Ramadi Iraq is under construction
Harzach replied to quincy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Fantastic! I love Fallujah 1.2, and for the most part think Shezan did a great job taking over for you, but one thing about it bothers me - "The City of Mosques" is completely devoid of mosques. Not a single minaret in the entire city. So ... mosques! -
Impossible to play online / Any other ways to find servers?
Harzach replied to Claystone's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
Yes. Don't download a bunch of mods then look for a server that uses them. That's the "wrong" way. Look for a server (or better, a community) that offers the gameplay you are looking for and join it/them, using the modset they are using. -
im not lagging but the peoples players are lagging

What's your ping on these servers? -
I'm definitely not a nay-sayer. I love technological advancement - heck, my industry thrives on it. This thing seems pretty cool and I'm sure there will be plenty of games and gamers taking advantage of it (or not - see: Novint Falcon). For me, however, the disconnect from my surroundings is a nonstarter.

I'll alert the nice folks over at Eagle Dynamics.

I can't imagine anyone uses the D-pad/thumbstick on a gamepad/gameboard instead of a WASD cluster. Most, if not all, of them have a cluster of keys marked as such. I use a Belkin N52 (actually the Razer version right now) and have the D-pad set up as four keys. The scroll wheel is also set up as three keys. So in addition to my WASD cluster, I have 19 keys to play around with, not including the 10 on my G700. I rarely, if ever, need look at the keyboard. That said, I would never use a device like the Oculus, as I generally have things like TS3, server panel, etc. on other screens. And I don't want to spill my coffee fumbling around for it.

Just face/headgear, which is enough.

As Janez said, that is determined by the mission you are playing. Every mission is different - you might be a US Army medic, or a Russian Spetznaz leet operator, or a USMC redshirt on an LHC... Your "character" isn't of any specific nationality, and is not a member of any specific force, until you start a mission.

No idea, sorry. And frankly, unless you can bump it up to triplehead/Eyefinity, you would probably be better off sticking with one monitor. I just don't see the benefit of an asymmetrical display.
-
You might find that the central bezels make using vehicles and vehicle-mounted weapons next to impossible, as aiming deadzone has no effect there.

That's handy! Thanks for the link.

Arma 2 -Joining a server error,,You cannot play/edit....
Harzach replied to skiTeL911's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Run Arma 2. Exit from the main menu. Run Operation Arrowhead. Exit from the main menu. Right click on Operation Arrowhead and you should now see an option to run as Combined Operations. -

Bravo, LJH! Sound is particularly important to me (in gaming and IRL), so I'm really looking forward to playing with this. Big thanks to all involved!

No need for a trigger. The "distance" value is the radius in meters extending from your marker. If you want to clear a certain area without discrimination, just change the distance value. For example, if you want to clear an area that falls within 500 meters of your marker, just change it to: findHouses = { private ["_buildings","_minPositions","_enterables","_alive"]; _buildings = nearestObjects [_this select 0, ["House"], _this select 1]; _minPositions = (_this select 2) - 1; _alive = _this select 3; _enterables = []; { if ( format["%1", _x buildingPos _minPositions] != "[0,0,0]" && EP1HOUSES && !(typeOf _x in ILLEGALHOUSES) && (alive _x || !_alive) && (_x distance (getmarkerPos "exclude_location") > 500) )) then { _enterables set [count _enterables, _x]; }; } forEach _buildings; _enterables }; If you want to clear a specific building, change it to ~10. Just keep in mind that the grid will still be "active" if there are any other "legal" buildings in that grid. If you want to add multiple markers/exclude locations, just tack them on like so: findHouses = { private ["_buildings","_minPositions","_enterables","_alive"]; _buildings = nearestObjects [_this select 0, ["House"], _this select 1]; _minPositions = (_this select 2) - 1; _alive = _this select 3; _enterables = []; { if ( format["%1", _x buildingPos _minPositions] != "[0,0,0]" && EP1HOUSES && !(typeOf _x in ILLEGALHOUSES) && (alive _x || !_alive) && (_x distance (getmarkerPos "exclude_location") > 1000) && (_x distance (getmarkerPos "exclude_location_1") > 200) && (_x distance (getmarkerPos "exclude_location_2") > 20) )) then { _enterables set [count _enterables, _x]; }; } forEach _buildings; _enterables You don't have to name them "exclude_location_x", of course. As long as each marker has a name and is called correctly in the functions.sqf, it will work.

Kicked for Wrong Signature File (Retail Version)
Harzach replied to Ciph3r's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
You need to define "all servers", as again, you can only join DayZ servers via DayZ Commander. -
Looks like the default view distance needs to be bumped up for that mission?
-
That looks pretty great, but apparently only supports official maps. Here's the topic for it: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?119820 I'll drop you a line sometime this weekend, h34dup. Just need to slap together an example for you.
-
h34dup - I have managed to create "traffic" of a sort using Norrin's AI Vehicle Respawn Move to Waypoint script in conjunction with the deleteVehicle command. Basically, just choose a few terminal (spawn/despawn) points then connect them with waypoints as needed. To achieve a regular flow of traffic, you'll need to start most vehicles somewhere along their planned routes, which will require each vehicle to have its own waypoint .sqf, but it's all cut & paste once the first couple are finished. I'll be honest, it does take some tweaking to find the optimal placement of waypoints to keep everything flowing, but when it's working, it looks pretty good. The read-me provided explains the basics fairly well. There is probably a better/easier/more efficient way to do it, but I can provide you with an example mission for this method if you'd like.

NEED HELP just downloaded and new
Harzach replied to Farr3ll's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
What version did you buy? Vanilla Arma 2? Arma 2 Combined Operations? If Combined Ops, how are you launching? What servers are you trying to join? At the very least, you are trying to join servers that are running either a different version of the game than yours, or mods you do not have. -
using the trigger on joystick to fire helicopter weapons
Harzach replied to jd_jay's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
You can bind multiple inputs to a function. Add your joystick trigger to the "Fire" function. -

Sounds like a DayZ question to me. http://dayzmod.com/forum/ If not, disregard.
