  1. You are wasting your time. Freedom Fighters is fatally bugged: http://dev-heaven.net/issues/18491 Check out my posts in this thread and feel the frustration, which you now share: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=76687 Do yourself a BIG favor and stay away from that scenario as if your life depended on it, at least until Dwarden has patched it. I wasted days and days on it - all for naught. Have you seen the dreaded red x's in the objective list yet? :j:   :803:
  2. Great. What ISP do you use? Is the new video the one with your mike connected so we can hear your commands and training of your recruit?
  3. Yes, I think so. Upon touchdown while holding "brake" (min collective), I select "Throttle to Idle" (perhaps not necessary), and then "Throttle to Closed." If you find out different, or know of another way to shut the engine off (other than "Engine off (auto)"), please let me know.
  4. However, as I wrote above in this thread, the throttle currently has 3 positions, including a "Throttle to Closed" function.
  5. nightsta1ker, you are the man. Thank you very much for the excellent info! :bounce3:

I agree 100%. It's also a better overall value to buy CO rather than A2 and OA separately.

Good for you, BIS! That will pay off in the end.

    CWR² Demo

In which directory should the new version of that file reside? The hotfix has a version of that file dated July 1 on the same level as the Missions and @CWR2 directories. I just saw that there is another (older) version of the bikey file in the @CWR2/addons folder, put there by the demo patch. How many versions of that file should there be in a correct installation, and where should they be? I've got cwr2.bikey files at these locations, with version dates: directory date ------------------------------------------- ArmA 2 July 1 ArmA 2/@CWR2 June 19 ArmA 2/@CWR2/addons June 30 Is this correct?
  9. I agree on all counts. This beta is a huge improvement all around, especially on landing. Do "ground contact points" refer to points on the skids that touch the ground? The helo seems to like the ground much better, not always bouncing off and rolling over. I have noticed the helo slowly sliding down a very gradual slope after I get out at the end. I think that friction between skids and ground should be increased a little. On another note, shouldn't BIS introduce a new thread for each new beta, as it is for A2/OA?
  10. nightsta1ker, As a real pilot, you will know: Is "+/- thrust" (Q/Z keys) the same as manually applying throttle in a real helo? I asked this before: http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=1972682&postcount=7

Note that most posts for Reinforcements are under the "Official Missions" forum - use search forums http://forums.bistudio.com/search.php to look for PMC and BAF. Also check out the Troubleshooting forum. I agree with BIS that A2 OA or CO must be purchased for ToH preview to work. ionica, do yourself a favor and buy A2 CO NOW! It's only 24.99 euros on Sprocket: http://www.sprocketidea.com/joomla/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=sprocket.tpl&product_id=33&category_id=2&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=57 You won't regret it. PMC and BAF are just (AWESOME) addons to the real deal. Plus, you'll be very busy with CO until the real ToH comes out.

    CWR² Demo

I just installed CWR2 1.0.5180 for the first time, plus patch .5282, plus patch .5282 missions, plus hotfix. I started the campaign, and everything looks and works fantastic. Congratulations to CWR2 team!!!! Just to make sure that I didn't screw up my installation, can someone confirm if there should be two cwr2.bikey files, one in ArmA 2 folder, and one in ArmA 2/@CWR2 folder? Thanks...
  13. Hmm. Maybe it's the wind? Or a bug? I don't know.
  14. Do you mean that you can go right to Throttle to idle without using batteries and starter? Or do you mean using Engine On (auto/debug)?
  15. They worked fine for me. -------------------------- On a real helo, how does one really do "throttle to idle"? Is it a switch, or does one rotate a handle or apply pressure to a lever on the left stick? I am quite unsure as to the difference between "thrust" (Q/Z) and throttle. I know that the command for "analog" throttle is misnamed - should be collective. So, what does the real throttle do versus the "thrust" commands? Are they the same in real life? Just trying to learn about helos and ToH. Until ToH preview, I didn't know JACK about helos (other than A2 CO helos), as I am sure my posts make abundantly clear.
  16. Yes, MaxP, I just found that out and edited the above post. Thanks anyway. All is good now. By the time the real ToH comes out, I sure won't need a manual, that's for sure.
  17. Thank you. I'll give that a shot. ------------------------------ OK, I got it. I was unaware of additional commands available on the stick. There's throttle to idle, throttle to max, and throttle off. Good to know. Mouse over buttons and stick: 1) batteries on 2) starter on 3) after a few seconds, throttle to idle option (on stick below starter) 4) starter off after ignition 5) batteries off (still have to test this) 6) wait until RPM stabilizes at around 70%. 7) throttle to max on stick Optional: 8) Autotrim "on" - although it already is (BIS should fix this!!) 9) Autotrim off - now autotrim is really off 10) Thrust (Q) to max - liftoff 11) Left trim (X) to stabilize rightward rotation 12) Manual trim set 13) gain some altitude 14) Go, baby, go (W). Gain speed as quickly as possible. Optional with future dream release: ;) 15) locate enemy 16) power on dual M134 miniguns 17) select armor piercing or incendiary ammo 18) initiate ammo feed system 19) arm weapons 20) destroy: :681: (just kidding - been playing too much A2/CO - my brain is warped)
  18. I saw this artifact a few times while playing the Dear Gunter SP user mission. Its appearance is quite sporadic and unpredictable, even after over an hour of gameplay. It's there, but rare.
  19. Thank you very much for the helpful info. I'd asked about manual trim before, and never got an answer. Knowing how to use manual trim makes flying and landing with auto trim off much easier.
  20. I don't like this new feature. At least on Veteran and Expert difficulties, auto trim should be off at start. As it is now, it is on, but the options menu says "auto trim on," implying that is off. Not intuitive. So what I wrote before about me flying the whole route and landing with auto trim off is untrue. I think this issue should be reverted to the way it was in the first beta. Just my two cents... The current state of the autotrim (on/off), and if manual trim is set or not, should always be displayed accurately in the options menu (mouse wheel), and also somewhere on the instrument panel (like a little green light if auto trim is on, and a similar light for manual trim set - this would be a new feature). For lower difficulty settings, trim state indicators should also be present in the hud, if they aren't already (I don't know if they are - I only play on Veteran). Having said that, instrument panel lights may not be "realistic", as perhaps autotrim/manual trim set are not present in real helos, just in ToH. I think the flight model in the new beta is nearly perfect - and lots of fun. ---------------------------------------- Having learned how to use manual trim set (thanks to sbsmac), and REALLY turning off auto trim (thanks to SJ_MarcL), I completed the Veteran flight with auto trim off. Nice. ---------------------------------------------- Awesome new discovery - certain button on left stick (starter), and on the panel (e.g. light, collision lights, batteries on/off, etc.) are workable, meaning that you can mouse over them and see their functionality. FANTASTIC! I hope nearly all the buttons become workable, or at least their function is displayed, so that we can really learn about the heli controls. However, the starter switch does not appear to work - if you select it, the starter clicks like it's working, but the engine doesn't start and the rotors do not move. Maybe I have to switch batteries on first?
  21. Yes, and unless problems are encountered related to allocation, the use of the allocator is not warranted, as I wrote. That is not giving people the wrong idea. Possibly you are confused. Please read my last post again carefully. "integrated" = default.
  22. Why are using an allocator for this build? Suma said malloc=3 has been integrated, so I don't think using an allocator is warranted any longer, AFAIK.

  24. Thank you, dwringer, for bringing me up to speed on that. Doesn't sound optimal for me. I'll stick with my keyboard and mouse for now. I just completed my first run through of the beta 82390 on Veteran difficulty. Totally awesome. I was able to land the first time! Had auto trim off from about 8 seconds after take off until the very end, including landing. Saved game just before landing, but didn't need it, as I got down perfectly. I don't know if this beta changed things to make it a little easier to land (a good thing), or maybe I'm just getting good. Loads of fun. Best of all, as I didn't have to load my saved game, there was NO CRASH ON EXIT this time, making the experience especially enjoyable. I renamed the preview exe to takeonh.exe, and SLI worked perfectly with 275.33 drivers. Great job, BIS!!!!! :bounce3: --------------------- You know, this "reply to thread" page, with the moving icons (banana, bounce), puts about 17-18% load on both of my GPUs, and 6% load on my CPU. What the.........:omg:
  25. WHAT? You can use a Xbox 360 controller with A2 and Toh?????? Sounds awesome, even though I mastered the first beta using the keyboard/mouse. How do I use the 360 controller? There's this: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=75903 I'll keep searching around. Do I connect the controller to my computer using USB or something? I've never even thought about doing that, let alone heard about it. Guess I'm way behind the times.
