So as soon as someone points out that Russia's actions are a reaction to NATO's actions, that someone is told to shut up because "we speak about Russia, you are only allowed to bash Russia here". And why is Russia in need of mental changes and not the USA for example? While Russia has accepted a new doctrine declaring NATO as an enemy thus threatening the people of NATO countries, NATO have bombed and killed people and even raped children (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Lai_Massacre, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahmudiyah_killings) of non NATO states for a long while now. So if Russia wants to protect itself against such prophets of freedom and democracy, it is automatically evil? And I had no prejudices against USA until I have served along their soldiers and have seen what they think of us and how they act towards us. I do understand that you must have same feelings towards russians because of the soviet occupation. What I mean is that while condemning one nation as an iperialistic monster, we are supporting another imperialistic monster at the same time.
-
Interesting that basically NATO has spread its zone of influence directly up to russian borders and now blames Russia for imperialism, whereas it tries to save what little pieces of its own zone of influence has left. NATO not imposing its will onto foreign countries? Please, the whole Middle East, northern Africa and some south american countries think otherwise. During my time at the Bundeswehr I have started to greatly dislike our north american "partners", who behaved themselves like the masters here in Germany when we had joint excersices at Grafenwöhr.
-
So what, NATO has always seen Russia as a threat, thats what that anti missile shield and bases on russian border were meant for after all. Putin has just officially realized that, so I wouldnt say that it is Russia who wants the cold war. Just look at how eager our politicians and industry are for the new military contracts, just a couple of months ago it was said that basically the whole Bundeswehr starting with g36 rifles and ending with the new Eurocopters and Eurofighters are scrap and we need new stuff. In the end its all about the money. The common people like me, you, europeans, americans, russians, ukrainians, etc. are getting fucked by their governments and the 1% of industrialists.

But exactly for that case we have got the older Rainbow Six titles. Of course the looks are dated, but I have recently replayed the first R6 and enjoyed it much more than the newer shiny Vegas titles. I see Door Kickers as a rather fast paced alternative to R6 or SWAT, combining the action and planning phases. And the minimalistic approach at graphics (youd need a full 3d engine to make it R6 like) has allowed the funding and existence of this game in the first place IMO. If you do not mean direct control as first person, but rather top down direct control, well that could be (and should be) done I guess. It bugs me a lot that your police officers are basically shooting everyone whos armed on sight without trying to arrest them when theyre blinded or tazered. I still would like to see a proper new AAA Rainbow Six or SWAT game, but I doubt it will ever happen. Oh and merry christmas everyone.

Why America is NOT the greatest country in the world, any-more.

Im glad its not only my country which media is totally focused on butt shots :D Really it feels like 50% of Bild magazine (the most read magazine in Germany) is just about "Sex sells" articles. -
Oh come on not again. Ive searched it and even when I was typing the "Door Kickers" thread name it hasnt given me a match. I apologize for recreating an existing thread again, but I think someone should check the search function.

Sadly we can also say that our politics are insane as well. We already have reports of rising criminality rate on a daily basis. And we also had our own sharia police, salafists and thankfully prevented terror attacks. However I fear something similar to the recent hostage situation in Sydney could happen here sooner or later too. I do hope our politicians will rethink their immigration policies, but I really doubt they will even if worse things start to happen. Those people flee from a bad life, but instead of adapting to a new one, they start to spread their way of life here even with force. Germany just can not allow itself to be even a little bit intolerant against any foreigners due to our history. EDIT: Another problem is that we see more and more people from Europe being killed in Syria fighting for the islamists. Simple minded people who were led to believe in the holy war of true islam against false islam (wait what?) and other religions. Someone will just vanish one day, and then a couple of weeks or months later we see a report in our newspaper that he or she was killed in Syria or Iraq. We see how missionaries of radical islam are turning our own people against us and we do nothing about it. And we should know how dangerous that is because we did the same successfully during the colonial era and were able to subjugate whole continents by spreading our culture. That being said Im not against islam or any other religion, though I think that religions had its use during the dark times, but science should concern the people now for the greater good. There are however issues with radical followers in every religion, that tend to cause troubles for everyone else.

Now I want to see a giant mechanical octopus roaming the sea and scaring passing cruise ships :D Let them seamen's stories about sea monsters flourish again.

So here I was talking with a couple of mates today what was my most favorite game after 2000. I admit i am a bit drunk so I apologize for any grammatical inconsistencies up front. So back on topic my most favorite game after 2000 was Dishonored. I also know that most of you would be die hard fans of ArmA games, just as me, so to make it even Id suggest lets put those games out of the compitition, because we know, they are not games, but more like our religion. First I am a fan of stealth games with Thief, Splinter Cell, Hitman and MGS being some of my favorites. But Dishonored had also a great Setting of Victroian England, a great unexplored ära in my opinion. with some fantasy aproachesm that where not that important nonetheless. So as I said, there were a lot of games in 2000 that had a geat impact on me, like Rome Total War, or Half Life 2, or WarCraft 3 but Dishonored had the most psychological impact on me. So what your most favorite of the past Doom era.

US-foreign aid agency infiltrated Cuban hip-hop scene to spark youth unrest

So you think Castro would just give up his regime if someone rebels? Or do you think that everyone hates Castro and he would stand totally without supporters in case of an uprising? Just look at what democracy has brought to Lybia. I guess if you ask many lybians now, they would say they were happier when Gadaffi was alive, because you know, the country wasnt ruined by ethnic and religious wars back then. Our countries have come to democracy mostly by ourselves (e.g. France or Britain), so why do we have to intervene everywhere and export our democracy everywhere. You talk about how every country has a right to self determination, so why not let Cuba handle things on their own. If the cuban people want a change, they will get their revolution just like they already did once. And remember that democracy is just another form of rulership, and its pretty young (we shouldnt compare it to the greek democracy). Who knows how the history will turn, maybe in a hundred years we will go back to monarchies or aristocracies or will develop a totally new kind of rulership. You have to understand that many people who are used to their form of government are staunch supporters of that form of government. For example during the monarchies many people would gladly die (ok maybe not really that many when it would come to that, but still) for their king because they believed his powers came from god. Or look at Putins approval ratings. Now some of us believe that democracy is the best way for everyone (then again choosing between two equal parties who never keep their promises is not a democracy), doesnt matter that people are killed in the name of democracy. Just like it didnt matter when people were killed in the name of god during the crusades. -
It would be interesting if it can replace or complement the current CIWSs as a more cost effective and precise solution. I doubt it can completely replace all anti missile defense systems though as it cant shoot over the horizon. It is also interesting how it performs at foggy or rainy days or at bigger distances.

Spreading unrest == supporting democracy? And assuming they would succeed and it would lead to a civil war with US led bombings leading to hundreds or thousands of civilian casualties, would you also support this action because of "supporting democracy"? Btw such actions as interfering into internal affairs of other countries are against international law. Though last I heard this law can only be used to condemn other states like Russia... -
This comment pretty much implies that the germans are being manipulated into being working drones. Besides you have just accused a whole nation of being mindless. I know you didnt say that exact word, but I guess you know what "drone" means since you have used that word. If something makes things easier than something else, that means that that particular thing is better at achieving that specific goal than its competition.

Then why not just call it CV-47 and change the model a bit. Basically what Counter Strike devs have done when they went on the market.
-
Guys, we should keep it in english, as many do not understand german. Nevertheless Id also like to know, how german language is better at giving orders and manipulating the people than english.

Id like to add Blitzkrieg 1 to my List of favorite games. It was different from other strategy games and was more like a wargame. And it still has a large community creating great mods for it. I see the Men of War series as a spiritual successor to Blitzkrieg. And Id also like to point out that the most favorite games seem to be those with great modding capability, which keeps those games alive for years. Best examples would be OFP/ArmA or Battlefield 2. Sadly the publishers see it as a competition and therefore create things like Battlefield 3 and 4 + 20 DLCs each containing 3 maps and a couple of weapons.

Thanks for the info, watched a couple of videos and it looks very interesting. Ill give it a try.

Looks very promising. Reminds me on DCS World a bit, with an even bigger scale and with Infantry playing an important role. Id also like to know how the AI will handle it. And what it will cost once it comes out.

The Victorian era seems a logical and an interesting choice indeed. Hope there will be some Sherlock Holmes inspired missions. And the introduction of the grappling hook (if you have played Tenchu on PS1 youll know what I mean) makes me want a Japanese setting even more, be it Sengoku or Meiji Restoration. In fact the latter one would even work with AC mechanics as there were cities in Japan by that time and not just villages and castles. But alas as long as I dont upgrade my PC ill pass on it just as with Unity, maybe wait till both are in a Humble Bundle (will never happen, I know). The totally dumbed down gameplay was what killed Silent Hunter 5 for me. Walking around the submarine was nice... for about 2 minutes, but that was all SH5 had to offer. Regarding the marketing policies of the current games: we see that basically every company has embraced some sort of free-to-play ( = pay-to-win mostly, but I know people who invest money there) or DLC strategy. Why? Of course they want to make profit, but we also have to understand that the technologies are developing and the requirements are rising and so are the production costs rising. Since the price for the game hasnt changed (50-60€) over the years the developers and publishers are getting their money the other way. Ubisoft just seems to have overdone it with Unity.

As for the lack of gunship support, well those are interior paramilitary forces and most likely dont have gunships at all. Imagine Ferguson police using Apaches. Why they didnt use the BTR guns I do not understand too, lack of ammunition? And I wouldnt laugh about that dude falling while he was sprinting in cover and looking somewhere else. They are risking their lives and some men we have seen in that video have propably died that day, while we are sitting in our warm homes and laughing about them not having some heroic poses and serious faces while saving the world from the terrorist threat (patriotic march playing and national flag waving in background).

Unluckily the majority represents an idle mass who are happy with the "no changes" politic of Merkel as long as there is enough Beer and the TV is working, though a huge part of that majority isnt even voting at all I guess.
