  1. I had something similar with a save point, everytime i clicked a save point it would automatically send me to the start of the red harvest campaign (even thouh i had selected say a save point during the Manhatten portion). Luckily i had a copy of my save points that was not as up to date as the one the game was using, deleting the save points and then copying the older set of save points over to the ARMA 2 folder fixed it. Sorry its not of any help to you really but i may give you something to go on to try and figure out how to fix your similar issue.
  2. I wouldnt agree with it being nothing like the real game, it uses game assets and renders them exactly the same as if you were playing the game. I am sure there are times i the game when you could come across a similar situation with the game being a sandox. I would say its misleading of real gameplay performance at those settings this thread is about game performance, someone listed settings and then said they had a certain FPS with benchmark 1, i was saying that the benchmark is misleading and although the FPS may look playable that those setting would probably not be playable for the game itself.
  3. I registered but it seems i need o wait for a confirmation email to confirm registration? I have not had an email yet but i still cant log in with my details but the system sees to recognise my username and email address as i tried to register again with the same name and was told it was taken plus i was able to send for my password details or reset it using my email address. I guess i just need to wait for the email to confirm registration?
  4. he means physically removing your Memory modules from their slots on the motherboard and then replacing them (reseating them) back into the slots making sure they are inserted and held in place correctly. Make sure before you do this that your PC is powered off and you cut power to your PSU by putting its switch to the off position then removing the plug from the socket. If you have a can of air you may want to give the slots a little blow with air. I am not sure if this will fix the problem but i will give it a try. I have already reseated my memory lately seeing if inserting extra memory would help but it didnt but i will give it one more try (when i added extra memory it included removing the modules already inserted and then putting then back in with the additional modules). Thanks massi from opening that ticket i will vote on it as soon as i figure out how to.
  5. i dont know it was long enough and let the FPS go high enough for my unplayable settings to appear to be a playable 27 FPS. As for using it for tweaking purposes, sure if you reuse the benchmark you can compare and it would work that way but i meant its misleading sometimes due to the pan to the sky, if it did not do this you would ahve a better idea of actual gameplay FPS, how often do people spend looking up at the sky when actually playing ARMA?
  6. Does anyone know if this bug has been reported? I was going to do it but i dont have a clue how to send in a report, all i can see is the information on how you should go about it and a few links but nothing to actually submit the bug. Anyone suffering from it reported this bug using the tracker?

How to i use a UAV Terminal?

thanks yeah i came across that during my search but i have no idea what it means, is it how to set up a UAV in the Editor when making your own maps/missions? I have not really played about with the editor yet. It seems it was as simple as targeting it and pressing the action button, which i had tried, i have no idea why the UAV option did not show before, i had tried that but all i could do was swop between my pistol and rifle but now i have the UAV option.
  8. Ok let me start off and apologise if i am being really dense here, i have tried searching for a thread already made about this but cant seem to find one but it seems no one else has felt the need to ask this question so i am not sure why i am finding this so hard. I am doing a single player campaign, after the first couple of missions i am told i can use the UAV Terminal at the base, i managed to find it but i can not find anyway to use it. I have also been told i can use the UAV Terminal when doing the Manhatten mission, again i have found something that lists itself as a UAV Terminal but i can not figure out how to use it. I assume i should be able to eventually set-up a UAV and either fly it or be able to look at its camera footage. What i assume is the UAV Terminal is a trailer type structure, with a dish on top, when i press SPACE it comes up as "UAV Terminal". I cant find anyway to interact with it, when i press space there is an "interact" option at the top but its greyed out. I ahve never played ARMA 1 and i am new to ARMA 2, i have looked in the manual but can not find a guide on how to use these UAV Terminals during the single player campaign. Would someone be kind enough to write me a guide on how to start using the terminal and set up the UAV so i can utilise it?

How to i use a UAV Terminal?

yeah i am not sure what just changed, i was trying to use tha action menu (middle mouse button) but it was not coming up with UAV, after frantically clicking the thing for hours now i finally tried clicking around the ladder as one of the UAV Terminals in the first base had a useable ladder, when trying to see if this one at Manhatten is the same the UAV option magically appeared and now i cant stop it coming up, no matter now where i click on the UAV Terminal i now get the UAV option. Sorry i am not sure if i was just being dense or i was bugged until i clicked a little higher up on the UAV Terminal, when clicking the ladder instead of looking straight ahead i was looking up at the roof, when i clicked in this position the UAV option came out. The one in the first base to use the ladder you have to press the action button but i pretty sure that i did not receive a UAV option that time, maybe i could not see the wood for the trees. Man this has been bugging me for a while, i have no idea why all of a sudden an option to use it has now appeared. thanks for your reply.

    Arma 2 1.06 Patch Suggestions

fix multiplayer stuck at "receiving" bug fix Windows 7 64bit bug where game window closes, unable to open it again but game still running under Task Manager and consuming resources. i also agree with the AI pinpointing you even though its night and they dont have NVG, AI seems to be more related with Vicinity than anything, even when prone with vegatation behind me when i was pretty far from the Enemy NPC's they started to react to me anyway. Trying t be stealthy in this game just doesnt seem to work at the moment. also fixing Squad AI so they dont go charging into open ground when hey have access to cover would be nice. Also stopping them running into the middle of the enemy would be nice also. I had carefully set up an ambush, positioned my men back in strategic points but as soon as i allow them to go weapons live they all stand up from prone and go running into the enemys, giving away their position, advantage and making themselves easy targets.

    "Receiving" screen then nothing

i get this also under windows XP 32bit when playing multi-player, very frustrating.
  12. that benchmark is pretty misleading, for a portion of it the camera pans up to the sky which means less or no vegetation so the FPS shoots up but for the parts where its looking at the ground the FPS are really low. I got an average of 27 FPS on the first benchmark with everything maxed out, even view distance (well i guess that means that one of the quality settings gets turned to normal) and my monitor rez was 1920x1200 but i had the 3D rez on the max setting. Most of the time i had unplayable or what should be unplayable FPS but when it pans up to the sky i had a good period of time where the FPS was up around 60-70 FPS which made my overall FPS look better.

Why is this game not more popular?

The game got very poor reviews, lots of bugs only reason i picked it up was because i got it on sale for £8.00 I must say i am glad i did Only thing that bothers e is a bug under Windows 7 that causes the game to close (goes to desktop but ARMA 2 still running in task Manager and using resources but i can not get back into the game as the taskbar icon is gone), if they could find a solution to that i may start recommending this game to others.

    Arma 2 on windows 7

I would love to use Windows 7 to run ARMA 2 but simple fact is that it wont run correctly. Everything else does but i constantly get "Crash to Desktop" or rather just "Desktop" since there is no error associated with it, for whatever reason the game will just boot me to the desktop, ARMA 2 is still running under Task Manager but i am unable to get back into the game since its icon is no longer on the taskbar or in the ALT+TAB menu. This usually happens when i try and save but can happen when getting out of vehicles or just randomly. I have no idea whats causing it but if i look in the ARMA 2 log files there are a tonne of errors logged. Every other game works flawlessly under Windows 7 Professional 64bit, i have a modern system which is 100% stable both under OC and stock (i have tried both but it still happens). I could try lowering the quality settings to see if that helps but considering these settings work under XP and i only have access to SLI (2 GPU's) i dont see why i should have to lower settings under Windows 7 when i should have access to Quad SLI. Others are experiencing this issue under Windows 7 so i am hoping it gets fixed in a patch, until then i guess i am forced to play ARMA 2 under XP whilst every other game i can use Windows 7.

    1.4 to 1.5 = Desktop crash?

Are all the old patches included in the latest one? or do you need to install hem all separately? First time i installed ARMA 2 i just installed 1.05 which seemed to work fine, if i tried to install any earlier patches it just said 1.05 was newer. I have recently tried downloading them all and install them in order as part of troubleshooting. I am having a similar CTD but i dont get any errors, the game window just closes but the game is still utilizing resources and appears under Task Manager as running but i am not able to bring the game back up as its icon is not on the task bar nor does it appear in the ALT+TAB menu. I was wondering if possibly installing all the patches was the cause of it especially since others are having issues when "updating" from 1.04 to 1.05. when i look at the arma2.RPT file its full of errors but the game seems to play fine apart from these "CTD's" whic usually happen when i try and save. It has happened at random time shwilst playing the game also and someone else has the same problem, he thinks that it tends to happen when you have been playing for a few hours which may be correct as i have been trying to complete and save the same mission a few time and try to save at the same point which probabluy takes me roughly the same amount of time on each attempt.
  16. thanks for the reply Although it sucks that you are having this issue also its good as atleast i am not alone and it may be an issue with the latest game patch and the latest Nvidia drivers. I use the same install of ARMA2 under XP 32bit and this does not happen so it may be a specific issue with 64bit OS's or Windows 7 64bit (or possibly any version of Windows 7). Atleast f there are a few having this problem its likely to be looked at and hopefully fixed.
  17. what exactly do you mean "max detial"? what is "nice FPS" also? What OS are you using (32 or 64 bit version)? whats your resolution, your view distance and what do you have each thing set to under advanced in the Graphics Options? (just because you set very high on the overall section doesnt mean everything gets set to very high. Also what is your hard drive? I am running 2 Western Digital VelociRaptors in a RAID 0 for the game data and my OS is on an intel 80GB SSD Gen 2. there would be enough room to put ARMA 2 on the SSD but i have read that it really doenst make a difference in most instances. Also i did have poor performance no in FPS sense but in the sense that there was alot of lag waiting for textures to load etc, i fixed this by putting the game under "exclusions" list for my anti-virus, so now i am not getting poor performance but i am still noticing that increasing frequency seems to decrease GPU utilization so you end up with the same FPS. I am still interested to hear any tips on getting optimal performance though.
  18. Something i have noticed with ARMA 2 the higher you clock a card the lower the GPU is utilized. for example, i have 2 GTX 295's in Quad SLI, when clocked at stock 576/1242/999 the GPU utilization (which i can monitor with EVGA Precision) will go up to the 90% mark on all 4 GPU's. If i then overclock the cards to something like 648/1397/1188 the GPU utilization will only get up to around 70% and FPS remain relatively the same. Its asthough ARMA 2 has a performance cap in place which is odd because the FPS i am getting are by no means optimal yet not all the GPU horsepower is utilized. I am running a i7 965 @ 3.70GHz so i cant see that being a bottleneck.

    ArmA2 crash to desktop

I am getting what you could call a crash to desktop What happens is the game appears to close and i am on the desktop, i dont get any errors and when i check Windows Task Manager ARMA 2 is still running and using resources but the icon is no longer in my taskbar nor can i use ALT+TAB to locate it. Its happened twice at the same area in the game, the area you have to go to the cowshed and help a guy named Olgarich (something like that), hes part of NAPA? (sorry i should pay more attention), he and the other villagers are hold-up in the towns cow-shed and he radios for support (officer Many? back in the army base tells you that he may have information). The first time it happened i was getting out a truck and the second time it happened i was trying to get out a van. Any ideas what might be causing this? I am using Nvidia drivers 196.34 beta (they are the same as the WHQL 196.21 version but they fixed a bug that caused overclocking software to stop working). I have all the latest sound drivers, chipsets drivers etc. my specs are Intel i7 965 EE 3.20GHz @ 3.70GHz (verified stable) EVGA X58 Classified Motherboard (E759) 3x2GB Kingston HyperX DDR3 2000 8-8-8-24 @ DDR3 1600 7-7-7-18 (its rated for 6-7-6-18 at that DDR speed) 2x EVGA GTX 295 @ stock speeds Intel 80GB SSD Gen 2 (OS = Windows 7 Professional 64bit Retial) 2x 300GB VelociRaptors (RAID 0) (Games) 2x 1TB WD Caviare drivers (RAID 1) 1x 150GB Raptor (Misc drive, Page File) Anyone have any ideas whats causing this? Apart from that i finally have the game running so its playable at 1920x1200 rez (for both monitor and rendering), i have everything on very high except anti-aliasing which is on normal, i have anisotropic filtering on high, shadows high and i have VRAM on default. I have only changed settings via the in-game graphics options, i have not messed with changing the config files or anything like that. I was getting major stuttering, freezing, lag, slow loading of textures and just pretty poor performance in general but i fixed that by adding ARMA 2 to my list of exclusions for my Anti-Virus software, Kaspersky Internet Security 2010, this means ARMA 2 is no longer scanned, only network/internet access is scanned via the firewall.
  20. system specs Intel Core i7 965 EE 3.20GHz EVGA X58 Classified motherboard (E759) 3x2GB Kingston HyperX DDR3 2000 8-8-8-24 2x EVGA GTX 295 Thermaltake Toughpower 1500W PSU Intel 80GB Gen2 SSD (OS Windows 7 Professional 64bit) 2x VelociRaptor 300GB HD (RAID 0) (games) 2x WD Caviare Black 1TB HD (RAID 1) 1x Raptor 150GB I have the latest BIOS, latest drivers and all my other games run amazing. I have tried my hardware at stock, overclocked but the game in general just runs like crap in campaign mode. I can get decent FPS but its interrupted by slow loading textures etc, stuttering, lag, freezing. Its a shame to because i was really getting into this game but the extremely poor performance gets in the way, no matter how hard i try to ignore it. I have been looking at videos made by the dev team and i would like to know what type of system they used to get such good quality image but smooth FPS/footage/gameplay. EDIT OK i managed to get tid of most of the stuttering by putting ARMA 2 under my anti-virus exclusions list (Kaspersky Internet Security 2010). Also as someone else mentioned turning Video Memory tod efualt under the graphics options was a big help. The game is pretty smooth now, its not perfect but playable. I have the rez (both) set to 1920x1200 (my monitors max) and i have all the other options set to very high or high (shadow is about the only one on high along with anisotropic filtering) apart from anti-aliasing which is set to normal. Game looks great and i get between 30-60 FPS in game with an average around 35-45. When looking at EVGA Precision which lists GPU usage i am still only using a max of 75% of my 4 GPU's and most of the time that sits around 50% so there could be alot more SLI optimization one to this game.
