  1. Advice for that would be go into the Arma 2 forum and ask, many of the modules will be ones used there. Not only that but its probably something to ask when the game is released proper rather than a WIP type question. I am not putting you off asking, just think you may get more answers there for now..:)

    No I’m sure they won’t feel any disrespect whatsoever.:rolleyes:. There isn’t an old guard, BIS sold, well its hush, hush, but lets say over 300,000 of the series, lot more owing to dayz now, so lets say towards a million copies of the series, maybe more, who knows don't forget its hush, hush.:confused: There is only 8000 or so members on this forum, probably a lot more now, but the last time I looked. Lets say around a third of them are really active, here on this forum, we’ve hit a round about figure, which is probably around 2500 (maybe less), sounds o.k. yes it is, there are only 32 in my community (I'm the only active one on this forum from my 'community', well group of friends, its not a community), that’s the people I play the game with, but there are probably 100’s maybe even thousands of small communities like that, we play the game with a couple of those, ones we have come to know personally, over time, really from ASL/VASL days. So what am I saying, well this is an open community, open to anyone that sticks by the rules on the whole and plays the series or just finds it interesting. Therefore asking members to wade in and stop the new ones from posting, is frankly ridiculous, we are all part of an open community for the BIS series, many of us will be members of smaller communities, where, becoming a member there may have very different rules. If you want that, go join a clan or community that is less open than this one or form one yourself. But don't moan about people wanting to try the series out, we wouldn't have a game if it wasn't for them...;)

    Will Arma 3 replace Arma 2?

    They will coexist for a long time I think. Probably longer than any of the other titles did. Arma 2 was soo well modded, its going to be interesting to see though.. Get diving in A2 and it will be even more interesting..;)

    ArmA2 ACE = CoD ???

    I don’t think it’s a case of f*** those guys. There may lie an answer to the problem.;). We have all, well most of us, got used to playing A2, so its natural that some, certainly not all, will take time to adjust. I think some of it is down to third person and first person, I always play in missions in first person, therefore don’t look much at the animations my character does. Now those that play in third person are forever watching their character, so notice the imperfections more. I looked at the video OP, and thought, well it didn’t look bad in A2, in some respects I would maybe like some of the A2 movements back just smoothed out. But it’s a WIP so what we see now may not end up in the game anyway, could be better, could be worse. I didn’t find A2 controls that bad, so maybe there’s another reason some players prefer the new way more, maybe find the new controls better, I haven't even re-configed my controls yet. Still, it’s a way off from proper release yet so anything can be put in or taken out or simply made better or worse. The ai is my only concern, if thats not made better, then movement types are pointless.. We shall see..

    Mouse Smoothing

    I have mouse smoothing on 100%, just better I find. Sensitivities at default, then set the mouse up properly in the mouse software. I have the Roccat Kone Plus, nice and easy to set it up correctly. I just want smooooothhhh.:)

    Visuals two steps forward - one step back

    I don’t think vehicle interiors are great the Ifrit is a little better than the Hunter, but overall they are nothing to go mad over. I think some mod vehicles will hopefully change that later. Performance wise, terrain and vd are fps killers for sure, but most of the rest can go on Ultra. I turn PP off (never liked PP), v-sync off (never have it on), and AA x2, PIP off (waste of time, hope that they port blakes mirrors), terrain standard and vd 1200. Thats it really, put the rest on Ultra, other than particles, thats limited at very high. Tree's are o.k. but really the whole thing just looks smoother, if anyone can understand that, in looks, nothing else. Seems like it went through a filter of some type and came out refreshed..:)

    Streetlamp upgrade - alpha I

    Thanks for this addon, not tried it yet but I'm sure it will work out great. Oh and I laugh every time I walk past a streetlight, could be why I keep getting shot:p
  9. PP = off AA = 2x Terrain = standard VD = 1200 The rest at maximum, no use using v/high against ultra, for me there is no difference. Here's the sky ---------- Post added at 15:46 ---------- Previous post was at 15:38 ---------- I don't have any problems with buildings/fences, only a slight stutter as said earlier in the thread, same type of ground as @leon86, no grass soil type ground. The only thing it was doing is dropping my fps by 30 to top 50's, that's sort of sorted a little now, in that area now I get mid 70's but thats still 10 or so lower than I did get which was in the top 80's at the airfield on that ground.
  10. This is interesting, so is it a stutter fest for you in the scenario’s or is it also in the ‘Editor’ ? Also, not sure of your spec’s, but why is it that way for you and not for me ? Are newer graphic cards therefore pointless where Arma 3 or in-fact this series is concerned, in your view ? We know its cpu, does it seem that the series appeals to older cpu’s, i.e. have the newer cpu’s gone too far for this series to work properly regards the game not the graphics ? Edit: What are the solutions for you, I don't seem to need any yet, i.e if you sat down at BIS now for the next month, what would you do to correct it ?
  11. Mission design and the right ai mods, that will add the nerve factor. Not fear I think its the wrong word, too strong, but nervous yes, you need to know your ai are good, really good, that they may not do as expected, that’s when it gets exciting/nervy… Won’t happen in Arma 3 yet, may never happen..
  12. I haven’t done any of the scenario’s that came with Arma 3. But on the map on my own (editor) in sunny weather lots of shadows etc, mostly Ultra, on my older A2 pc its anything from 60-95fps. I did a scenario where I put 40v40 run straight at each other in the open countryside, I was a bystander, so 81ai in total, more or less all engaged at once with everthing going off, I was still getting 40ish average with more or less the same settings. The only thing I do change is vd I use 1000 or 1200 on the ground (real fps eater I find), obviously more in the air. The terrain detail I have at standard (another fps eater for me), 2x AA, no pp the rest on Ultra or the highest it will go. Its performing really well with my older pc, I would imagine I’m going to get problems with my new pc, having read on the forums here, people with similar setups, so waiting to put a hard copy into that when the game is released proper, should be better by then (hopefully), also may change the card in there before that.. Maybe the game is not using the newer upto date cards that well, old tech perhaps working better on slightly older cards, who knows, bit odd at the moment. I only put the DDE version on as I knew I was putting it on my older pc, was originally going to get the supporters edition. Didn’t really expect any performance at all, just really to look around at low fps. Must say its been a big surprise for me, pleasant surprise but in a way unpleasant as well considering, as said earlier, what I have read here on the forums and my new pc spec, not sure now which card to go for if I change the 7970, maybe wait for the 8*** series..

  14. I have CMS, got it the other day, haven’t used it yet, what with all the A3 hype, but I’m sure its going to be great. Will add a whole new, much needed, medical side to missions. Thanks for sharing it and I look forward to including it in all missions from now on..:)

    Napf Island beta

    I’ve just been driving around Napf and just wanted to say, (having been lost in the Arma 3 hype since the Alpha came out), what a fantastic job you have done with this island, how much it has come on and just how much Arma 3 has got to live upto.. Great job, thanks for sharing it..:)

    Low CPU utilization & Low FPS

    Testing performance, mixture of msi-afterburner & PlayClaw4 for monitoring. Many Ultra settings 2500vd. I wouldn't play using 2500 usually, not in A3 yet, anyway, just for the test. Screenshot 1: Mix of msi_afterburner (GPU = 98%, FPS = 61.8) & PlayClaw4 (CPU = 84%) Screenshot 2: All PlayClaw4 (FPS = 50, GPU = 97%, CPU = 73%) Settings for this test: Res = 1920 x 1080 (1 monitor 27†LED/LCD, DP connection used instead of HDMI) VD Overall = 2483 (as near to 2500 I could get without messing around. Having tested a little, I like 1000vd in town or 1200vd out & about) Object = 1503 (auto with above. Will use whatever the auto is with above) Shadow = 101 (tried to get this to 100 dead, seems it likes 101 for me, so that’s it) V-sync = Disabled (never play with it on) AA = 2x (seems fine) PPAA = FXAA Ultra (sharp & crisp, that’s how I like to play) ATOC = All trees (just the way I like it) HDR = Standard AF = Ultra (little to no fps difference) PIP = Disabled (waste of time, blakes mirrors is far better, hope it gets ported to A3 from A2) Dynamic Lights = Ultra Texture Quality = Ultra (little to no fps difference) Objects Quality = Ultra (little to no fps difference) Terrain Quality = Standard (massive fps differences on settings, if low will boost another +20fps, if Ultra will sink -20fps) Cloud Quality = Ultra Shadow Quality = Ultra Particles Quality = Standard (could probably have it on v/high, but really not bothered with it yet) Running the game on my A2 (pc1, in sig), runs really well.. Waiting for hard copy of the game ‘proper’ to install on my new pc.
  21. If for some reason adding it to your line isn’t working, why not just enable it in game via ‘Expansion’, in the menu..;)

  24. What number are we on now, can't keep up with Steam, is it: 0.51.103078 ? if it is then its still seems the same..
