ACE enhances the game greatly, its a must-have add. You will, however, enjoy it even more after you got to know 'vanilla' ArmA. Otherwise you would miss out a bit, and the learning curve is steep enough already. Once you got to know vanilla, adding ACE doesnt mean you have to relearn or adapt to something new. well heck try out for yourself :)

hmm then maybe alread the OA installation (to CO) went wrong. There should be no OA folder in the Expansion folder afaik. Read here how to merge ArmA2 and OA together: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=101214 (install it both directly into ...\ArmA 2\) After you've installed CO you should have both campaigns from ArmA2 and OA available when you run the arma2oa.exe

translations/localizations ar either commissioned individually by the publisher in your country, or are done by a major localization company for all languages of the release. Either way, the translation is copyrighted as well, apparently to the publisher. This way the customers are forced to buy the game from their country's publisher - who is assuming that you need to have it in your mother tongue. This is often necessary due to different release dates in different countries, so you can't just buy it abroad (and resell it again). I dislike this very much too, i think we players - customers should have the freedom of choice when it comes to languages. At least ArmA2 allows us to switch to English.

the netcode could be better, yeah, but basically only AI bots are lagging resp. "warping" around. There are plenty of locked or hidden servers, check the squad section in the forums to find people to play with. you dont have to join a clan in most cases, just introduce yourself, get into TS and receive the password

please start the game, then try to connect to a server, close the game and then post the content of your C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\ArmA 2 REINFORCEMENTS\arma2RFT.RPT (just right click -> edit) - if you run it on win7 (make sure you got "show hidden folders/files" enabled)

obvioulsy the installation went wrong. do you have a folder called REINFORCEMENTS with \BAF and \PMC in it? If yes, that's apparently the problem. Just install RFT directly into the ArmA2 folder, if there is a Reinforcments folder there should but be nothing in it but an uninstall exe. Having an SSD is just awesome, and it will give you a feeling of 'exclusiveness' for at least 12 months to come :D It really pays off, install Windows on it and watch it boot up :) You won't regret it, i'd always prefer an SSD to a high-and GPU now.

At the current state of the crCTI you would need to change the towngroups, and add PMC addons to the portfolio. AFAIK it's not possible via parameters. Changing the towngroups wouldn't be an issue though, original BI units shouldn't be the cause for any trouble server-wise. I'd for my part actually appreciate PMC towngroups or the Chechen Rebels.. Takistani towngroups are in the Takistan and Zargabad versions. Try playing it in twilight, it's really difficult to find cover once you got in the spotlight of the static MG's :D And Takistan at 4 am is just beautiful ^^ There is a way to pre-determine the towns. That's what we call a PvP-match setup (without towngroups and AI disabled, but that's optional anyway). Maybe Muecke or thhamm can tell you how to do it, for IDK :D *Edit* well one thing you can do for now is to make use of the 'Airfac Small' for $8000. Small means transport choppers only - just hook up a tank, let a bunch of AI embark and drop 'em off (yes, you can have a M1A2 parachute from 200m, no problem :))

i dont have any stutterings / LOD problems on Chernarus with my ssd.. sure you got AHCI enabled?

hmmm.... what does dxdiag say? *edit* i had this problem once too but then i uninstalled the catalyst driver that came with the card and d/l the latest.. You have Geforce, so it's different. Could still be a GPU issue. Your game is patched up?

That's a myth and not true. Yes, the write-longevity is lower or shorter than on standard HDDs, but this is not an issue with the pagefile. Your system's performance will actually benefit from the pagefile being on an SSD. Just make sure you got TRIM working (enable AHCI in Bios), disable SuperFetch and _never_ defrag it. if you only have Reinforcements you will not be able to play on servers with ArmA2 content (like on Chernarus, or playing community maps that use ArmA2 content, like vehicles, etc.) ArmA2:OA comes in a lite version with RFT. I had the same problem, the most hazzle-free way is to use the installation tool released by Dwarden. You're not supposed to have a REINFORCEMENTS folder in your Arma2 folder. Well yes there must be one, but the only file in it must be the unistall.exe. Reinforcements has to be installed directly into the Arma2 folder. yeah, i have the same card, 10.10 drivers are apparently not supported. I have disabled ATOC completely and set AA to Low, looks much better now. Atoc=1-7 works for me with AA on very high though, but it's a huge draw on performance then.

Ah okay Inkognito, no the View Distance is set server side in multiplayer, mostly around 2500. For 10000, place yourself in the Editor on Chernarus, fire it up and do a 360° turn

so you got 10000 View Distance at all high/very high??

I'm just happy with ArmA2. I really don't understand anyone who is crying for ArmA3.
