ARMA 2: OA Beta build 125548 - Steam Mp Lobby (1.63 build, Steam only)
kichilron replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
That is something that was fixed in DayZ Mod 1.8.2 as soon as it releases - it has to do with the fact that BIS-function has a wrong sanity-check -
Gives us the option to choose beta patch in steam
kichilron replied to Squadron_2's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Doesn't that prove the point? Some versions of 1.63 were buggy, meaning we would need the option to be able to chose, incase a new update comes along that's even more broken? Or is this it? Is it safe to assume the patches are over for ARMA 2 OA? -

I don't understand how that is related. Why would I bother having to include the A2-AddOns as a mod-Path if I could just copy over the Assets? It's just more work everytime. I know how the Mod-Pathing works, but this doesn't change anything about the fact I can just copy everything over to be used, so I don't have to use the mod-param at all. -

All you have to do, really, is this: Install ARMA 2 Run it Install ARMA 2: OA Run it Copy the folder "Addons" from ARMA 2 to "Common" in "ARMA 2 OA" Done -

I do use start and it disappears again? Well, I am a DayZ-Dev, so yes. But we do not have any scriptErrors in the 1.8.1 release. We're always running it with -showScriptErrors to test various stuff. Please do tell which errors you're getting as well as what you're doing when you're getting them. An extract of your .rpt will do (preferably in a PM - as there is no need to clutter the Forum). -

I use .bat files located in my ARMA 2 OA directory: start arma2oa.exe -mod=@DayzDev -world=chernarus -noFilePatching -showScriptErrors -noSplash -connect=127.0.0.1 -port=2302 Change -mod= to whatever mod you're using (the exact foldername), separated by ; IE: -mod=@Mod1;@Mod2;@Mod3 and -connect= to the IP and -port= to the port of the server to join -

Which leavese us with the problem that we have to stick to GameSpy' date=' which is supposed to have shut down over a year ago. I am not asking for anything big and all of the problems I mentioned above would be solved if we had this: [i']The option to chose a Beta-Patch[/i] - we used to be able to chose the Beta-Patch ourselves - but now we can't anymore. We are being forced to update by Steam and can't prevent it at all. Why not have the dropdown include a few of the last versions? It surely can't be that hard? This does not mean being able to chose between 1.62 and 1.63 - as there's no point. -

Sadly, all of the changes and especially how the changes to the way patches are being distributed, effectively killed the modding-community. Any server that decided to go with new version can't even be found properly most of the time (as I pointed out earlier - that Servers sometimes only show up under LAN - and no, this is not my home-server, it's a dedicated box about 600 km away), as well as being forced to update without any way of chosing the version - all of this has pretty much stopped us from doing anything. Not only can we not provide any help for anyone anymore nor suggest any specific patches, we can't also be sure which version is stable. Let's face it - almost every Beta Patch broke something and now we can't even chose to run on a specific Patch and Steam wants to update the game almost any day. All it needed was an alternative way to search for servers instead of GameSpy - but all the other changes aren't helping with anything and I see the end of the modding community coming - and more specifically of DayZ - pretty much enforced by BI themselves. -

Any news on the language? What startup param did I miss? How do I change my language? -

I can't even find my server the normal way, despite the fact that it's set up properly. So I looked, if there's a way to access it differently. So it turns out that all games are being listed under "LAN", despite the fact that my server is about 600km away from me in a Data-Centre. It appears that all of them are actually listed under "LAN". Might just be a bug with the Localisation, though - which brings me to my next point - why exactly did you decide to force the language upon me all of a sudden? I have been playing in English all these years - I don't even know what to do with myself in German. And there doesn't seem to be any information whatsoever about why it was changed or how I can prevent this. (which I couldn't change back to English thus far) -

You will atleast have to be able to chose whether to update or not, which is not the case, currently. And you will never be able to tell beforehand. And there's no way of downgrading with Steam to the last Beta Patch. -

kichilron replied to Johny's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Yes, of course. We're not talking about having the ability to play with 1.62 - as that option is already there on Steam. However - and this is the part we need to have: the newest Beta-Patch breaks a lot of stuff for mods and any Beta-Patch has done so far. This wouldn't be a problem if I could just chose to stay in a version I know was working (124879) - but there's no way of doing that, because Steam forces me to update and I can't roll back, because I can't download it anymore (not on Steam, and the Retail System isn't used anymore) It might be alright for the regular ARMA 2 OA player, but us modders have some serious issues with this - and it's the mods that keep it alive after all. These issues are starting with the playerUID now, go on with the changed BIS_fnc_init some patches ago, etc. If we could simply to chose to stay on one version we deliver our patches with, it would be cool - but we simply can't. This doesn't mean we wouldn't update to the newest Beta-patches when releasing a new patch, but there is no such system yet. There is hardly any project as big as DayZ Mod at the moment - and we have our hands tied because of this. -

kichilron replied to Johny's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
The only reason why this is causing massive problems is because there is no way of avoiding the update. If only we could get the option to install any patch we want (like we used to be able to with the retail version), everything would be fine. We could stick to one version and support that one instead of being stuck with the newest version, which none of us can use. You can't even chose to opt out of updates, as Steam forces you to update if you want to start the game.
