Has OFP/ARMA put you off the Army ?
flattermann replied to cartier90's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
well to put it bluntly, the highest priority of a soldier is to stay alive, no one would ever under very rare circumstances would one completely disregard his own personal safety, maybe crazy drugged Taliban would. Not a whole lot of jobs? What about doctors, social workers, nurses, priests, family dads.... No reason to be upset, i was just stating my opinion like you did. -
No clue. Could be a good idea to download it beforehand

Has OFP/ARMA put you off the Army ?
flattermann replied to cartier90's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
the last thing i want is to start an argument, but there are plenty of other jobs where one's not just out for him or herself. If the other 90% of the population hwo you think are selfish would join the military, well in what kind of world would we live in? -
Has OFP/ARMA put you off the Army ?
flattermann replied to cartier90's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Never been enlisted, now i'm slightly too old, wouldn't take me anyway. And no, i still wouldn't go. When i used to play OFP i thought it might be cool joining the Army, but then I went to a OFP Lan party, there was a soldier from Austria, he brought his full dress, and I was like wtf... The guy who organized the Lan had bought an old UAZ from the East German Army (NVA), that was actually quite cool ^^ nutcases :D So i was kind of surprised when i read that OFP/ArmA put you off the idea of enlisting. It's a very good thing, e.g. the America's Army game is so unrealistic yet it is actually designed to persuade people to enlist. (I have respect for every professional soldier, don't get me wrong) -
Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.

i never tried the demo, are there any advanced video options? try setting video memory to "default" and postprocessing to "low". Turning down AA a bit can help too, 3D resolution >100% is more effective then AA anyway -
Not true, Reinforcements includes most OA content - apart from the SP campaign and missions, that is. So you get all OA units, weapons, vehicles with high res textures. No need to patch ArmA2 either, patching OA to 1.59 will patch ArmA2 to 1.09 automatically.

Well said, the Azimuth is the only reliable way. That "3'o clock, far" is pretty much useless

Confusion regarding the "Reinforcements" DVD rom
flattermann replied to stefos71's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Definitely overpriced. Somehow the release date in Germany seems to be 4 May. Buggers. Some company on Amazon is apparently trying to sell it for 60 €. Maybe translating the subtitles is taking a little longer, there might be some problems rendering the British slang / argot into proper German ;). I could make a small fortune by crossing the border to the Czech Republic, grab a ton of retail copies there and sell them via ebay.de ^^ -

right, i've flashed my 6950 recently and it runs stable (gets a little hotter though): As you can see, the flashing also overclocked to 6970 speeds. I am very happy with this card too, even though some people say nvidia would always be the better choice in ArmA. I don't know, got no problems. -
What if CryEngine was used as Arma 3 future engine?
flattermann replied to jonneymendoza's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
it's the crybabyengine, never stops rollin' -

IDK, the read access times / speed might be a little low. The cheapest and most effective way could be creating a ramdisk for ArmA2. -
you maybe have the Lite version of BAF and PMC included ArmA2:OA.

Make sure you got "Battle Eye Required" set to "Default". If it's set on "No" you might not see a great deal of the servers online -

if you got 40 extra quids you could buy 2 samsungs and Raid0 them, that would nearly double the speed in the end -
replay it with Difficulty set to Expert, the Opfor AI might be a bit snappier then.

the price for P67+K is not that much higher than for H67+NonK, the OC potential is greater than the price difference. There's no real difference between 1333 and 1600 in ArmA, idk about other games though. You could buy 16 GB 1333 and create a Ramdisc for ArmA instead, or just go with 4, should be fine. A good harddisk is far more important than RAM. -

If you buy the 2500K, get a P67 board. You then may overclock, but don't have to of course. Otherwise, get a 2500 (non-K) P67=2500K H67=2500 -

Ain't that game a bitch? :) That's what you're loving about it, innit? Every day you play you learn something new, so many things to discover... And it got the looks not to get you bored and keep you naive enough to enjoy and play and play and play .... Got no clue what's up with your Yoma though. I doubt you would do that, but are you running ArmA2 in the background while updating content via Yoma? You could create a ticket at Dev Heaven (http://dev-heaven.net/projects/yoma-addonsync2009/issues), yet its procedure is pretty complex too.

Right! Yet i suppose BIS is not that poor moneywise, one of the many reasons for us to be able to play the most awesome game on the planet is VBS1 (and 2). Why are they going to release a chopper simulation? Either they've already made one for whomever or are about doing so. I'm not looking at ArmA2 as a side product or so, however I doubt "some indie developer" would have the resources to create the most incredible game ever and even guarantee continuous support. I just hope that BIS will manage to keep their foot in the military's door for many years to come, thus being able to remain "indie" and continue polishing and adding content to ArmA2. What makes me sad is that ArmA2 is such a monster when it comes to hardware requirements that not many people in the Czech Republic and surrounding countries in Central and Western Europe are able to actually play that game. A good part of OFP players were and are Czech, Slovak, Polish, Hungarian, Croatian... The great majority in these countries just don't earn enough to buy computers that cost 1000$ and more just to play one single game... And even if they are, and used to play OFP, they probably have a family now.

Any know how I can fix this problem?
flattermann replied to Mihail's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
looks like some addon issue... -
only when you're the gunner yourself and a buddy is flying your chopper
-
You cannot tab-lock with the cannon (maybe air targets). Disable manual fire and the gunner will use the cannon (via its FLIR) monitor on his own.
