What kind of graphics card could I buy that would be an upgrade and still work with my set up?

I just bought my computer about a year ago and just recently downloaded Arma 2 from steam. Im trying to play the DayZ mod and when I launch the game it loads up fine, but in game it runs so slow and choppy. I even put it at the lowest setting. I was just wondering if my CPU is suppose to handle it or if I can upgrade it somehow. My specs are Windows 7 Intel Core i5-2300 CPU@2.80 GHz Installed physical memory 6.00 GB Available memory 4.17 GB nvidia GeForce 405 I downloaded updates for my graphics card and that hasnt seem to have done anything. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
