Action Menu - must do better

    This at least.
  2. I have tried it. You have no idea what you are talking about. You can't hear your breathing even 1/4th of the decibel level indicated in the current game. Also I'm talking about 1rst person, (3rd person is fine) . Throw some headphones on and go for a jog in 1rst person. Then go for a job in real life. Not even close. As it is now it is Totally unrealistic.

Action Menu - must do better

This whole video hit the nail on the head especially starting form 3:00min with the door. There needs to be a dedicated action key. I thought spacebar was kind of going in that direction yet As of now I keep deploying my secondary weapon using spacebar when trying to use it out of range. In game now if you tap space bar twice in the middle of a field you will switch weapons, why? I'm also always pulling up commands for infantry I have no control over. Many wasted key clicks correcting small misclicks. These mis-clicks are the fault of the system being clunky and unintuitive and not really chalked up to user error. The whole middle scroll system is just clunky and sad. I remember thinking that when I first played arma2 " What the hell this system is silly" but I loved the game anyway and played though and eventually got sort of used to it . Then I was letting my try out the game for the first and he pointed out how great the graphics are but also how clunky the UI is. Watching him trying to get into a vehicle ,, oh man. It really needs looking at from a fresh set of eyes. A pure UI developer someone not nested in the ARMA series form the old days. I don't have the answers but a someone well versed in Game UI will.
  4. Yeah in real life when running you can hear it but it's not nearly the loudest thing you hear. I can hear far off birds, trees rustling my footsteps, even the wind much louder than my own breathing. As it is in game now the breathing is the loudest thing you hear (save gunfire) once it kicks in. Sounds like a guy is riding my back piggy back and panting into my ear at close range. It's not even so much about attaining absolute realism it's just too annoying. ---------- Post added at 21:31 ---------- Previous post was at 21:22 ---------- Good idea Here is the feedback ticket Vote it UP !! http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=12043 T

What is going on? No CTI servers??

Ok but Where or how should I be looking? When I click CTI filter in the multiplayer menu, there only server that pops up? Edit: My bad... I see a few servers (had max ping on), Just out of my comfortable ping range.

3rd person view and difficulty levels

This logic is ridiculous, come on. It's ok winning isn't everything just feel good about beating someone using vision exploits. Except for the fact that when in an indoor battle you can see around corners without exposing yourself using the 3rd person exploit? I would say that is a major tactical advantage and imho totally unrealistic.
  7. This might be a pipe dream but I thought I would ask. Is there anyway to have the chat text or server info scrolling on a second monitor? Just to help with the immersion and screen clutter. Not sure if this is even possible but if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear. T

3rd person view and difficulty levels

yep read it, that post is not relevant to what I have stated: The majority of users want 3rd person enabled only on recruit. Please read the poll and resulting chart and try to dispute. Many are ok with it also enabled on regular but the majority would like it only on recruit /noob mode.

3rd person view and difficulty levels

I read the poll perfectly fine thanks. The majority of people who voted wanted 3rd person by default only on recruit. You cannot deny that fact sorry please look again at the results of the poll. If you were to combine those that voted for no 3rd person at and those that only want it enabled on noob/recruit mode that would be whopping 79%! << Bohemia please take note . A large portion went a step further and said ok for regular too so ok duly noted. You cannot deny the main results of the vote though. 3rd person default = recruit mode, and possibly Regular.

3rd person view and difficulty levels

I'm going to bump this enquiring about any news on this? Can we have 3rd person disabled by default on anything higher than recruit? The poll seems to indicate this is what the people want. The more I play ARMA 3 in Multiplayer the more I realize that 3rd person is an exploit type wall hack that everyone seems to be using thus killing the emersion and realism. I find myself playing in 3rd person and hating it. I play it because I don't want to give up the advantage of miraculously looking over hills and walls because my enemies will most likely be using the same exploit.
  11. It plays pretty good now, there will always be small bugs and you can't please everyone. It will never be fully ready. It def needs more content (altis) because stratis seems to get boring very fast. I say: "Release the hounds!" let the dogs out!

This is quite encouraging. Good to hear!!

    Customize field of view!

it's not so much break the experience but really takes the edge and excitement off. Playing 3rd person is sort of like lounging back on the couch and cracking a beer to play a console, fun still but not really intense gaming, it's sort of like you are looking down on an avatar of your character, whereas in 1rst person you become the character. I know you can switch to 1rst person but why loose the advantage of omnipotent vision around corners, over walls and hills ;) zing! If there was a hot key in conjunction with say mouse scroll to toggle the FOV that would be really great although not sure if technically possible. Say hold alt and scroll back to widen the FOV. Imagine though: Always in 1rst person but quickly zooming far out (still same vertical perspective) to see your immediate surroundings like rock surfaces you may be hiding behind.

    Customize field of view!

I most Definitely support your suggestion. I think having the ability to quick change your FOV in game would really help with situational awareness in 1rst person view and hopefully lessen the need for the immersion killing 3rd person. ( I know about the "-" key but even more) Just played a few games of multiplayer PVP and the server actually had 3rd person disabled: It WAS AMAZING!!! Very intense like a whole new game.
  15. I am embarrassed to have to post this. I just assumed basic logic would set in and the devs would have implemented this long ago in the alpha. Please give us a mute global checkbox. I have never not once heard a piece of useful info uttered over global. That's not once in all my Arma 2 and 3 experience. I play mostly multiplayer. All it GLobal chat seem to be used for is expressing butthurt, trolling, whining, or debuting someones new Dub step-willie nelson remix for all the world to hear. "No prob Bro!! Just turn VON all the way down. " you say? Now I can't hear useful side chat team info. Faceplam, are you kidding me? Implement mute global in the audio options please.

    Fatigue effects

Not sure if serious? 100kg? I'm talking a pistol, binoculars and good attitude (as it stands now in game.) wiped after a small jog, thats not real. T

    Fatigue effects

Must agree with most in that the blur is not necessary and must go. I run in the heat often sometimes to exhaustion and never see any blur. Aiming a rifle? ok would not be able to until the heart rate slows, but not blurred vision. Also the ability to run longer would be more realistic. I know the men are carrying full combat great but remember they are trained military in top form, not computer potatoes like us. What is it now, only 100m jog then slow as molasses? Seems to short.
  18. Organizing what exactly? Are we talking about the same thing because I'm talking about Multiplayer PvP team vs team. I still don't get why opposing teams need to talk over global to each other, and have never heard any organizing happening, just trolling, or accidental, or accidental which usually starts off a wave of trolling.
  19. I know that many people play small 10 player coop missions with friends and that is awesome and some may say the way ARMA was meant to be played. In that case yes global is fun as you can broadcast to you whole army if need be. However , with multiplayer utilizing more than one team, I don't see how talking between opposing teams is relevant , unless of course to troll or convey butthurt. If you say sometimes there is useful info uttered over global please lay out a scenario for multiplayer where this could be true? Sure there is admin messages but those can be read. Fiddling with trying to find the offending player (or usually players) is a waste of time and effort as it seems to be a never ending task over a gaming session. I feel like I'm playing a side mission of "Whack-A-mole troll muting" T
  20. That is interesting. Before getting into PC gaming I always thought that anything above 30fps was pointless until I saw the smoothness of 60fps.
  21. I must say I'm in the same boat as you. Would love to recommend but the FPS performance is just awful and very inconsistent on multi player: Look one way 58 fps look somewhere else, down to 27 fps. Is there hope?
  22. I have always read excuses online that the ARMA series is too trusting to it's players, allowing them to script in objects for missions. That may have been the case in the past when the community was small, but the grim reality is the Dayz success has brought in a lot of new players not used to the difficulty level of the Arma game style. When they get but hurt , they want to break the game for others. Hacking and scripting is rampant, game breaking, and needs to be seriously dealt with. Weather it's from the overall game/ server structure or hiring a competent anti hacking company (battleeye I'm rolling my eyes at you for the Epic dayz anti hack fail)
  23. Well here is a link to a fail rate list from 2012. 7.03 percent,,,, that sir is abysmal. Take from it what you like. Either way OCZ has a track record of a terrible fail rate. They may very well be better now. http://www.behardware.com/articles/862-7/components-returns-rates-6.html
  24. As long as you buy any brand other than OCZ....... zing!! Joking aside this should be true, although we are still in the infancy of large scale ssd usage. I believe we need a few more years to determine if they are in fact reliable. Most brands offer a 3 year warranty.
  25. Tried it a bit last night. The servers seemed unstable, yet the game has some great potential. Looking forward to the progress! Also the Stratis map seems to lend it's self nicely to this game style.
