Thanks for the help Oldbear, I did manage to work out some settings to avg 30-40 FPS online, which is just fine with me, but the biggest helper was actually the startup MaxMem parameter. Setting that to use all 16GB (or up to it) changed it dramatically and consistently. I'm still looking to upgrade my CPU again but I think for now I can deal with what I've got. I really wish BI could just optimize the game so the End User didn't have to do things like this manually.

Hey all, been playing Arma 3 for a while now but every single time I get into a multiplayer server (Wasteland only so far) my FPS plummets from what it easily handles on Singleplayer. I've tried many 'fixes' but I figured I'd come on here and just get a basic answer. What can I do to make it so my FPS doesn't drop to 5-8 when I'm online? CPU: AMD FX6300 (6 core at 3.5 GHz) GFX: GTX 770 4GB RAM: 16GB Please don't tell me that my AMD processor is the issue, I don't care if Intel has hyperthreading. A 6 core processor at 3.5 should be able to beat a quad core at 2.9. If it ACTUALLY is the issue, I would prefer a detailed explanation as to why my investment into a 6 core was a complete waste of money over "AMD sucks" Thanks guys!

Hi all, I'm interested in joining or gaming with a squad for ArmA II (OA and BAF also) I've always liked the game but the online aspect is a very difficult aspect to be thrown into. Although I've never played online I mess around with the SP missions and the armory (helicopters/aircraft are an obsession I follow in games) so I'm not a total newbie. ALl the deadzones are fine, trust me I've done everything. There's just some input lag in the controls. Example: Quickly more the x axis left and let go (center) once it gets back to the center the vehicle turns and then stops a little after.

Yeah but the x52 has some MAJOR input lag...that's why I'm asking for profiles that work pretty well. It's also not .4 ms I just guessed. I also meant seconds I guess, it's REALLY BAD lag.

Hey all, I've been flying with the x52 in ArmA 2 for a while and I find it to still be a difficult task after messing around with a bunch of stuff and making my own profiles. Currently I have my stick set to control the mouse and all flight is done by mouse movement. (Regular input is VERY laggy on the X52 and it's really annoying to wait those .4 milliseconds for response to sensitive flight. The mouse setup is very nice but I feel like it still lags quite a bit. My question is: Does anyone have a nice profile setup for the Saitek X52 joystick? I'd prefer a regular X52 profile instead of the PRO version but I can just copy it over to a regular .pr0 file. Yes I have used search and did not find what I was looking for. Perhaps I didn't look hard enough. THanks in advance! -DropoftheGun

Sorry, should've been more specific. THe low performance isn't on the Ex pack only. When I run the vanilla A2 it actually has worse performance than OA (oddly enough) And on lower settings too

try downloading arma 2 first

Hey all, figured I'd ask this here since it applies to steam I've been having some trouble with the steam version of ArmA 2 (actually the ACE mod but hear me out) I used the laser designator in the AH-1Z for the Hellfire missiles and first when I fired they went every which way, then they would finally miss the target. We tracked it down to me being the only steam user on the server (4-5 guys) I know it's a mod and that brings more into the equation but we should all have the same files anyway. So my question is: would the retail version fix this if I bought it?

It isn't on OA though.

I'm having trouble getting anything above 20 FPS with most everything as low as it can go. I've tried a few things but nothing seems to work. System specs Intel Core 2 Duo CPU P8700 @ 2.53GHz 2.53 GHz nVidia GeForce GTX 260M Windows 7 64 bit any suggestions? It's also a laptop (It's a high end gaming one, runs most other games on Very High settings pretty well, around 30FPS hover.
