Will we see more civilian content?
kilroy the nerd replied to kilroy the nerd's topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
That's the one I was referring to alright! Really wish I knew why. Or why the mirrors are so thin on that car! Yeah, it'd make no sense if we only had a few men in polos and shorts, and 2 offroad vehicles with various paint jobs though. I just hoped we'd see it sooner. All we've seen outside of that is the car you have a picture of, the cop car there, and some girl in a bikini running through the water and swimming with some NATO divers. -
I got a few more job ideas, some which would require certain things. Aegean Armed Forces: Undoubtably using the independant Green Army, got greek since flag is different, I'm guessing the islands split off from mainland politically and become one giant united nation of islands. You play a soldier in a group similar to the National Guard going on patrol or doing odd jobs on base for cash. To join you must go through a recruiter who will ask question similar to police comprehension test, as well as go through training similar to real life fitness tests for military. To make things interesting, when you go on patrol you may run in to terrorists, or just civilians in trouble similar to how National Guard help after floods. Factory assembly worker: Simple, you work in the place, make some dough putting together parts. Maybe you can make a minigame out of it or something. Stratis Repair Service: Take the repair truck to those poor souls who's car broke down because the check engine light is useless. :p Coast Guard: Recover people lost at sea, either with helicopter or boat. You would probably sign up under Aegean Armed Forces or Stratis Police. I was wondering about an EMT/Paramedic job, but not sure how you would do it.

Well, I believe Iraq had differently named versions of imported scuds like the Al-Hussein so there's no problem with calling the KAMAZ a Zamak, or a KA-60 a PO-30 Orca. Heck, in Arma 2 OA you saw the same helicopter designated as AH-1 and AH-64 depending on BAF or US.

White textures?! e.g gun, rocks, soldiers, buildings
kilroy the nerd replied to jshdaley's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
I only saw it on part of a vest, and only one vest at that. Though, occasionally shadows will get weird and make wheels appear black at some angles and normal otherwise, or similar. -
Why does it go 3rd person when you reload? But yeah, like Red said, kind of inconsistent with how quiet the other sounds are by comparison. The guns look pretty nice though.

Yeah, some way to brace things would be good. That clipping out in MP doesn't sound too good though. -
Placing wrecks and objects on the sea or ocean floor.
kilroy the nerd replied to raven_silverwolf's topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
I don't know how to exactly put it at seafloor, but I guess you can spawn yourself at sea level and use the ` key to tell distance to seafloor, then use that in the elevation box for units. -
Thank you for the response. Mod is looking good, aside from the occasional what am I doing, or just bugs. I fondly recall purchasing a boat and being killed in the process, then being unable to pickup my food and precious moneys. Appears to be going very well, seemed very ambititous compared to past life missions, in my opinion.

Could you add a tutorial in briefing, listing all the controls for everything? I looked through the first page but I'm still largely lost.

Arma 3: Confirmed features | info & discussion
kilroy the nerd replied to Maio's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Yes please. Also, looked back through field manual and it seems incindiery ammo is missing from arty list now. Walked back? -
Yep, that's right I think. Of course, it helps that because English is a Germanic language, in spite of Latin borrowings, some words are similar, making it easier to guess the meanings. Then you have words like those, which leave you clueless.

German Armed Forces Mod
kilroy the nerd replied to GalComT's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Really? Didn't know, that's pretty awesome. On an irrelevant note: German hydrogen submarines ftw -
Looks awesome. Also, if you're interested in a Stratis Repair Service, I believe GLT Legislator added a repair truck to his mod, as seen in this post from his mod's WIP thread:

Did you find the old police car shown in the lighting showcase a while back? BTW, how did you get dogs? I don't see them under ambient life, in beta. How did you get chickens, for that matter.

German Armed Forces Mod
kilroy the nerd replied to GalComT's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Only if we get WWI era U-boats that are, for all effective purposes, armed with only 88mm guns. Either way, looking good. Still curious how we can get things to stay still without having to use scripts in our missions on those landing craft though. -
It's a bilingual bonus! Though, sometimes I was a little bit lost. Didn't know Arte was medic, or Funker was radio[man].

kilroy the nerd replied to Maio's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Ok, so based on beta, we have clown car Strider horns confirmed, and apparently when it says dump truck it means an open truck. Also, the Zamak is just a KAMAZ. -
Private Military Contractors [W.I.P]
kilroy the nerd replied to Pomi Git's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Looks too short to be an M16A4, I'd go with M416 as closest. -
If World War II, they could always try the Winter War. Or Japan invading China and Manchuria. Or the Battle of Khalkin Gol (Japan vs. Russia!). There's no shortage of major battles that were forgotten. The only 2 games I know of doing the Winter War are mods for BF2 (Forgotten Hope) and Red Orchestra (Karelia Front).

ARMA 3 Addon Request Thread
kilroy the nerd replied to max power's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Korean War mod, with stuff all the way from when North Korea went in full force instead of the normal rice paddie raids in 1950, to the UN offensive and back to Panmunjom. -
Thanks Dwarden. It's just we have notable games like Vietcong: Purple Haze and Battlefield Vietnam, and most of the Korean War era stuff has went under. A shame, I would have a lot of fun frantically defending the Pusan Perimeter against T-34s with M9 bazookas and 57mm AT guns.

If it had a rearmed thing like TOH did I bet it could be interesting. Imagine: napalming Mons Olympus with a Vietnam mod followed by an assault on the Iranian position there by the Long Range Desert Group, accidently destroying Voyager!

I dunno, looks cool. I'm curious to see how it turns out. Bohemia Space Program go!

I feel a great gap would be filled if Arma 4 was about the Korean War. Unless someone can name a Korean War game. Then again, probably because no one's interested, even if it was the first war to see the mass use of jets and helicopters.
