[?] Ubuntu 10.04 & ArmA2:OA
Riffler replied to Startrekern's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
=> install the whole game (vanilla&OA) on windows => patch the game to what ever (current 1.59) => make a copie from the whole game (backup is good everytime) => create a txt file into the arma folder with "patched 1.59 or whatever" for overview only => structure into the main dir must be: (rest you can delete - not needed on linux) - AddOns - Common - Dta - Expansion *! - Keys - Missions - MPmissions *! = here is very important to lower case the name manually before using the install script! - the script from BIS works bad with this folder and create a new one! additional you can remove into the expansion dir the whole dir "BattlEye" and the file "ijl15.dll" both are not needed on linux and the arma-serverinstaller create a new one and load the right files for linux. thats all prework to make the gamefiles ready for linux. Attantion: if your linux a 64bit version then install the ia32-libs and gcc compiler first! load up this shit install the arma-linuxserverfiles and have fun :) (if you plan to load up the ~ 15gb then zip the files and split it to ~ 4gb peaces, this prevents many trouble with possible con-lost or checksum) greeting MrNiceGuy -

ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues
Riffler replied to R3fl3x's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Hello R20+ my suggestion: Everything else: Very High <= not good :D try this: HDR = default shadow details = high (normaly=CPU | high/very high = GPU) texture details = default landscape details = very low (eats a lot of power) post effects = disable (a matter of taste - i hate this effect) looks not worse then befor and the game should run smoother i think nvidia settings i can not comment, im a ati slave -

It is possible to create a actionmenu+submenu where change only the content by press a button without closing frame after? Concept: One big frame, left-position all options and right-position the body for content - is shown in which the entire contents. (looks like a website - menu <=> content structure)

Didi server performance (pagefile)
Riffler replied to Hud Dorph's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - Servers & Administration
Dedi Server: Core I7 875K@4.1GHz 8gb ram win7 64 Basicly abnormal is a non ServerOS for a Server Windows use the swapfile everytime (kernelstuff ect) and disable swap is not a good idea =>never! My suggestion (check): =>maybe sandy bridge bug in chipset (S-ATA issue) =>turbo boost settings (BIOS) =>HT settings (BIOS) =>firmware from SSD / maybe missing patch from Microsoft =>strange OC =>processor sheduling =>secu-sw (fucking suite running?) alternative you can check the r/w with DiskMon from ms-technet or... ...change to linux-dedi for maximum fun :D (SCNR) -

Riffler replied to suma's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING

Tested with Singlematch E06 - (Der Bär erhebt sich) and Benny Warfare 2.069 *greetings to the Normandie-Baby* All tests without mods and resolution 1680x1050 Bench E08 (malloc3) = ~48fps Bench E08 (malloc4) = ~48fps sys: e8400 3GHz @3600 4GB Ram Asus P5Q 4870 1G (driver 11.6) edit: i did not vote - malloc3+4 ok for me -

Please help convince me to buy ARMA 2. How good is it graphically?
Riffler replied to seizetheday4eva's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
short and crisp => ArmA2 rocks! Initially maybe little bit difficult to handle the AI commands but with few practice you will have a lot of fun. Also a great community you will have too gogo...buy this shit else you must play pussy-wow :811:
