  1. you need to give it an in game image line of code like the square with a question mark most objects have in editor sorry cant show you as i have no hard drive left with an example on. glade you got it up and running mate now comes the hard part the of months of work to get it how you want it.

Hi all after my hard drive melted the other day I have managed to get back a .pbo of an early version of waziristan I can get sangin off armaholic is there a way to get the .pew and source back out of it and be usable in visitor so I can at least start back to work on rebuilding what I have lost. Can any one pm how I can do this please don't post in the thread ways to do it as I know there is tools for doing this but don't want the world to know how to do it as it will be in the terrain makers interests to keep it under our hats so we don't get our islands tore apart and messed about without our permissions so any help would be a good start thank's all and pm me if you have knowledge on the tools and ways of rebuilding an island from a .pbo

    hi all i have been working on a terrain for a while now using l3dt the out side terrain is higher than the edges of my sat image in visitor i had to squash the terrain down and after that the outside terrain is not right, could i get some guidance on how to cut a few pixels off the height map edge to make the outside terrain line up again please cheers smoke or any information on cut out option in vis.

    Cheers for the info on this , last night my hard drive lead melted the pcb on my hard drive so now I have lost all source data for the 7 terrains I had and the 200-300 hundred models I had for the terrains so I am in shit street at the moment as I had no backup of the hard drive and have lost the last 2 years worth of work total gutter for me as if I cant recover the data I don't think I will be modding or building terrains again. my apologise to all for not being able to give you what I have shown you on my blogg and youtube vids of the models and terrains I had sorry for being a nob and not backing up my source folders. I have contacted a data recovery firm datatrack and have been quoted £99.00 to fix pcb it might as well be a £1000 as I am on sick benefit and I can't even raise that amount for months so if any 1 feels like donating to the cause please feel free to pm me

    Has any 1 got a working copy of export.xyz as when I try to get the thing working the dos box pops up and says that I only have 3.52 and it needs 3.89 I have got the latest from devheaven and it does the same error leaving me with no .xyz for l3dt cheers smoke

Hi mate yes you need to binerize both the model and the terrain and use both pbo's when starting arma easiest way or what i do in my folder for island @waziristan\addons\wazir.pbo+sm_ied.pbo+afghan_objects.pbo if you see were I am going if you need to talk on ts jump on my ts channell 7XBRF-gu ip is 46.32.228.189 and it would be easier to talk about it and get it sorted.

Hi mate I have not done my terrains and addon set up like yours in my project folder I have 7 terrains and all the configs from the addons I have used like mbg buildings, and all the models I have made they sit just in the p drive in their own folders as separate addons. Then I load them in vis3 like they are in my p drive p:\sm_ied\ied.p3d I can only advise you on the way I have done mine i use a project folder for terrains but I don't for addons it works for me some guys use the project folder and some don't. p:\smoke\wazirstan \hellskitchen \stanta p:\sm\ied
  11. 2.5.1 are the latest tools, If your model is in your my project folder how have you shown it to visitor when adding model to the vis list as normally all models bis or custom sit in the p drive and are pathed to that so the game can find them as p drive is like a copy of the game and it is where vis looks for addons so not sure if going the way your going is ok or not as i have not tried the way you are doing it it must have to look for terrain and model from the main my project folder you have if all fails pm me a link of your source files for terrain and model and I don't mind having a look to get to the bottom of this

    well I can't say any more as I am out of ideas for the problem your having, its a strange 1 but I guess I have had plenty of weird and wonder full problems along the way as well some explainable some not can any more experienced modders step in and help out please as I am at the limit of my knowledge on this one. when set up on my p:\ drive wall\wall.p3d it goes though bin.pbo no problems and into game with no errors he's tried the reinstall of bi tools not to sure what's left to try

    i dont always use the clear temp bin just if i have made some drastic changes after its done the 1st time i get errors so i untick it and then it goes thought fine so run it once then untick it and run again and it should be good to go.
  15. Its strange the pair of you get the model 50 error not sure what's going on with you as I have your model in game fine no errors. When I create a model I use for example p:\wall\wall.p3d 1 folder inside is the model makes for less mistakes when repathing textures or configs for me anyway are you sure the model is fit for the engine as things will show in visitor but when it comes to in game may not work and how complicated is the model points faces count is it over 20,000 are all textures pathed right and folders pathed right for the config. make a new folder for the warehouse path all textures to that model in the new folder in p drive and do the same for config. I have all my addons seperate from my terrains, terrain set up is different for me I use a main smoke folder then all my terrains are in that folder all my addons are seperate in p drive sm_rocks\ sm_plants \sm_afghan objects if you get me.

    copy that bush its been like this since I done the erosion at the start of the terrain so I have had it all along but thought I could get round it later. Its the first time I have seen it turn out like this, as I have used the erosion tool quiet a few times now when playing with sizes of terrains and I tend to use terrain png for heights with this one I used l3dt .xyz for height import. The other side of the terrain is like a massive wall i suppose its a case of dropping and lifting the terrain 20 km worth lol as I have tried the smooth roads but that drops below ground too far. Is there no way of exporting the height map back in to l3dt and then doctoring the edges on it again or will it do the same again on import back to vis where I have to erode it.

    Hi bush forgot to say i used the xyz not a terrain png for height from ltd3 http://i49.tinypic.com/2wfn3mu.jpg (201 kB) There is one side it sits lower, on the other side of terrain its miles to high.
  19. funny that bush the latest terrain im building was done on l3dt so I have had to make the sat_lco, it makes good reading shame I have never seen that guide before.
  20. cheers from me as well as I have been thinking about how I can do this for a while now spent all day moving roads to sat_lco looks sweet now, also I now have more control over the textures than I have had before.

    Hi mate looks like it is still trying to find it in folder in folder here's the line error in above log <model = "p:\wall\wall\wall.p3d"> 2 folders when you use bin.pbo have you ticked clear temp folder as it is still looking for the model in wall\wall\wall.p3d should be wall\wall.p3d

    looks like you have double sided faces and all you have to do is select vertices\ points on the left side front hit f6 and it will put a face on the hole ,you have do the same for top and all the missing faces on both sides

    just use 1 folder wall\wall.p3d your using 2 folders Convert model p:\wall\wall\wall.p3d -> its not seeing the model how you set it up works fine the way I set it up with just the 1 folder simple mistake easy fix

    here's what i mean about the below ground http://i47.tinypic.com/317ik1w.jpg (171 kB) see how deep it goes perfect for hills i have a terraced type town and if buildings were not this deep i could not do this
