    AI on buildings

Thanks a lot Sander. Now could you be a bit more specific on which buildings positions exist? I am currently editing on the South Asia map that comes with Take on Helicopters and more specifically in the Shapur area. So some intel would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Two simple issues bother me. 1] How can you lock on an enemy plane while you are flying with a military jet? I have tried locking on helicopters with sidewider missiles but nothing seems to happen. Am I doing something wrong or is helicopter "locking" unavailable? 2]When I land via a parachute I always tend to get injured. Something really annoying taking into consideration that afterwards I can not aim correctly. There is no control while I am descending whatsoever. Sometimes I spin around and some not. I don't seem to get it. What am I doing so wrongly? A prompt reply much appreciated.

    Missile lock and parachutes

Thanks man. I did as you suggested and everything went well. The only thing is that I didn't need to hold the right mouse button to lock. I just instantly pressed it and the green square appeared and so on. A minor issue off course. Well as it seems if you get shot by any kind of AA gun, you are instantly injured or something like that. I tried parachuting after accumulating no damage at all and no injuries were reported. Unfortunately I don't seem to be able to control the parachute even though I have managed the parachuting tutorials of Arma 2 successfully. So is there something special to be made in order to parachute correctly and not uncontrollably?
  4. Well I know that there is a significant amount of threads as for these issues but I have failed to work things out. Since I am relatively new at mission scripting and I can only make do with the basics I would really appreciate some help. I am using a combination of Take on Helicopters and Arma 2 content and I would really like to have a first aid function in my mission. So how exactly can someone achieve such a thing? I mean healing at ambulances is possible, you get injured, your aim is inaccurate, you can't do nothing but crawl when seriously injured and all of these things, but that's it. How can I enable my teammates rescuing and healing each other? -----------------------------------------------------------------EDIT------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Come on guys... Doesn't anybody have the slightest clue of what I could try? It is a fun spoiler not having this element...

    Missile lock and parachutes

Thanks for the heads up. Will keep away. I have only tried with one type of helicopter and I will be more specific when I check which that is. And I only kept the target in the circle so as for it to lock. I didn't press any other button. I will once I can. Well there have been some occasions when my jet was critically damaged but most of the times I am out of ammo and since there is no way to reload I just eject to fight on foot. And when my jet is damaged the AA guns are causing damage to the wings and the engine but no bullet seems to be causing harm to me, the pilot. Is it that you get injured once you are shot at any part of the plane?

    Missile lock and parachutes

Many thanks. Things are more transparent now. Will try it out as soon as I can. It is really frustrating to try and shoot down slow moving helicopters with the front turret. Now it will be hard to fly via joystick and press the right mouse button at the same time, so is there another way of locking on a target? Is it possible to change the default button? I am on a remake of the Shapur_100_Revisited mission which was made for Take on Helicopters and was greatly enhanced by the Arma 2 content. And no, I am not using any ACE mod. In fact I don't even know what that is. Will it help somehow?
  7. I am currently trying to work on a mission but my skills are very limited so I would appreciate some help. What I would like to know is how to place way-points so as for the enemy AI to move to a certain location. I would like to make enemy patrols so as for the sniper and stealth assault teams to have some hard time moving around. When I try to copy such way-points from other missions, nothing happens so I am kind of stuck. Hoping for a quick reply... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------EDIT-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now this is hilarious! :D I asked for someone to help me on placing waypoints and nothing happened. I hope you guys didn't have the time to explain this to me. Because it was kind of simple. At least the simple things. And this is the editing section. So if anybody read this thread and doesn't know how to place waypoints, here's the thing: You just select a unit and then you double click on a position on the map, while you have selected waypoints from the top right "corner". Then you select move or anything else and the AI just moves. And there is the section cycle which forces the AI to keep moving patrolling a certain location.
  8. The only thing that I can tell you is that according to which type of soldier you choose the player to be in the editor, the clothing will be different. You can use pilot or rifleman and then the player will indeed have different clothes. Hope this helped!
  9. Take a look at hosting these missions. You can play them in multiplayer mode and "single-player" I believe. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?156042-Patrol-Ops-2-Rearmed http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?150398-MP-Combat-Rescue Now I have altered some missions but I will have to ask for permission if I am to give it to you. We'll see...
  10. Well that is not true you know. There are missions and certain servers being started at times that require such addons. You can yourself take a mission and add some Arma content by using the editor. That is by not releasing it, since you should ask permission by the people that made it in the first place.
  11. This problem has occurred to me only when no LAN or Internet cable was plugged in my PC. All of the "symptoms" are a match so this should be it. Now the reason for this happening could be because you haven't allowed the game to run through your firewall, an antivirus blocking it or maybe a WiFi connection failure.
  12. If I have understood correctly you can find downloadable community missions from the Custom Scenarios TOH sub-forums. And just to point out that after you have installed the Rearmed patch you should go to the Expansions section in your TOH starting menu and see if your Arma games are activated. If not then you can not possibly use any of their content.
  13. A simple and rather quick question. How on earth do you move your searchlight of the helicopter while you are the copilot? The searchlight seems to be moving by itself so as to point to a particular direction. If you use the rudder it moves so as to shed light to the aforementioned location. So you could be flying with the searchlight pointing at your rear!!! A prompt reply would be greatly appreciated...

    Arma 3-TOH similarities

Nope. No problems have been reported. I have personally tested MP fast-roping and no malfunctions occurred whatsoever.

    Arma 3-TOH similarities

Due to some posts and threads I would like to mention that TOH has indeed got fast roping whereas Arma 3 technically hasn't. You can transfer troops and they can fast rope on buildings and in general in the battlefield. In one occasion there was a sniper being fast-roped under the cover of darkness in a forest so as to take out some AA guns so as for the choppers to be safe to act. It has been applied to both single and multiplayer missions and it is really challenging for the pilot and a great thrill for the infantry units. Maybe I will post a picture of it sometime in the near future....
  16. When exactly is this mentioned because in normal controllers nothing as such is requested. It happens automatically I suppose. There is no need to change it. Just push your pedal forward after you have double clicked the left pedal. There ain't no option. You just have to move the specific axis. Then everything should happen automatically. The specific axis will appear in written form on the top of the right box.
  17. Welcome to the forums for instance. Some nice and sophisticated software you have got here. Now I have managed to find some time and conduct some research and I found here: in the comment's section, that the Pro flight trainer mentioned that it is compatible. Mere exact: DCS Black Shark is also fun to use, other sim (TOH, etc...) have some good aspects too. it all depends what you're looking for. our commercial customer sometimes have their own Software platform. where and what do you currently fly? Now maybe I have managed to pinpoint your problem. You see if the controller is recognized in general you should be ok. In order to find out if it is recognized go to Options, Controls, Controllers. There logically you should find your controller. By double clicking you can change the sensitivity by altering some columns that you should find there. Now if the pedals ain't working then you should go to the controls section and check if you have "told" the game what to do when you press the pedals. Go to right pedal, double click and then push the right pedal. If it works you should see some phrase appearing at the right part of the window. Hope this helped. Have a fantastic TOH experience!:)
  18. I know that this really is an old thread since it goes a year back but I would like to suggest some improvements. I have personally played this specific mission a dozen times and it is still great fun, playing with friends but what we would like to see would be some night action. We would really appreciate a release with the time altered so as to use night vision. I mean we have already got night vision goggles. Another thing would be fast-roping. Since it exists in TOH and it is something unique, Arma hasn't, why not implement it here. Off course I really don't know how much complicated this is. I hope it won't be a great burden. It would really be an enhancement!

    Take On Arma

I believe it all comes down to the flight models. That is the most difficult part and I am not sure which will be the way to battle this issue.
  20. Well what has been bothering me is that although we are dealing with a great game indeed there don't seem to be enough missions. I mean there are some really astonishing ones but they are just a few and some of them require OA something which many of us have not acquired, myself included. So I now it is not simple but it would really be great if someone with the required skills designed simple missions which do NOT require OA or Hinds. It would really be great. I mean there is an oil rig map for instance that has never been used. Why not make a mission of troop transportation on an oil rig captured by terrorists? It would be a great idea. Or just make some simple attack on an enemy building with helicopters and troops. Now that there are more players online it would be great if we would give them some even more motives. And if required I would really like to test mission if it would help. Hope more missions eventually appear! Many thanks to guys who have already spent time and have released some missions! Any other mission suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Awaiting progress. -------------------------------------------------------------------EDITED-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now that is a shame indeed. As it seems there ain't much progress. Anybody, with even the slightest skills, can't you help upgrade this game? There has been a great while when nothing new has occurred. I believe that there should be an extra mission pack for this game. Why leave it aside? We should try to keep this game alive. Convoy Attack, Shapur Revisited, all great missions which have caused much fun. Can't there be more? Even the same ones with just some slightest changes? The TOH supporters would really like to hear reports of some missions just in their first stages. Isn't there anything?
  21. JohnKalo

    Any new missions?

A nice fact then. I hope that more missions are finally going to implement this element. Shapur Revisited for example sadly hasn't got fast roping.
  22. JohnKalo

    Any new missions?

I wonder why these scripts haven't being used yet. Whatever maybe in the near future. Too bad. Why make an oil rig map with the only structure being an oil rig and let it so.... simple?
  23. JohnKalo

    Any new missions?

Thanks mate! Now that is astonishing. I hope you guys can understand what we have here. Fast roping isn't even available in Arma 3!!! Having something like this will greatly enhance how unique this game is!!! Best of Luck with your creations!!!
  24. Can't wait to try it out!!! Thanks for spending time doing this!!! :):):)

    AI, other issues

ONLY? Man 180 hours is some 7 DAYS!?!?!? But whatever.:) I know what you mean. The flight models are unacceptable. There has been some discussion here: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?161262-Arma-3-TOH-similarities But the progress is belittling unfortunately. Something very disappointing to say the least. The armor is too unacceptable. By these elements, the different armies would by no means have choppers. It would be a waste of money and human lives. I mean I am a great fan of TOH where things are way better. The flight models are realistic and the damage but still, after years of experience,, no bragging,, handling a light helicopter in the battlefield is extremely difficult. That is because there us no bullet proof glass, which means that every soldier in the area can bring the chopper down.
