Campaign Episode 1: SURVIVE - Feedback thread ** SPOILER WARNING! **
Johnman replied to maddogx's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I personally loved the campaign and I don't have any important gripes with it. In fact I don't think I have any at all. I felt the campaign in Arma II was kind of unpolished, it didn't really engage me. But this one? I was left wanting for more. I'd say take your time with the next episodes and make them just as awesome! A comment about Tipping Point: -
You can do it with the tools you have, and I would play it for sure. Sounds like fun.

I'm with you. I loved every single mission. I haven't played OFP, but I can say this is a great leap forward from Arma II and I hope the rest of the campaign is half as epic. I can't wait for the next episode!

I didn't have much trouble with this one on regular difficulty. Just did the same thing I use to in the showcase mission: stick to the rocks and try to kill the enemy quickly before they wipe out my squad. Flaking to the right while the rest of the squad approach the town along the opposite side of the canyon helped catch a couple of enemy soldiers off-guard, but it makes you vulnerable to fire from the buildings. I used 3 reverts, and two of them were because I messed up with the UAV. The other because I ran out of time with the last task. I didn't die at all.

I got past this on my second try. Keep running, try to stick to the trees and never stop to apply first aid. Once you get to the thicker tree area you can relax a little. As for the boat thing, the last paratrooper wave can get in your way if you don't return fire. Keep moving towards the boats, take cover on the trees and try to snipe a guy or two before moving again. Once I got to the denser tree area I went a bit east, killed three paratroopers (one of them mid-air, yay), and then proceeded to move towards the boats returning fire once in a while. I was actually the last to get to the boats, but maybe sticking to your teammates can help. Try to move when they are returning fire and fire yourself while they move. Yes, this part of the mission is not exactly in compliance with standard gaming rules, but if you act like you would in real life*, you can make it. * Disclaimer: I don't have a clue what I'm talking about. EDIT: I have to say I loved this first episode. I hope the rest of the campaign is just as epic. I can't wait!
