as being adopted by US special forces such the Green Beret's, MACVSOG, and SEALS before being replaced by the 1968 ERDL Jungle pattern. I'm aware of this and will be fixing it soon. Like I said above, I've been busy. General Mod update: I'm looking at adding content to the mod itself soon (within the next month or two). The 1.20r (release) version should include the T-34/85, T-55, ZSU-23, and MI-8. Hopefully Alduric can get me that new PBR, as well. Along side the armor, helo, and boat, I will also be adding some static weapons such as the ZU-23, DshkM, and M2. Most of this is courtesy of Reyhard for allowing me to use his excellent Tank and static weapon ports. -
Ok, so lets look at VAS. It's a system that's meant to be put in a bunch of missions yes? Here's the license from VAS: "Use of Virtual Ammobox System (VAS) in a mission being published on Steam workshop is acceptable. Publishing VAS it's self is not. VAS is a tool / script resouce allowed to be used in missions and is not to be published separately (as is) to Steam Workshop." Ok, now lets look at RH M4's license which was in the Arma 3 Life modpack: "Do not edit or redistribute without explicit permission and NO commercial gain made by either renting, leasing or selling of this package. You are not allowed to upload this pack or parts of it to the Steam Workshop! I take no responsibility for (im)possible damage to your game/system that may be caused by installation of this Addon. This Addon is also prohibited to be used in any commercial product." Neither of these are perfect, but they get their point across. VAS is meant as a tool. A resource to use for mission makers, and it's license represents that. Robert Hammer's M4's is a well-crafted product with a lot of hours from many people and is greatly cared for. It's meant for personal use, or use with permission (e.g. asking permission). Robert hammer and Tonic both have the ability to remove legal permission to use VAS and the M4's at any time. However, the difference between the two is that VAS gives you permission to make something with it in it's license, whereas RH-M4's does not. In regards to people charging "donations" for content. That is against Bohemia's EULA agreement, and therefore it's illegal if you own arma 3. Especially if there's no way around it, but even if there is it's an extraordinarily dark grey area. If you go pay a dealer for drugs and use half, you'll get arrested for using drugs yourself. Don't make moronic statement's like that. And as for someone "copying" something: it's illegal to take a file that's under a license (whether it's free or not does not matter), rename it and call it yours. It is not illegal to make something to compete with said file (e.g. I make my own m4 pack) and name it myself and distribute it. Even if it looks really similar to the other file (which, it probably would, but not exactly). This is where your argument is flawed, because you do not understand the basics of copyright laws and licenses which I have just stated for you, just for your convenience. Your welcome.

devilslayersbane replied to devilslayersbane's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I'm aware of the flags, those will be gone soon...hopefully... The weapon changes will happen next update. I'm saving the Tiger stripe for USSF, and ARVN, so it won't be going away just yet. Also, thanks for the info on ANZAC battalions. I'm going to try to avoid another huge config change, but those will definitely be integrated soon. -

I may do that if I split ANZACS into Australian and New Zealand Counterparts, seeing as their combination is why they were listed as ANZAC in the first place. -

So, a brief update on the results of last nights classname update when put against testing: -All US units now have the correct patches on their arms -The Pilot, Armor Crew and Platoon Leader for the NVA (I added those) have their own special uniforms (don't ask me how this happened...I'm not entirely sure). -The US box works fine, although I can't figure out how to get the old box to go away yet. -The NVA/Vietcong box is still a WIP, but it works too. -

The Update will be within a week or so. The planned fixes for the 1.18r are as follows: -FNFAL sounds now present within mod (as they weren't before) -Classnames organized with a set naming convention (mostly) -Fixed weapon box -Added vietnam weapon box The US Classnames are already set in stone so I'll whip up a text document soon to post those. -

This is just a warning, this next update is going to be pretty big config changer. There's going to be a lot of classnames change. Be prepared for your missions to not work. I promise, this is going to make things easier on my end and hopefully your end if your scripts are classname dependent. I'll do my best to include documentation on what all changed, but that's going to all depend on the time I have so no promises. -
i swear arma 3 was supposed to have a railgun tank???
devilslayersbane replied to Tyl3r99's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Which hasn't stopped, but needs to. It's not changing now. Get over it. Get RHS. Do something besides complain about it. I would've liked to see a rail-gun tank. Too bad other people had to ruin that for me. -
