Official mods not allowing players to join server
drewzy replied to drewzy's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
I see those symbols now, I'll have to try not using them and see what happens. Thank you for helping me. By assets what does that mean? Just inanimate objects? Can I still place Syndikat soldiers or will that also cause the issue? -
Official mods not allowing players to join server

I have no issues hosting a server. I can host my own custom made Zeus missions that work correctly, so long as I do not place any buildings/props beforehand in the mission via the Eden editor. I would consider myself a beginner at Eden, so I'm hoping I am just missing something. So the problem I am having is that when I place either buildings or props in my custom Eden created missions, players are unable to connect. It tells them that they do not have the required mods/addons. However, while creating the missions I have no mods loaded and the mod list in the editor states that I am using only official Bohemia mods. I also made sure the players connecting did not have any of their mods loaded. Any idea how to fix this issue? At the moment I just don't place any props in order to get around it, but I would like to place things so that I can create a somewhat pre-made mission where I only rarely need to use Zeus so that I can enjoy the mission with my friends. Here is what I've learned from testing so far... Players can connect when... "A3_Characters_F", "A3_Modules_F_Curator_Curator", "A3_Supplies_F_Heli_CargoNets", "A3_Supplies_F_Exp_Ammoboxes", "A3_Modules_F_Multiplayer" Players cannot connect when... "A3_Characters_F", "A3_Modules_F_Curator_Curator", "A3_Supplies_F_Heli_CargoNets", "A3_Supplies_F_Exp_Ammoboxes", "A3_Modules_F_Multiplayer", "A3_Structures_F_Mil_BagBunker", "A3_Structures_F_Mil_Shelters", "A3_Structures_F_Mil_Cargo", "A3_Structures_F_Exp_Signs_Traffic" If this is a common fix, I apologize, but I have been unable to find anything on the internet that addresses this problem. -

I see what you're saying, but I don't think its Windows XP. The video card is made to run on Windows XP/Vista/7. If Nvidia knew WinXP couldn't address 2GB of vram then why would they release it as being compatible with XP? Especially, when the missing vram would cause a total system lockup and distorted graphics. AFAIK the PCI bus is what determines what you are referring to, not the OS. Its a EVGA superclocked video card, I've heard that factory overclocks are hard on the memory and since the violent response I get from it doesn't seem like an addressing problem I think one of the memory modules is defective (would explain why Arma2 is not detecting a full 2GB). Not to mention when I bought the card from Fry's Electronics the slightly bent up and rewrapped box it came in was locked with a sensor because it was a returned item. I suspect it was damaged from the moment I bought it. --EDIT-- Damn, so I got it exchanged at Fry's and with the new one I still have the same problem. I guess it is Windows XP. I still don't understand it. Why does it work in other games where the GPU load is much higher? I thought maybe my CPU was maxing out or something, so I disabled a core in the Arma2 process thinking if it froze at least the computer shouldn't lock up. It still did and the free core went from an idle 2% to 100% for a split second along with the others which were at around 80% (they were running arma2). So confused. I turned the Memory setting down to low in arma 2 and it still froze with the card only pulling 520mb. The GTS 250 pulled more than that and worked. So another odd thing. -

I put in my old GTS 250 and now the game works again. There seems to be an issue with the GTX 660 and Arma 2. Only thing I can figure. -

So while I'm playing the game my whole system locks up, not just the program, for about 4-6 seconds and then unfreezes into a graphical nightmare. Weird colors, artifacts, 2D texture templates of a unit's head will appear on the screen, etc. If I Alt-Tab to desktop and then back into the game everything is fine again until the next freeze. The freezes tend to happen in a pattern with the game. Its usually when there's a lot of "stuff" going on, but it can seem random at times. In the Manhattan campaign mission it seems to do it a lot when you talk to the gate guard at the start. During these issues my CPU temperatures are at 38-50c and my GPU temperature is around 50-55c. I just ordered a brand new Corsair builder series CX 600 watt power supply in an effort to fix this problem. I thought it was happening because my 550watt Ultra PSU was getting old and making funny noises when under load. My system is as follows: Windows XP home 32-bit Q6700 Core2Quad @ 2.66ghz 4GB Corsair XMS2 ram Nvidia GTX 660 2GB (Driver 314.22) Corsair builder series CX 600w PSU This all started happening since I began playing Arma 2 on the GTX 660. In the past I had a GTS 250 which worked fine with Arma 2. My friend also still has a GTS 250 on the 314.22 drivers and has no problems in Arma 2. I would like to add that I play other games such as Skyrim, Shogun 2 Total war, Assassin's creed brotherhood, Farcry 3, League of Legends and etc. without any issues. I would really like some help with this... it seems like the GTX 660 and Arma 2 do not like each other. It's hard for me to tell whether its a software or a hardware problem, but I really hope its the latter. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm stuck, I've tried everything I know. Also let me know if you need any more information. SOLVED: The Nvidia 320.18 WHQL drivers fixed this problem. -
I used to have 3GB of RAM in my PC, but recently I gave 1GB of my RAM to my sister who badly needed some RAM in her computer. I was real carefree about it because I thought Windows XP(Home) never used over 2gigs and because Arma2 "Recommends" 2GB as opposed to the "Required" amount of 1GB. Me interpreting "Recommended" as "This will work well with this..." So anyway, I'm playing the 'Dogs of War' mission in the 'Harvest Red' campaign and the game crashed to desktop randomly and gave me a small error window saying(..and I know I should have recorded exactly what it said, my bad) something along the lines of 'Ran out of Memory' + some numbers. First thing I did was hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and sure enough, under the preformance tab it read 2.02 GB usage under the PF usage. So, does this mean I should buy more RAM or was this one of them RAM leaks people have been talking about on here? I went back and played 5min of the mission, where I left off, to see if it would do it again. It starts around 1.85 GB, but I can see that it was slowly increasing gradually as I played for the 5 minutes. I would have tested longer, but I hate troubleshooting and I figured the answer would be pretty simple, in that I needed to go buy more RAM. Does Arma2 seriously take more than 2GB of RAM at times? Thanks in advance, sorry for writing a book.
