  1. 3rd Ranger Battalion MilSim Unit "Higher standard of military simulation gaming" 3rd Ranger Battalion Site TS: 198.100.157.191:1911 Hello to any and all that read this, my name is SPC Hammonds and I am with the 3rd Ranger Battalion MilSim Unit. If you're tired of children or inexperienced players throwing together "Realism" or "MilSim" units claiming to be 100% authentic to the military but have no idea when it comes down it or just don't make the cut after a few weeks or months, then check us out. Under the title of "MilSim", Military Simulation, we follow the current military rank structure, chain of command, tactics, values, and principals. Simply put we reenact or portray a unit within the United States Armed Forces, specificly the 3rd Ranger Battalion of the 75th Ranger Regiment. We take pride in what we do to simulate the military through a computer game, just like some people may reenact in real life with era correct clothing an such we use our mouse and keyboard. Our rank structure is idendical to the US Army and you progress through the ranks by your actions not whether or not your on the Commanders good side or not. Everything is done fairly, justly, for the betterment of the unit, and for MilSim. We have set training and operation days, though they are considered mandatory we understand real life comes first. Typically, we do CoOp missions as a group but we do our fair share of PvP within the group and possibly with other units. The 3rd Ranger Battalion is a relatively young unit only being around for only a few months, many of our members have played in other "MilSim" or "Realism" units for over a year either on their own or together. Being a young unit many of our members have served or still serve in the US Armed Forces, many of whom are experienced NCOs, or other countries military. Our members that are still severing or who have served have done deployments overseas and have a lot of first hand experience that they bring to the table. Hey so i know this is an old discussion but i was reading through here and figured id put my input in. Tape on the mag does have some function but not in that sense. In Basic we used to take electrical tape and tape around the magazine just like the photo is because the tape was a gummy rubber on the outside and our gloves had rubber on the palm and fingers. So it worked as a grip assist so that you wouldnt get in a hurry and lose your grip on your mag and end up throwing it at your battle buddy or some shit. I used that technique through all of my training and during the first few months of my time at my unit, although i have since then swapped over to rubber magpul pieces that fit to the bottom of the mag and have loops to grip instead. but in a pinch i can still go back to using 100mph tape or electrical tape as a grip enhance for my magazine. i know several people that still use this method if they dont want to cough up the money for magpul pieces. Its still up to you to decide if you want to put in on there. also feel free to ask any questions about the M4 or M16 or any other military mod you feel like making, if you need input from some one thats used the gear in real world situations. Also very good mod overall!
