    64-bit Executables Feedback

Yea I tried 3 now, I'll try one more since ihave it and it's newer, thanks for the SWAG though it was worth a shot ;)

    64-bit Executables Feedback

I don't see anything definitive that says 32bit, x86, 64bit, or amd64... This doesn't happen in any other 64 bit applications/games... and I think, but am uncertain, that if the driver works in 64bit windows it's a 64bit driver

    64-bit Executables Feedback

Good question, I tried to look for that, but couldn't find it out... I tried 2 different mice, and the same effect... know anyway to find out which the driver's using?

    64-bit Executables Feedback

I got a weird issue... Arma 32bit works normally; however, if I launch 64bit, I get extreme mouse lag. if I move my mouse in circles, the FPS drops as low as 15FPS (from a constant 63FPS). When playing a single player campaign if I move the mouse erratically for 2-3 seconds, the character continues to move for 1-2 after I stop moving the mouse. I played with mouse smoothing and acceleration and vsync (normally I have them all completely off) nothing fixes it save reloading in 32 bit mode... Pity cause otherwise the game is running fantastically in 64bit
  5. My final goal is starting arma with "HIGH" CPU priority This used to work before more recent changes with the Launcher and new Battleye: start "ArmA3" /HIGH /D "M:\Arma 3" "M:\Arma 3\arma3.exe" -nolauncher -mod=@CavPack;@CUP_Terrains -nologs -exthreads=7 -enableHT -maxMem=4095 -noPause -noSplash -world=empty -malloc=tbb4malloc_bi Now, the above starts arma3 properly as High Priority, but I need to restart to start for battleye and after arma relaunches as Normal Priority Now I've figured out 2 ways to start Arma with BattlEye: "..\Arma 3\arma3battleye.exe" 2 1" "..\Arma 3\arma3launcher.exe" -useBE However, with the above 2 methods start the "BattlEye" and "Arma Launcher" programs respectively in high CPU priorty, then arma3 gets launched as normal priority... Is there a method/parameter via the arma3.exe to start with battleye on?
  6. 1LT.Wolf.F

    Start ArmA with Battleye

Sweet that works, well with a little change wmic process where name="arma3.exe" CALL setpriority "128" Where setpriority uses these option: idle: 64 below normal: 16384 normal: 32 above normal: 32768 high priority: 128 real time: 256
  7. Ghost-TF, YUP that sums it up PERFECTLY!!! ROFLOL
  8. You know Lying about brining ACE to ArmA3 is punishable by death... OMG I was so depressed at AGM and CSE "stopping dev" now there is hope again, you can't do this to old people like me.

It WAS ACE mod... what ever it was, it isn't anymore...

    Authentic Gameplay Modification

X39 I love you're comments and your mod, you took the words out of my mouth... Modding for money is the wrong attitude, since you can't really do that with arma in the first place... That soo many people love your mod should be the only motivation... I hope I never see a post like this with XMS2... I'm giving her my all to get it back in the 7Cav LOL if this is all trolling/April Fools stuff

    Arma 2 on Windows 8

Yoma I am on it for you (thank you for addon Tools, you've saved me soo much headache). I'll have to download it again, will take some time... For now make sure "Run as Admin" is checked, i.e a checkmark in a box, for all EXE's in %AppData%\... ...Some times, in a hurry I can miss the step or simply forget... To Dwarden, and the ArmA2 Devs, why is this an issue, you fellas have a Great track record for stuff like this... I handed you the workaround before Win8 release, please feel free to use it ;) no charge :P

    Arma 2 on Windows 8

I feel your pain, back in may-june-ish I was banging my head trying to get the DLC's working... I'm having weird problems with my SATA DVD Drive and old disks as well... Yea I definitely try not to use Steam for heavy modded games... Try Sproket / Store.bistudio.com they've always worked for me. Never been a problem and are just like a compressed exe which installs like a DVD. I was hoping devs/publishers would honour dead DVD's with a digital d/l in lieu of than a replacement disk. Good luck and good to hear you got it somewhat working thus far. PS the ArmA2 1.11 may be available as a separate download.

    Arma 2 on Windows 8

(Keep in mind I am still running Win 8 64bit Release Preview) This is the "Smart Screen" I was talking about: Click on More info and you should get a "run anyways" button. Definately Make sure you "run as administrator" as ArmA2 and OA write files to the "c:\user\..." folder and will need privileges... (most Win8 problems are fixed with this) After re-reading "Herbal Influence's" post I realize you installed ArmA2 but it won't run I read it differently before oops, however, the error you mention sounds more like the .exe files are corrupt or didn't copy right, but that's a guess... from ArmA experiences of yore...

    Arma 2 on Windows 8

I know the screen you are seeing, look around there is a hyperlink in the text, then you'll get "Run anyways" click that and it should work fine.
  15. I wonder if Bouldedash knows that has been available on steam @ 10% off retail for that ~2-3 months as a pre-order... http://store.steampowered.com/agecheck/app/65740/ Seconded "no sense", I like having all my games in one spot, but I prefer giving money directly to the Creators, not marketing...

    Arma 2 on Windows 8

FYI everyone... Good news the beta patch "ARMA2_OA_Build_94945.zip" fixes ALL Graphics Settings with "Windows 8 Release Preview 64 bit" with 4GB limit turned off!!! There was an issue right away tonnes of weird problems (like saving settings) but I deleted the "c:\users\username\My Documents\ArmA 2" folder completely and re ran arma2.exe and arma2oa.exe to regenerate the .cfg files and all is well... So, to sum up, all initial problems with win864bit and arma2oa are addressed and fixed as far as I can see... thank you BIS!!

    Arma 2 on Windows 8

OK I figured out BAF and PMC DLC installs on 64bit Win 8. It should be noted that the 4GB limit mentioned above is on and I am running Release Preview now (though both CP and RP had the same error). You must run the BAF or PMC setup file / Sprocket DLC thing. when / if you hit the error message "Runtime Error". 1. Open the Folder: C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp\BAF 2. for both files "setup.exe" and "ReactorActivate.exe" 3. Right click on each .exe and choose Properties then the Compatibility tab. 4. Check "Run this program as an Admin" Do the same for C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp\PMC
  18. Well I am running Win8 RP (64bit) and the same issues apply from this forum thread: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?131764-Arma-2-on-Windows-8 For 64 bit Win 8: ArmA 2 and OA (DVD Installs) will work if you limit the memory to 4 GB (msconfig) BAF and PMC Sprocket DLCs have the same issue (see link above)
  19. True, I should have added that to my DOSbox list, that was short-sighted. ;) As for the First Person Commander... I can't stop imagining Admiral Bosch from Freespace 2 at the helm, with that great dialogue, it seems utterly fitting for this game. See:

    Dilemma

I've dragging my ass and complaining about Digital Downloads for Years, my fear is that we'll be renting games, never owning copies. But thus far every Digital D/L from Steam and Bohemia have worked better than owning the DVD only heavily modded games have been a lil' quirky through steam... and as ArmA 1 and 1/2 of my older CDs and DVDs are scratched beyond repair, I gotta admit Online Access is far better than a DVD replacement shipping costs and time... UbiSoft is the only one that's given me any headache, but that's beyond this thread. The real beauty of Trial Betas is getting some input in the development process, even if completely ignored. A Read/Write culture so to speak... ...today, I just try to buy directly from the developers. Which means Downloads...
  21. Keep this discussion going, I've been thinking about coop since my first launch. I'm glad everyone's basically got better idea's than I do. I was thinking, primarily to extend the Telemetry area in single player, was if you have a commander for the Carrier and add a destroyer unit... for the coop players. This is probably going to far from the original, but a destroyer with 1-2 Quad Guns and a bay for Mantas or this "Spy UAV" from the manual.
  22. Initial Impressions: Wow!!! First things first, the Environment, Graphics, and Sound, are awesome if not perfect. I waited for the menu song to finish, watching the snow drop from tree's simple but nice effect. The weather, especially Thunderstorms are wonderful i love coming out of time warp into the storm. Manual: There is a little confusion in the "how to cap neutral islands" which I think would be fixed by adding to the manual the Map Icons for island buildings: say the Command Centre (down-arrow with Base line). I honestly thought I needed to build on the harbour building, then the Triangle Icon, then I tried all/each one I came across, until I scouted enough and found the Command Centre. (a forum user helped me out, ) In Game User Interface: 1st Person Control: Very nice, my only suggestion is the Mantes needs a mouse "free-look" or "Aiming Dead-zone" (akin to ArmA's) for Mantes, the turrets in the Carrier and Walruses cover this. There was Auto aim, which I haven't tested. Map Controls: It seems odd or frustrating that control (and visibility) of units is seemingly restricted to the inner most zoom levels (basically the zooms where the island map texture is drawn). Levels above this (when the island texture changes to the colour of the faction in control of the island) the walruses / mantes location/orders are not drawn. If there is to be no Fluid zoom, can there be at least a zoom level which covers a) Telemetry zoom where you can see the entire Telemetry circle AND the units inside without having to scroll/pan an zoom the map. b) Island Tactical (close an detailed) and Strategic (see the whole island and unit positions) Carrier Manual Speed Control resets to 0 or "all stop" when checking the map... Perhaps a "manual bearing & speed hold" so we can use the carrier tactically - i.e. engage at ranges beyond the enemy carrier's AA guns, or when skirting the island for jammer missions. I know you can set a way-point, but it's always followed @ full speed, great for intercepting, but fails for tactical control. Things to consider adding: I think we need a First Person Commander view from the bridge I think the telemetry circle should have an inner circle which denotes perfect visual range or the range where telemetry data starts getting fuzzy... a copy of the original? Licensing probably a bitch... I never played Carrier Command, back then I needed only Zarch, but I wish I played CC now... System Specs: Win8cp-64bit (sorry but FYI it's working perfectly) Q9550 2.8GHz on Asus P5Q 8GB DDR2 Dual-Chanel RAM AMD HD6850 (ASUS EAH6850 Direct Cu) X-FI Fatality - PCI sound card 2 x SSD SATA-II (one for windows, one for games)

    Arma 2 on Windows 8

Ok, update, #2 and #3, from last post, are indeed fixed by going to: "Start | Run | msconfig | Boot | Advanced | maxmory = 4096; reboot and play". No more problems with Vanilla, Beta, or Modded. you guys are right again, this is both a 32/64 bit addressing (sickboy) problem and the problem's amplified by the Driver's state (Dwarden)... So I'm waiting for a driver / patch? The BAF and PMC Installers are still not working, however, I noticed this on sprocket: "Did you receive missing 'msvcp71.dll' message while using the downloader? Then just download these two DLL files: MSVCP71.DLL and msvcr71.dll and place them in the same directory as your sprocket.exe downloader." on sprocket's site... I vaguely remember 7.1 is VC++2003 and/or .net 1.1 and I caught some late reading about mscvcp71 needs an SDK... There are understandably no Win 8 Support, but that is what I am doing :) testing win8 in a full-production environment, ...yes ArmA testing is included

    Arma 2 on Windows 8

Hey guys thanks for all the information, sorry the RL got in the way of testing. pardon me if I get some of the terminology wrong, I kinda do and kinda don't know what I am doing :) 1. Ok I've installed VC2005, 2008, 2010 (32bit and 64bit all 6) still nothing with PMC and BAF Install (same runtime error). Did these DLC's have tages protection or something, I do remember some problems there with win7-64bit, but it may have been another game. 2. The inability to choose above normal with in-game settings "video memory" and "texture detail" is that the same as the ">4GB texture problem" or something different? 3. This >4GB texture problem is the first time I have seen it on this PC (this is only happening with ACE mod as noted above). I do not think it has to do with the "-mod=" 'cause the beta needs that, no? Does ArmA2 have a software switch (ie -maxmem 2047) to test less than 8GB, or is it more physical addressing error? I think I have a way to disable this in my BIOS, I'll try that now. Edit: nope, just memory remapping... FYI I'm running: Win8cp 64bit q9550 CPU 8GB Ram HD6850 (AMD Catalyst Driver 8.93.7 RC10) sickboy - the updater runs and updates perfectly, thanks again
