  1. I've begun to experiment with ACE³'s mortar system, but I'm kinda stuck. The official "explanation" on the website is in parts unclear or even confusing. Measuring the 2D distance between mortar and target is easy (BTW it would be handy to have the 82mm range table available in the ACE³ box with the Misc Equipment, right now I need to access the Arsenal to get it), but the explanation for figuring in altitude differences has me scratching my head. Just to clarify: The number in the third column is to be subtracted if the altitude difference between mortar and target is 100m (if smaller then divide the number, if larger multiply the number). Once that result has been calculated that number has to be ... subtracted from the 2D distance measurement. So far correct? I've yet to experiment with the crosswind feature but I guess the module has to be activated in order to get the value corrections in the range table. Is that correct?
  2. The Spike is pretty much what the "Titan AT" is in vanilla. The most relevant version would be the Eurospike LR with a maximum range of 4000m (I think the ER version with a range of 8k would be an overkill for such a helo). Columbia for example has incorporated the Spike into their UH-60 fleet. @geraldbolso1899 The Tiger is using different ATGMs. Currently France and Germany use the HOT2/3 (which is becoming obsolescent), Germany is moving towards PARS 3 LR and the Aussis are using Hellfires.
  3. There's one thing that I (as someone interested in flying at least the helos in ARMA) always found insufficient was the navigation equipment available. Even with the GPS and AGM's map tools it was incredibly tedious (and if done in a hurry quite against immersion) to mark a flightpath with waypoints on the map and then actually quite tedious follow it (because of a lack of additional info like heading, altitude etc). I was wondering if there was the (however remote) possibility to enhance this aspect specifically for helo or aircraft pilots (and crew). Maybe a separate system that allows to place "waypoints" on the map, connects those with lines (to enhance the impression of that being a flightplan) and allow the user to enter additional info to be displayed on the pilot's GPS (like heading, altitude etc).

    BWMod

Uaaaaahhhh ... Never realized how corny literal translations of german proverbs to english sound. :butbut:
  5. Thanks for the explanation. I appreciate it. :)
  6. Which means, at least to the ears of someone incapable of coding (like myself :p), that to be truly compatible the 3D models need to be largely following the same standards. So I'm wondering how much of a congruence can be achieved without asking other mod makers to rebuild their models according to this "standard"? Not trying to be contrary, just really curious. :)
  7. I'm quite curious about one aspect ACE² had: the advanced damage model for vehicles. Is something like this planned or even possible? It would be nice to have a level playing field with these two mods (which we use in 14. Jägerkompanie).

    HAFM NH90 Helicopter

Ok, so I had an hour to spend and flew around in the NH-90. The flying aspect is to my liking (AFM only so far, I just can't go back to simple FM), although I haven't tried stuff like external load lifting or hovering in difficult terrain. I find the helo to be forgiving, solid and not prone to the usual hypersensitivity especially when controlling collective or roll. On that basis I'd actually like to see our clan adopting it as standard transport helo. Three things I've noticed, two visual issues (model) and one config change I'd propose. 1.) Only the pilot/co pilot can open/close the ramp and the side doors. Add a distinct "crew chief" slot which can also do this (immersion, you know?). Additionally it would be nice if you added a way to open/close of the side doors via the usual action menu (even from the outside). 2.) There seems to be a missing part of the external model once you're inside the helo and open the side doors. The big "bulges" which contain the main gear aren't visible from the inside - I only realized this when I flew in the darkness and found the collision light(s) float away from the model. 3.) If you watch videos of the NH-90 landing you'll notice that the gear has a very long spring deflection. Right now you have the gear in the state of the springs pushed in as far as possible which is only true when the helo comes to rest fully. This is just a visual thing, a "nice-to-have", but I noticed the enormous spring deflection right away when I first saw a vid of the NH 90.

    HAFM NH90 Helicopter

Hmmm ... Anyone else having the helo "float" roughly a meter aboveground once the advanced FM is activated and the player is in as the pilot?

    RHS Escalation (AFRF and USAF)

Hmmm ... we use it as a standard mod internally and I can't switch to a beta because of the server settings. We do have 0.3.5 installed, though.

By the way ... don't know if it was mentioned or if it's known already, but placing a CH-47 on any map and then entering as pilot puts the entire helo about 2m above any surface (magic carpet, anyone?). Once I get out the helo is back to the ground. Enter again - 2m above ground again. Weird.

    Thanks for the info. :)

    RHS Escalation (AFRF and USAF)

Congrats on the release. This one looks like a helluva work. I haven't followed discussions in detail so pls forgive me if I'm rehashing old issues, but I was wondering about the "more current" equipment of the RFAF. I've seen pics of a BMP-3 on your FB page. Does that mean more modern stuff like the T-90s, T-72B3 etc are going to come at some point?

    New CH-67 Huron

I have seen too little for a judgement that holds any water, but I'm not "put off" by the Chinook-style appearance at all. Why? Because there's still the "Future Heavy Transport Helicopter" program of Airbus Helicopters & Boeing floating around and the very last concept studies looked like a modernized CH-47 (even though much bigger, plans go for 15 tons internal or 18 tons slingloaded).

    BWMod

The Tiger UHT is going to be part of the next update. It'll be provided as "hardcore" version (without a chin turret - german Tigers don't have such a gun) and a version with a gun turret for those who can't do without. ;) EDIT: Here's a shot of it from the BWMod Site. http://i.imgur.com/0YHecfp.jpg (220 kB)
