    JUMP please!!

Jumping (not to be confused with vaulting) is useless in combat (save for bunny hopping herp-derpery which none of us want), the closest thing that is legitimately useful is dive-to-prone, which is still not jumping. Vaulting serves to work in most situations and individual would think to use jump in most games. The only thing that should be added is the ability to climb over obstacles, even ones a bit taller than the player, like what is featured in ARMA 2's SMK animation mod. It would be great for flanking by getting over walls but being balanced by obviously making you VERY vulnerable while you do it.

The Fictional MX Rifle series, why?

MX and MXc should be replaced by carbine and full-length-barrel versions of the ARX160(except in 6.5 caliber, which it's compatible with in real life): http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_VpfOYB9NqPg/TUri3t2OD6I/AAAAAAAAAJk/Mq4YU1UAbAU/s1600/03-arx-160-carbine.jpg The SAW variant of the MX should be replaced with a 6.5mm version of this, the LSAT: http://www.imfdb.org/images/thumb/8/8d/LSAT.jpg/405px-LSAT.jpg
  3. By nature, Alpha's focus on basic content and functionality more than Beta's, which serve more as bug-hunting exercises for the games full, release-level content as a whole. So it makes absolute sense that the Alpha has only basic everything, basic infantry weapons, basic land/sea vehicles, basic helicopters and a basic, smaller map with basic mission structure and and basic editor capability. P.S. Yes I said "basic" too much.
  4. Seeing a larger FOV is both still realistic and doesn't allow for seeing around walls with zero exposure, so no. I don't care about people having visible FOV's closer to what real humans have, that's not where my issue lies. It's in seeing over/around stuff magically. Plus the field of view you get on a normal monitor in third person is still lacking compared to two or monitors, it's not the added FOV of 3rd person that is the problem. I keep my character's head on a swivel via freelook (soon I'll use TrackIR) so I can easily make up for it by looking around a lot which is a good habit anyway. I do however agree that in singleplayer or solely Co-op gamemodes there is no reason to restrict infantry third person. I hope I haven't conveyed an attitude of "3rd person user are stupid noobs", because that's not what I'm saying that and I'm sorry if I portrayed that attitude, I use third person myself (begrudgingly) because if enemies can exploit it I might as well also do so to even things out, but it still damages the tactical gameplay. As a very long time ARMA/OFP1 player (I was editing missions when you were in diapers :P) I sincerely believe this will help the gameplay, no offense, no QQ-ing, just an honest assessment of what will improve gameplay and tension.
  5. Not only would I be fine with this, IMO this should be default on all but the easiest difficulty. Some issues with other responses: -"Arma 3 isn't really realistic", it's the most realistic, whenever someone compares ARMA to CoD or BF, or something like those games you all reasonably respond with something similar to "ARMA is different, ARMA is a realistic and tactical game". Yet when I challenge the precious cheat-person perspective then everyone flip-flops the other way. If ARMA wasn't designed to be realistic and tactical then what the hell was it designed to be? -"It makes up for lack of periphery", Then what are the peripheral indicator dots, the FOV zoom out (keypad "-"),the incremental lean/stances, and freelook for? Those are how I make up for it. "Some people like 3rd person, it doesn't make them less 'elite' than you", no, some people are okay with it, and it's simply used as a crutch to avoid properly using freelook, and the other methods mentioned above. I'm not saying they're scum for using it, just that ARMA would benefit more from it being off for infantry by default. ARMA's combat is definitely meant to be tactical, and using tactics to be situationally aware and the sense of vulnerability and threat from ambushes and covert flanking are diminished when you can check around corners without exposing yourself or using any specialized equipment (UAV cameras, corner mirrors etc...)
  6. Go play a less realistic game then. I want to make it where my enemies can only spot me with realistic levels of caution and situational awareness, not cheat vision. This makes way more sense within the theme of the Arma series. The inclusion of infantry third person is an oversight, a mistake. I have played since OFP so I know what the hell I'm talking about. And to the idiotic arguments that they are at a disadvantage in 3rd because of lowered shooting abilities, most people just switch back to 1st when they are going to shoot anyway. So they have the benefits of both. This is just not in line with what ARMA is at its core and since this is on by default I have to get spotted and killed because of something unrealistic and unfair. If you are to afraid of change or aren't good enough to play properly, then too effin' bad the game will benefit from removing this. AT LEAST for infantry. ---------- Post added at 11:43 ---------- Previous post was at 11:38 ---------- A lot of former/current CoD and BF players that dabble in ARMA want to make pace-increasing, simplifying, and/or unrealistic changes to the game. I guess we should listen to them too.
  7. Because there are few servers like that. And I just feel being able to play a very realistic tactical combat game where NOT being able to magically see around is the only way of playing seem to make a lot more sense. There is no positive reason for it. ---------- Post added at 11:28 ---------- Previous post was at 11:26 ---------- Oh enough of this forum seniority crap, I've played since OFP's release and this has always bothered me. Don't flatter yourself because you had a forum account longer.
  8. Might I ask why omnipotent vision that is self-defeating of tactical movement and cautious situational awareness is so essential to Arma 3?
  9. Now it seems within 1-5 minutes of joining a server I freeze up. I can tell any other pattern to its cause though, because last night I was fine.
  10. I just want an IFV, a Tank, and a real two-seater Attack Heli (with a rotating turret and varied payload) for each faction. That's all. Maybe some independent soldiers.
  11. Unlike map location indicators for your player, or crosshairs, 3rd person is actually gamebreaking. Being able to see around corners without exposing anything is TOO MUCH! Remove it. Maybe make vehicles an exception. There is no reason you NEED third person to do well, it's cheating to use it in PVP, without a doubt. For people complaining about lacking FOV's/Field of view, it's called FREELOOK. One quick glance in a direction gives you periphery awareness without the magical clairvoyance to see around walls.

AI in HMG vehicles too accurate against helis.

If you think that's what I'm doing, no wonder you're dismissing my complaint, I'm talking flying at 700 meters at over 120km/hr at horizontal ranges of 500 meters, , or I'm going so fast and low AND dodging around hills and trees so much they can only see me for about one second. You're acting like I'm hovering towards them head on 100 feet off the ground in a straight line. Trust me, the shot's they are making are ridiculous, you definitely can't compare what I'm doing to what the littlebird was doing in the A2 OA vid posted in this thread.
  13. If my helicopter was getting hit easily, that would make sense and not bother me. However, HMg Hunters and Ifrits seem to snipe me out of the cockpit with easy when I am moving at considerable range and moderate speed. That' overly accurate. I even lowered the AI skill level for enemies to 55, but it persisted. It's probably an Alpha issue but I feel I should bring it up anyway. P.S. Infantry Machinegunner slao have this issue to a lesser degree.

AI in HMG vehicles too accurate against helis.

Like I said it would be reasonable if they were hitting the Heli easily and damaging the components. But come on, they are hitting ME, THE PILOT within 5 shots!

    Choppers - Too floaty/easy

A hovering rotorcraft is floaty? Ya don't say?

    Russians

I think you should add full futuristic/"Extremely Modern" Russians. A quick Infantry example: Primary Weapons: Rifles: AK 12 .308 (Battle Rifle, possibly fictionally "embelished" version with extended barrel and more "Battle-Rifle-like" features), AK12 6.5mm (fictional 6.5mm variant of the real gun), ASh 12.7 bullpup (it has a Beowulf style caliber that is a shortened .50cal/12.7mm), AEK971 6.5mm , AN94 Abakan 6.5 (this gun might be in the full game already, check out the non-caseless 6.5 mags for opfor, the say they work with the "Abakan"). SMG's: PP91, AEK918G (9x19mm version) Shotguns: KS-K LMG's: PKP, RPK12 6.5 (fictional SAW variant of the AK12, basically a futurized RK in that caliber). Pistol's/Machinepistols: AEK919K, SR2 Veresk, MP446 Viking Launchers: Same as current OPFOR
