  2. After posting in the A3Map pack thread, I began a conversation about porting other maps using AIA. Many people probably wonder if you can play other maps and yes you can, there have been some people I've read have done this. My personal findings so far were: Clafghan Esbekistan --------bugged by a black line across screen FATA --------bugged by a black line across screen Sangin desert/winter Anyone else care to share what they have managed to use aswell using AIA?? If you are wondering how to do this, use PW6 and make a collection and add the maps to that collection and load the game. Proabaly best doing it without a heaps of addons like units etc, because the load time can take some time.

    I used pw6 and added Claffghan to my AIA collection, load the editor and there it wsa, went in game and there I was in the hills of Semighanistan! I thought I was in the AIA thread earlier, as these topics kinda cross over with speak about the same maps. Just had a proper play test on FATA and Esbek in helos and fixed wing. there seems to be a big black line running through the middle of the screen on my game so if you do play this I'd see what yours is like too. Without getting too off topic on the thread, I am reiterating what I said earliewr about those two maps.     I think I'll give helmand a blast then and see what its like. I know Sangin from A2 is nice too. I get a huuuuuge FPS count on that map. Come to think of it I have tried out FATA before and I know that worked. Its not bad tbh. EDIT: just tried esbekistan that works too.
  6. sounds great to my ears so far! One thing though, there are parts that crackle, I like the "popcorn" effect for distance shooting, but I can hear this crackle? as if the sound is closer than it should be. It is either my speakers or the recording of the video??

    did you know that you can port it over using AiA? I've done that an it looks pretty smart tbh. Not all the maps work, I will point this out. I know panthera doesn't either, tried sooo many times. Has there been talk of falluja being ported over yet, that would be nice. there are a number of afghan style maps I'd like to see tbh. FATA, Kunar, Helmand, Esbekistan. all would look sweet in A3.

    lol! yeah when its done! :rolleyes: its kinda the thing around these boards where a modder tends to give an approximate date or none at all. Giving themselves a release date not only puts themselves under pressure to release but also feeds the community to bug them about it asking , when is it done? when's it coming? whats the due date? why is it not here yet? you said it would be today?? Why not?? where is it? etc etc etc...........! persistant whining about it not being available when the modder said it would be, I think you get the picture etc etc. By the looks of it Smokedog still has some stuff to do and like he said, "only 2 hands", if you can mod? why not pm him and help him out if you want it sooooo badly!

    true what you are saying on the psychological aspect, if someone is shot by a silenced rifle or pistol, they will not react the same way they would to a round fire from an unsuppressed weapon. They would more than likely hear the shot and then find out they have been hit, by either the impact of the bullet (which would make them flinch) or death if hit in the face.

    A-10C for Arma 3

    Is it just me or is everyone thinking how nice it would be to have the cockpit functionality in all aircraft for the Arma series? I know Nodunit and Franze spent along time making the Ah64D, and with a considerable amount of help to get the project working. But, with that said, the A10 seems to have been built pretty quick using that functionality. I think Nodunit and Franze have opened the floodgates now and started most of the ground work to have this sort of cockpit operation for all the vehicles. I'm no modder and would love to be able to do it myself. but think of the possibilities of realism for clans and mil-sim groups. Pilots have to "warm" the engine first before they can fly, this then adds real waiting time for ground units wanting CAS if an aircraft is on alert 5. I might be getting off point here but for Mil-sim groups this new addition to aircraft addons is quite frankly AWESOME! Credit to Nodunit and Franze for pioneering this type of addon and credit to Peral for his work on the A10. I can't wait!

  15. Be nice if it were to happen, lots of bugs to sort and lots of hurdles to jump. If i knew how to mod i'd deffo help out. Alot of groups don't like using AiA for the fact that you need CO to use it or at least one of the other modes of the game series anyway. So having a standalone would negate the need to have one of the other arma games. I do find i like using aia more for the maps and content rather than using the a3map pack to play a2 maps. They're abit buggy atm aswell as a lack of brit units for a3 for my taste. I've got the stalker units and various other bits, but using the ch47, rksl's typhoon, i just can't avoid aia for it.

I gotta say folks if this is not being worked on for what ever reason to get it into A3, I am amazed that no-one has tried yet. If I knew how to mod and do things that would enhance the game I would have already started. Was this a BIS map for TakeOn or was it community made?? I did say that some of the buildings you cannot walk into, whihc is true, but alot of the buildings in that town are the bigger ones from Takistan and Zargabad, very very CQB, lots of tight alley ways and plenty of rooftop fighting. You can even go from roof to roof in some places. I urge people to check it out. For this reason only I reckon AiA should be a standalone release.
  17. I played AiA with the tkoh maps earlier tonight, omg those maps are huuuuge! South asia must be three times the size of altis. With that being the case does anyone know where a thread exists discussing improving the textures for it? Terrain is ok, nice mountain ranges (could do with being higher), roads need better imagery and buildings need access. I'd like to know basically if anyone knows if this is being worked on? Flying these maps and moving about would bring a massive amount of immersion. I placed a waypoint in one corner and started flying from the opposite diagonal corner, the distance was 150 km. i thought it was a glitch. But no, flying around was ace. I even looked at my fps, atm because it has lower textures i was in the nineties. Wtf??? Anyway, anyone got any ideas of direction they can point me??
  18. i feel your frustration mate! I've spent many lost hours trying to get things to work in arma.   19. I used Pw6 to get AIA so doing any messing around with the configs on/off I'm not sure about. I never had to adjust anything, if he has the complete set he should be fine shouldn't he without having to juggle files around and stuff. Same goes for the replacement packs( which is what exactly??). I just find it easier using Pw6 now for all the updates on things. Maybe that's his best place to go if he wants to play with it??? IDK!
  20. You must be selecting the faction as iether nato or Csat. if you want the A2 content you need to select US, USMC, BAF etc in the faction class to get the A2 units. Same goes for Opfor, the russians, insurgents etc etc. I have found though if I put a group down, there are A3 opfor units that spawn as part fot he groups, normally for me its a TL or heavy gunner. I just delete those in the editor and try to find a decent replacement for the units in the single unit placements and attached those to the group cranking up their rank if I want them as a TL. @Kju, I think a standalon release would be great for this mod. I love playing AiA in A3, really makes a difference to the experience I have in game. With the updated brit units and L85 rifles, it really feels like I got my moneys worth with the games. Thanks for you work btw, really enjoy what you have done. :)

  23. ok my mistake. But still Kudos to the Dev team on this anyway. I like the sound of the HM forces mod pack, about time something like that came out as a complete package. Gets a bit tedious downloading bits and bobs from various links and having a tonne of different mods eating away at the HD.

    Minihattan Island - A3

    Just from my impression on the images, NIIIIICE WOOORK! bet its taking abit of time to get things in place for this. I can see this becoming a fave for some Dayz fans tbh, kinda reinacting World War Z. lol! May I make a suggestion though. All the Skyscrapers look very samey. Any way of adding variation to the structure types. There seems to be a lot of glass and not much brick on some buildings, you know like having apartment blocks and various other structures. just a thought.
  25. Hey SmokeDog, loving the aircraft! I also love your Sangin map. that its a fave of mine to play. I've ported that into A3 aswell and loving the lighting in there. If you want I can help test this for you aswell. I was wondering if anyone was actually doing these types of aircraft after watching the Brize Norton series on Sky 1. Just a note on your demo vid. I saw the bank/turn looked a little too slick, is there a way of making it heavier so that it doesn't turn on a penny if you know what I mean. that being said, still looks like a master piece of work though. Details in the cockpit are wicked!
