My work is being illegally sold on World Zombie.ru
seamusgod replied to -martin-'s topic in BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE - GENERAL
yeah and with socialism or communism it won't be random scumbags, but the government that will take away your hard work. viva la revolution indeed. -
nothing worse than dropped support. thanks for the info, guys. won't be bothering with this.

More Accessible Terrain Creator
seamusgod replied to Montgomery's topic in ARMA 3 - TERRAIN - (BUILDER)
the assumption being that talented but inexperienced people cannot make something amazing. i guess that guy who made panthera was a vistor pro since birth. this argument is like shooting yourself in the foot. you don't want better tools and more access because you think it'll allow unskilled people to make bad maps. well, it'll also allow good mappers to make even better maps with more efficiency. shoot yourself in the foot some more, and do it on behalf of the modders, too. modding elitism is going to murder this community. edit: @ dmarkwik, those are some good looking dynamic terrain. lots of crevices make open space fighting more interesting with natural cover and not just random rocks everywhere. -
elaboration about how to improve effects
seamusgod replied to NordKindchen's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
for the impact effect, they could atleast make some use of sprites mixed in with particles instead of having everything as a particle effect, that's why they need to tone it down so much. too resource intensive. same with smoke, boy do those lag once you throw a couple. -
no, that's be self flattery, and would be bad. the type of mod you're talking about wouldn't be an independent project anyway, it'd be a team effort.

Sorely Unimpressed with Arma 3's Graphics as they exist in the Alpha.
seamusgod replied to Failberry's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
it's very hit and miss, visual wise. just the nature of the engine. -
Confirmation on this flashlight 'feature'?
seamusgod replied to DaRkL3AD3R's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
is this an engine limitation or a bug? hopefully bis gets right on that with an answer. -
because suppression has nothing to do with "uber realism", the only reason people think it's odd or difficult is because it was never in ofp or arma. now if they never had bleeding in the game, and people suggest they model bleeding or wounding, people like you will be crying about how it's too "uber realistic" arma is and will always be a realism game, and you have to face the fact that most people want more realism, not less, as technology advances.

the ai needs to look around in a natural and believable fashion and they need to react to spotted threats more quickly. right now, the ai basically stares into one direction the whole time they're in the game. unless you give them a waypoint, they won't change their facing. the ai in general just needs more autonomy to do things normal humans would do without being told and babysat the whole time. the commands will then be able to modify or override their behavior to create much deeper and more tactical maneuvers and actions.

would you say it was due to an inherent flaw in the way the engine calculates armor penetration and deflection? it seems the engine never really had anything more complex than hitpoints.

i agree, the fear about valve taking your work is unfounded i think. and i don't think they'd risk the negative reputation of taking a modder's work without explicit permission. but i think the real problem can be seen very easily just by going to some of the workshops, plenty of files uploaded with "wrong" credits. i personally have no problem with credits, maybe it's because i don't release my work, but i can understand how some people, specifically those who spend 10+ hours on a mod, would have a moral or ethical objection to seeing their work appear under someone else's name.

oh i get it, you aim to take advantage of his work. didn't mean to give you a heart attack.

consoles are a scam, plain and simply. they are an inferior platform being sold at jacked up prices to an ignorant market. i sincerely hope bis does not partake in this type of blatant conning.

where did you find all the names of the animations for the command center tableau?
-
nice, and are those female character models i see?
-
wait, isn't that the exact same part of pants from the game? why are you remaking the same thing?

a punch would be even more out of place than a takedown. at least a takedown would resemble cqb or matrial arts training that might be fitting for the seal divers. a punch looks like something that belongs in bar fight. and what are you going to do to a guy from behind? spam the punch button and watch your character do the stupid punch animation on the back of a guy's head and knock him out?

Elite suggestion: not being able to see your ammo
seamusgod replied to Sneakson's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
if bis made this game for the majority, it'd be a call of duty clone. anyway, this is a difficulty option, which are customizable. so if an "arma 3 majority" player doesn't like it, he doesn't have to turn it on. -
that's not representative of looking through nvg goggles. it doesn't restrict your view into perfectly circular "holes" like that.
-
that looks amazing. are you going to do one without the ugly mounting brackets?
-
another great suggestion. are you ever wrong?
-
you're not really risking your life, you're just risking the game session ending earlier and going to spectator or respawning. suppression isn't meant to stop you from doing something stupid, it's meant to penalize you for it if you choose to do it anyway. same as lowering your stamina when you sprint for too long. it also doubles as a means to modify behavior so people learn not to rambo, and play it smart and slow down. it worked so well in this regard in aa3. combined with the snap of bullets flying by, it made the battlefield come alive, which is the end goal of of any combat simulation.

IDF ( Israeli defense forces ) units,complete
seamusgod replied to excess3's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
would be great if bis releases the mlod for the arma 3 soldier instead of a naked guy so we can mod out the knee pads.
