Hi everyone, I was wondering if anybody knows if there is the possibility to create some Trap/Skeet shooting within Arma 3? I saw this video on youtube: https://youtu.be/I-1YxFeLzKs Unfortunately there is no description on how the clay was set up. I also found this link here in the forums, but it is for Arma 2 https://forums.bistudio.com/topic/104692-d3z-shotguns/?hl=double+barrel+shotgun Now I have to admit that I have no idea about modding so I guess I can not be off any help at all, but perhaps someone here knows if something like that can be achieved in Arma 3. Cheers Jagdtiger/Jan

ARMA 3 Addon Request Threadjagdtiger74 replied to max power's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION After seeing this: i was wondering if the community should start developing this: I mean who is going to chop down all these trees? As a result of that thought, how about turning Arma3 with Epoch and some nice machines into the Arma3 Lumberjack and Logbuilding Simulator? Obviously this is not overly serious but I wonder what could be achieved? Cheers -1Para- Jagdtiger

ARMA 3 Addon Request Threadjagdtiger74 replied to max power's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION Watching some combat footage yesterday I was wondering why the CH53 Super Stalion never made it to Arma? Wasnt there at least a G-Model in Arma2? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/15/Sikorsky_CH-53_ILA-2006_1.jpg (342 kB) that is the smaller Version http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/ec/CH-53_Super_Stallion.jpg (986 kB) and that is the bigger one. Cheers

Boeing C-17 ArmA 3 Modjagdtiger74 replied to randomslap's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE I tested it yesterday and love it. Aside from some of the bugs which i dont really care too much about at the moment, I would say making it feel far more heavy is important. It just turns on a dime.

Tested it and it feels really good! Thanks!

So I played Arma 3 yesterday on my clans server. Didnt install anything after that, no i want to join the server and when I press Play>Multiplayer the Game just freezes. I didnt add any mods, didnt install anything else on my computer nothing. So whats going on? Thanks
-
Yeah nothing new for me either, downloaded game from steam again, still the same. It just sucks.
-
?? Restarting the game? I started the computer a couple times new so yeah i restarted the game. Turned Antivirus and firewall off no effect have not changed anything
-
What do you mean by server? In the game when i press Play > Multiplayer when it is supposed to open the Server Lobby it freezes, so I never even get to the screen where all the servers are shown. Well what is there to do? I checked Arma3 files through Steam, checked that i have an up to date Battleye dll and other than that nothing. I mean i played yesterday - all fine, now broken
-
Same here, since the patch I crash with frozen game. It always hits multiple Players on the server at the same time. The only common event we could find was a helicopter crashing. I never had a crash before and I am playing since Alpha. So it must have something to do with the last patch.

Hi there, i was wondering if anyone could tell me what the rpm of the MG in the Pawney is in ARMA3? I just have the feeling that nothing is coming out of this gun. I mean it says M134 so i guess its fair to asume the mean the real minigun. It shoots simultaniously from both sides, so considering the real weapons we are talking between 4000-12000 rpm for the two guns together (2000-6000rpm/each). Aside from the fact that you cant change anything about the guns speed i still have the feeling that we are not even close to 4000rpm. Perhaps someone with programming skills knows what the settings are in game? And the sound  Cheers

Changing between Final and Dev back and forth?jagdtiger74 posted a topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS Hi all, i was just wondering can I change between the current final and the dev as often as I want? The server that I am currently playing MP on is going to stay with the current final but I was thinking I might wanna check out what is going on in the dev branch? Thanks

I was wondering if you guys could answer me a question. Yesterday I was playing on a MP server, it had a ViewSetting tool in the mouse menu and since FPS werent that great I set it so something like 2500m. While i was riding in the back of an helicopter to the AO I went into the Configuration/Video Setup to see what FPS the system was showing now. It was around 25FPS. So I started playing with my view distance and object draw settings (7500/5000 which generates 40-45 FPS in SP mode) and surprisingly enough FPS changed. So what is the ViewSetting MP Tool good for if the Configuration/Video Setup somehow interferes with it? I mean changing in the MP Tool actually changes the View Distance quite visibly?

European Union (Fictional - ArmA III Setting)jagdtiger74 replied to jinzor's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION He said "is" and that is something completely different than saying might be, can be, should be or whatever. Besides the original reasoning behind the whole discussion was to make clear to the OP that his fictional EU Army will be very diversified. All eurocrats already have come to the conclusion that whatever structure the EU will have in future, it will not replace national identity and thoughts. Therefor Camopatterns, Weapons of choice and so on might still be different because on lower level of military planning it does not play such a vital role. Important is that the HQ structure is capable of conduction joint operations. Which for example leads to communications systems that have to work for all parties involved. From another angle a lot of countries do not have the financial means to throw their equipment over board and simply buy new stuff. With regards to the mod, cool idea but keep it diversified because that is what Europe is. and you little *** why do you even post here without having anything to contribute?

European Union (Fictional - ArmA III Setting)jagdtiger74 replied to jinzor's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION Well, no. You are actually wrong on all accounts of your argument. Perhaps the press or the view in Finland but most of what you said is simply not true. To start with the easy one, the Eurocopter is produced by Eurocopter Group. Eurocopter Group is a company and therefor follows only economical reasoning. It is the result of the fusion of Aerospatioal (French) DASA (German) and a spanish company (name forgotten). Eurocopter belongs to EADS, Airbus is part of them aswell. So the hole sharing story is true to the aspect that only a huge cooperation like that can actually afford to develop a weapons system like that but it resulted out of economical reasoning and sure enough wasnt ordered by some sort of european parliament. The reduction of military expenses can most likely also only be achieved via that route, the biggest player in the market develops something and makes it available to the other countries. But no government organisation can order that process. We are not living in Russia for that matter. The political process you are describing is something that has been discussed for even longer than the EU's existence and to a certain degree good effects have been achieved. Like the the trade union. Others like the Europol work already but their work is very specific and is concerned with crimes that span over multiple borders. Which makes sense, because what use would an italian police man be in a dutch city? Aside from the fact that that would be illegal anyway. The common foreign policy is something that is a wishfull thinking, because as of now the EU Countries are sovereign nations with varying interests. For example France has far different ties to countries in North Africa and therefor different involvement and interests. Besides the european players are in G8 and have a seat with the UN which in terms of weight and influence is quite sufficient. European Parliament is a structure above a structure, so everything that passes there has to pass implementation in the countries involved. A process that does not work smoothly and certainly will not get easier in the future. Since the decisions taken there have to be accepted on a national level. Now tell the french that their goose liver is not legal anymore. Get the point. With the ongoing crisis in europe there are actually quite strong movements developing in countries like France and Germany, as a matter of fact even in Greece that are against further involvement on a european level. Specifically with regards to currency. So i would not be so optimistic about that. EUROFOR was a RRF which is as i stated before a mission based Joined Headquater, not an Army. Same applies to the Battlegroup concept it is quite small, 1500 units per battle groups and only 2 ready for deployment. As a comparison the EUROKORPS has a full French and a full German Tank Division, plus 2 mechanized Brigades. Thats roughly 50.000 troops. It can be used by EU or SHAPE (NATO). But as stated multiple times now, it is more a structural organ. The troops in those multinational units will still be soldiers from a certain country and will wear their uniform and gear. Exceptions might be the Barrett or some sort of badge. So wishfull thinking of United States of Europe does not necessarily make it happen and even though I have no earthly idea what the finish think about that I am very certain that countries like France and Germany will not go for it. As a matter of fact even spain and italy are highly unlikely.

European Union (Fictional - ArmA III Setting)jagdtiger74 replied to jinzor's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION I still dont get the point of the weapons. There is no European Army and it is most likely that there never will. EUFOR as an example with the video shown is a multinational Headquarter. In it are Troops of countries out of the EU that decide to plan and conduct an operation together. For that the commanding and communications infrastructure is created. So that the overall execution of the mission with those multiple nations involved can centrally be led. A good example is the ongoing Mission Atalanta (protection and fight against pirates around the horn of Africa). The European Union decided on a mandate and the execution was given EUNAVFOR which is the naval part. The forces involved are part of a NATO naval group. The operation is run from the UK and there is a changing Force Commander in the AO. But all the assets in the AO, in this case ships, aircraft and crew, are standard assets of the countries involved. So a German frigate has a German CO, German crew and German equipment. Only in the next level up which is the HQ of the whole operation there is multinational mix up. Like intelligence officers from multiple countries working alongside for situation assessment. Still wearing there countries Uniforms and equipment's. In every operation in the past which was conducted b EUFOR, EUROKORPS, SHAPE, AFCENT you name it, the forces involved are still national forces, use national equipment and uniforms. They use Badges on the uniform thats all. The multinational aspect is mainly HQ work. So even though I like the idea of your setting I completely disagree with the approach to generate on uniform for all and one set of equipment for all. Which not only from an operational standpoint is total BS but is totally unlikely to happen. It simply does not make sense. For the helicopters, multi purpose attack helicopters are a rare thing in the EU. There is the EUROCOPTER Tiger, shared by France, Spain and Germany and the Augusta A129 from Italy. The British use an Apache licensed by Westland.

European Union (Fictional - ArmA III Setting)jagdtiger74 replied to jinzor's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION @Jinzor you never know ;-) Germany for example started issuing the HK G28 to the troops in Afghanistan. It is in .308 / 7,62x51. But it will not replace the G36. It is an addition to the squad/platoon level equipment. So you will have G36/G28 /HKMG4. At the same time MG3s are still in use and G8/HK21 are also used. These are both old designs around the 7,62x51 whereas the HKMG4 is 5,56NATO. I cant really comment on other countries plans but as I said before Equipment is not mandatory in NATO and even if it would be countries will find a way around it to full fill their needs. On a side note, the original plans for development for the now G36 had a different approach, the G11 which was one of the development steps inbetween the G3 and the G36 was based around 4,9mm round and the first prototypes of the G36 were tested with a 4,5x36mm round. With these rounds the rife was shooting 1100 rpm !!! But with the end of the cold war germany opted for a G36 in 5,56 NATO. For the near future I think 5,56NATO will be the standard, since so many of Europe's Armies have large amounts of these. And it should be noted that implementing a new rifle easily takes 10 or more years with development, testing and then integrating. Let alone the cost factor. In the long run caseless might be the way.

European Union (Fictional - ArmA III Setting)jagdtiger74 replied to jinzor's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION @OP oh I thought you wanted to know some background on what is actually going on in NATO to adopt your scenario?! The 5,56 Nato is 5,56 x 45mm and the civil version well known as .223 Remington. The advantage of the round is that one round weights approx half than the 7,62 NATO (7,62 x 51mm or .308Win). Considering this fact for a hole army makes a huge difference in logistics. One Soldier carrying 320 Rounds in 5,56 Nato carries 3,5 kg in 7,62 NATO its more like 7,6kg. The same applies for the whole supply chain of getting ammo moved to the troops. You can generally speaking bring double the rounds to the troops with the logistics in place or use the freed space to move other stuff. That was one of the reasons why Germany changed caliber. Now the 5,56 NATO round has a huge disadvantage over 7,62 NATO and that is punch. 5,56 NATO has an E0 of 1800Joule compared to 3500Joule E0 of the 7,62NATO. These paper values very reported over and over again by the troops to cause massive problems. Lack of stopping power as well of deflection of bullets by small obstacles and nearly no possibility to penetrate harder targets. The same was reported in widespread for the civil .223 Rem from Hunters that used it, where the bullets were deflected from grass leaves and small branches. It is therefore not popular for hunting bigger game like deer. Even though the bullet speed is good and precision very good the target ballistics are not.

European Union (Fictional - ArmA III Setting)jagdtiger74 replied to jinzor's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION Some infos about Eurokorps since I served there. Generally european armies are joined together in NATO with Headquarters in Brussels Belgium. We have to remember that NATO was created as a counterweight to the East block. There is no sharing of weapons per se in NATO. But obviously a lot of the countries involved shared development costs for weapon systems or purchased Weapon systems from NATO Members. Like the use of the german developed Leopard MBT in multiple NATO countries. Also certain standards were agreed upon within NATO, like the usage of the 5,56mm Round, even though a lot of countries are looking for alternatives since the round lacks punch. Anyhow so nothing is common in NATO and there are exceptions everywhere. The Eurokorps consists of France, Germany, Belgium, Spain and Luxembourg and is structurally a Corps. It mainly consists of Divisions that are stationed in their native country. Only the HQ and HQ Support troops are actual Eurokorps. For Germany it is the 10th Tank Division that is Part of the Eurokorps, but they are in their bases in Germany. So Eurokorps does planing and training and then puts a Force together out of the units available. Weapons in general are not shared. Germany uses HK G36, France FAMAS. Germany Leopard, France LeClerk. Only the Multinational Forces within the Eurokorps share equipment. Like the HQ or the German French Brigade. Having said all that there are a couple of other joind forces projects between various countries. For example there is the ARRC Allied Command Europe Rapid Reaction Corp which is under British directive and has 16 member nations. Language: depends on who is working together but on a superior level English since SACEUR and SHAPE do everything in English. Camo: No NATO style. Every NATO Country is a souverain State so they do as they please. But then again, your neighbor might like the style you are wearing and they buy the stuff.

But isnt resolution done by the GPU anyway? So all this changing resolution isnt going to help anything. It is the simple fact that the engine cant use current systems properly. 3 CPU cores going to bed while one is doing the work and my GPU needs a blanket because there is nothing going on there. I can force the GPU to work harder but there is no profit in it, since beyond a certain point the CPU single Core cant keep up. So in the eyes of BI perhaps it is our fault because we have the wrong systems!?

Arma 3 smoother than arma 2 and I get better frame rates as I recordjagdtiger74 replied to criticofgames's topic in ARMA 3 - MULTIPLAYER I think it also depends on your recording settings, I mean your Youtube Video I found is in 480. I run an I5 3570K OC @4.2 with a Sapphire HD Vapour X 7970 GHz OC 6GB from an SSD and I have trouble keeping FPS constant at 30FPS on MP Server. Even in Editor I cant go full Ultra with a ViewRange of 5000m, specially when flying the Jet fast and Low.
