What makes ArmA more realistic and where does it come from?
C.tremblay replied to nrs's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
it is a damn sexy feeling. I especially like shooting out engine blocks from 1000m + the only annoying part is that little problem that a guy with a AK47 can swing around at 1500m and 1 shot you with iron sights... -
New Computer random crashes
C.tremblay replied to C.tremblay's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
ok so I turned all settings up to max but turned OFF anti aliasing and the game runs great not a crash since. does that tell anyone anything? i would like to solve the problem so I can turn it up again (the graphics are not majorly affected by it being off, but i spent this much on a comp so they could be maxed haha). -
what do you guys think about my post in the other thread about being able to put wounded soldiers into vehicles and medic them inside it. we had a LAV and I went down and for some reason my buddy put me in it while he cleared a bunch of takis. then he had to pull me out and medic me on the ground. In real life they would have medic'd me inside the vehicle. to protect him and me from small arms fire. while someone else provides over watch for rpgs ect...

Arma 3: Community wishes & ideas- NO DISCUSSION
C.tremblay replied to Maio's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
So i am currently on a server and of course im shot up... so my buddy loads me into the LAV... and lets me bleed in my seat while he clears up takis. and it made me realize. that a nice touch to arma 3 would be the ability to load a wounded soldier in a vehicle and medic him inside where its safer. cause he just had to pull me out to do the medic work. now i will go back to terrorizing zargabad. peace all! -

so i completely reinstalled windows, did drivers for everything myself (shop i bought it from did it first time) seems to get slightly better FPS and sounds better, cause i removed the soundcard, and just running the G35 headset. and i removed the thunderbolt. but sure enough it crashed again... my buddy showed me the event logs in windows and i got this error Faulting application name: ArmA2OA.exe, version: 1.59.79.384, time stamp: 0x4d8cde6f Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x51d45a50 Faulting process id: 0x6ac4 Faulting application start time: 0x01cc980b6c14ca45 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\ArmA2OA.exe Faulting module path: unknown Report Id: 432248f0-0401-11e1-9918-742f681ee2d1 event ID:1000 task category (100) rtp file: this time was modded but i can assure you it crashes without mods to i tested... -
New Computer random crashes
C.tremblay replied to C.tremblay's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I tried that first and about 4 more times oddly enough. When I do arma 2 first it always has to re download 1 file every time, and then when I do operation arrowhead after /for combined operations on steam\. it always downloads 2 files...and no I don't have any of the ASUS programs installed. And I'm back at work now for 4 days. So when I get back home I will dig up those log files. -
So I purchased a new comp to play and well its awesome, full settings and runs 45-60fps very happy, other then it seems to always random crash with the notice "arma 2 has stopped working" it some times takes 5 minutes from playing on a server to a hour. But it always does. you will be playing then the screen will freeze then a second later the sound will cut out, then the screen blacks out for a second and the sound comes back for a split second only to stop when you finally reach the desktop to see the notice. I have updated all the drivers, for video and sound card, ran the directx updater in the steam files. i have turned off my three mods, CBA,JSRS,WarFX. still crashes. my computer specs are Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition 990X ASUS Rampage III Black Edition Motherboard Corsair 12GB DDR3 3x4 AMD Radeon HD 6970 Corsair Force 3 Series 120GB SSD Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-FI Titanium FATAL1TY any help would be appreciated

I approve!!! not that it matters :p

all the covers posted look like they are portraying a one man epic battle to save the world... the arma (official) one with night vision reminded me of splinter cell specifically. i think they should portray what makes arma different and not what every other FPS cover has (a lone solider dressed in the coolest gear setup with some sort of explosion or light streaks in the background.) Tonci87 hit it on the nail. arma is about the big picture and they should have a shot looking down to portray the wide open world you have to play in with. maybe a small team overlooking and emeny position? something similar to this shot http://www.youtube.com/user/richiespeedisback#p/u/47/zs3ebD0w2ko at 1:26ish

i have run Arma successfully for 2 years now on my Macbook Pro 17" once you get the boot camp figured you should be happy.

its a custom built one and Canadian currency I had to buy everything. tower, monitor, keyboard, mouse. plus shipping Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition 990X ASUS Rampage III Black Edition Motherboard Corsair 12GB DDR3 3x4 AMD Radeon HD 6970 Corsair Obsidian Series 800D Full Tower Case Corsair Power Supply ASUS 27IN Widescreen LCD Monitor Microsoft Windows 7 Professional Edition (usually pirate it, but even with my unlocker I have run into problems so I decided I would just purchase it) Corsair Force 3 Series 120GB SSD (turns out its back ordered so i might be getting it swapped with a OCZ Vertex 3 120GB SDD or Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 120GB SSD LG CD/DVD Logitech G19 Gaming Keyboard Logitech G500 Laser Mouse Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-FI Titanium FATAL1TY Intel PRO/1000 Ethernet Adapter with a warranty, and they build it and install all the updates and important stuff that my Mac does automatically without me having to set up or tell it to :P alot of the parts have features i wont use but i figured i would get them now in case i find out i want to use them later like the crossfire for example. and in 3 months there will be some new thing and they will be obsolete haha...

I actually have played it on my Macbook Pro (top of the line model with all the bells and whistles custom built) for about a year now. and I finally just got sick of having to play on lowest settings to get above 25FPS. SO I just ordered a second gaming computer at ~$4100 not including taxes and shipping. I cant get the same enjoyment playing battlefield, or counterstrike anymore (battlefield runs over 30fps, and counter stike over 70fps) ... I found If you have the personality to play Arma it is the only game you are able to play cause everything else has lost its edge. And thats why Arma is not so popular in my opinion. I have a buddy who is a huge gaming nerd, the dude has a water-cooled $9000 tower with shit i didnt even know was out yet... I tried to get him to play arma, and his response was "I want to play games, if i wanted real life i would join the army". and that's the problem Simulators appeal to a small market base of people who have the mentality to play it. Part of me is really sad bohemia is making arma 3 in the future, I have a fear it will be more game like and less like a simulator in my mind just due to im playing with all protypes and concept stuff. Im going to purchase it and give it my best go and im sure i will warm up to it. but I honestly wish arma 3 was an updated arma 2 with better graphics, more features, more vehicles and weapons, less bugs, and bigger maps. but that's a completely different topic... and im way off track... i just wanted to second that I to believe in Arma II enough to purchase an insane computer just to play that $30 game.

wierd cause we shoot at them trying it and they wouldn't go out...
