    Tools for create new maps for arma3

    i am hoping Visitor is now a thing of the past for commercial VBS and it can now be donated to us poor game types :). i base this on watching the business pages and what was happening last year or so .     true dat , they even took the best bits out over the years for no reason , like the left shift click to create road networks . my hope is now they bought that terrasim out with backing from Riverside equity group , the Visitor 4 code will be easier to distribute to us non commercial types. either way , i cant see any major Dev for A3 until they consolidate there DAYZ fanbase losses , probably let some big coding news out amongst the fog of the first campaign mission , but i am rather hoping it will be DAYZ alpha and Campaign Mission + early tools to make it all even :) .

    correct :) select a piece and name it piece1 in the named window and the right click the name and send to proxy , select something that wont animate that has enough polys to reduce the count below 32K tris

    It doesnt make sense because you are thinking in terms of self , If you factor in those that love to make addons for free will not be affected and BIS will always complete what was offered on the packet , then this adds an additional avenue for all especially wasteland and life mods who make up 80- 90 % of the customer base for Arma 3 in my opinion of course . goto the the addons request thread and 90% of those requests will never be made , however they are things somebody want s/ needs and i believe the only way they will ever get made in that quantity and quality is with a marketplace .

    Says who ? if BIS run the BID site they can have there percentage for the tool useage , why would anyone want to reduce variety by including an extra sanction method on the what is made and released being dictated by BIS distribution only ,that sounds a bit restrictive doesnt it ?
  7. less and less , like all companies involved in international markets that need investments to grow ,these assets decisions are probably not influenced by single CEO decision anymore but must report to Private equity investors and get consents from many people . for instance i believe Riverside have some sway now with this particular branch of Bohemia

    Doesnt mean Bohemia are not entitled to use commercially anything made with them . regardless we know they wont , however the choice is legally there from that spec :) . There have been FSX standard addons since arma 1 , i remember even the guy who makes Dayz made a plane that has not since been equalled many years ago , what BIS need to do is have an official BID page this would mirror the addons request thread and go like : I would like a Challenger 2 tank of x polygons :textured to : Standard : et etc then addon maker 1 will say : Ill make it for $100 Addon maker2 say ill make it for $95 winning bid for work gets the job , this way competition creates good market and maybe even the Chinese and Indians will flood it and we get 1000`s of addons for nice price ;)
  10. hi can you remove this old crew from arma2 it is crashing all the time if open as west and not empty , its very quick fix for you i`m sure ;). probably why bmp.p3d i think its hardcode to try stop violent crash , it doesnt exits at all just some way to stop game crash (normally) when a p3d is missing

Very strange but that binpbo log is not binarisng anything You pointing it to correct folder im on my tablet so cant test unfortunately but something wrong definitely there , no mention of rtm or p3d anywhere Are you using p drive ? As normal and two cfg patch definition , I never saw it , maybe I learned something here too :) I take a look tomorrow but hopefully it solved before then

Then you only need model.cfg and simple inherit from respective bissoldier I am on tabletat moment but all ansers are on addons and moddiscussion sticky character a3 There is all you need , if you get stuck I can help or ask question here and manywill guide you , it seems your already 95% there :)

    yeah , i think a few people would vote it up certainly . otherwise FSM`s are very good but its hard to get a way to implement to suite all and every scenario . FSM`s are ok for Niche things but for a generic grenade that any unit can throw it becomes a bit more CBA like set up where things are kept from breaking when the next guy adds one and its loaded after yours etc . of course for you there is the animchanged as grenades have a unique anim , maybe that is just as good as ammo handler for you in this niche event , i suppose but you have that loop waiting for it which i guess what you want to avoid https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA:_Event_Handlers#AnimChanged
  14. Hi , is the character all weighted nicely like BIS model namning too ? If so then i can help with config , however its not so hard if you alreayd have the model.cfg too , you can simply inherit , i presume you will use the naked body of Bis and this will be the uniform class or you have own Naked model too that you wish to use ?

    they are hardcoded unfortunately your on the right lines though , the nearest way of a psuedo ammoeventhandler is the ontimerscript from the muzzleflash effects grenadhand or thrown muzzle doesnt have one by default but one could be added as an event trigger or direct through the firedhandler as per the other weapons , which obviously is not ammo but back to fired handler

    Could be your mission or a saved mission perhaps ? Sorry im not to sure how the var get in that profile so cant help much beyond that , do you have old wasteland code or something like editor based object placement scripts you are running maybe ?

    could be saved Var in mydocs\arma3\yourplayername.vars.Arma3Profile try renaming and starting again see if it fixes , if not then likely its some todays fix made mistake and they will hotfix

    Arma 2 vs Arma 3 release

    Not much difference really and you can throw arma 1 in there too . Basically each release looks stunning but runs like shit , gradually more options are added to degrade the quality and the game becomes stable for all But not equally as stunning , but thats pc gaming min and rec specs The biggest change between A3 and A2 is cell size on the large terrain and of course physx , I believe A3 will take a long time to stabilise for the average pc if ever . In terms of content there is already 100s of addons and im not sure many play with BIS default in any iteration for long do they ?

  21. goto your profile and bottom left is add a game from there you can activate with the code you got originally
  22. can be many things without info check binpbo options files to copy includes *.rtm and *.rvmat check binpbo log check Model.cfg is correct and a copy is in the folder of the anim if the anim is not in the root check arma3 .rpt to see if error missing or cannot load .. rtm or muzzleflash refferences check the packed pbo by unpacking with eliteness to make sure files are being copied sound like model.cfg error or copy rvmat error

    the V thing is a complete travesty yes but i guess , they prioritise for now (hopefully) , is it a mistake some try to stepover a solid wall they probably think in the hierarchy of debugging. I believe its probably to do with Keyframe animation and collisionvertex model for that stance or something that cause it , but i am never shocked with this Engine :). best thing is to remember Paths for Ai as these Ai will walk exact to them wheter wall in way or not IIRC so make sure they are accurate too if you plan for AI style gameplay.

    Exactly :) in addition about the compexity also , its not good to havbe the components embeded or passing through one another , those planks should be simple boxes on the end not pass right through the larger sections , also with geo you have to make some compromise and maybe not be so precise . I`m sure we all so sometimes where the object pass through the more finite render detail , that piece is all about saving of the poly and complexity vs gamepaly of course and is down to the individual addon maker.
