  1. I liked the changes to Tipping Point's mortars: they still land close enough to force the player to keep on the move until he can find some overhead cover without regularly killing the whole squad (player included). It's a nice setpiece that works a lot better than it used to. Well done BI.
  2. Great to hear. Looking forward to how the sequence is going to play out.
  3. Thought as much. I would suggest that BI just uses scripted explosions or spawned mortar shells at fixed locations instead of handing a mortar to the AI: they are insanely good at leading, and even a close hit or two are more than enough to kill.
  4. Haven't had many issues so far: just a couple of triggers not firing properly that have already been mentioned earlier.
  5. I think a good solution would be to have up to 4-5 players total, with the host being able to play the game normally while the other players can "only" access the Mantas, Walruses and maybe the carrier's turrets.
  6. V-synch should definitely be disabled to improve the mouse response somewhat, but even then there's a lot of mouse acceleration.
  7. 210 kb/s :( Then again, my max d/l speed is usually around 250, so I'm used to this.
  8. I agree with pretty much all the points: 1) yeah, pretty much 2) I would class this as a lower priority, but it would be nice to have at least some way to swim properly 3) yeah, why this hasn't been fixed in so long is frankly baffling 4) I would love to see that. It would be so handy when placing units and objects while being able to see the changes in real time 6) yes, yes and even more YES! Movement in ArmA has always been clunky at best, hair-rippingly frustrating at worst. What's the point of havin maps with enterable buildings (which I love, btw) if you get stuck into everything.

    Combined Operations update

Now that BIS fixed the shotguns, any idea when they are going to make IR strobes visible in TI and improve the lasers in general? :p

    Grass, does it realy help?

Basically grass helps until the AI spots you: grassy areas do offer a certain % of camouflage, wich is checked against the AI spotting ability. Once the AI spots you, however, grass will only obstruct your vision without offering any benefit (unless the AI is pretty far away, since in that case as long as you are crawling around, it will tend to take a little while for it to re-acquire you). Thanks to the 1.05 patch, using mods like SAP Clutter and other will not give you a huge advantage against human opponents, thanks to the new grass layer: if someone is crawling in an area where there should be lots of grass, the character model will "sink" into the ground, thus making it easier to utilise stealth against humans, and mods like SAP Clutter DO NOT influence this; also deactivating grass completely will still leave the simulated grass layer effect on.

    Do flaps work?

Yes, flaps do affect the flight characteristics of the plane: just get in a plane, assume level flight with constant speed and try lowering/raising the flaps, and you will notice that the plane will tend to climb much more. Just remember that ArmA2's physics are pretty basic, in particular when dealing with fixed-wing aircrafts.

    Tank Commander

Another way is to select the Gunner in the command menu and order him to load a different ammo type. Assuming the gunner is soldier n°3 you select him by pressing F3, then you select "Actions" by pressing 6, and then you order him to load the appropriate ammo by selecting the appropriate option presented in the menu. For example, I have the M830 HEAT-MP loaded and I'm expecting to run into enemy armor, so I want to switch to SABOT: -I select the gunner (in this case n°2) by pressing F2 -I press 6 -since I want the SABOT, I press 2 The only problem with this system is that the game (and ACE) uses the military designation of every type of ammunition, which can be confusing when using Russian assets, since there are some ammunition type that only have the military code, with no HE/APFSDS/HEAT at the end.
  13. I have got mixed feelings about the campaign, mostly due to the typical sniper-like AI in some areas, what I think were some insta-death scripts somewhere else and the fact that... It wasn't bad and the plot twist was nice, with the ending being kinda depressing and funny at the same time due to the credits and the easter egg in the same. It did made me want to finish the Harver Red campaign, that I abandoned after facing that annoying insta-death script in Bitter Chill :d:
  14. Wow , we are already at the 23rd page in less than 4 hours. Then again, this is ACE 2 we are talking about! :D Thank you to all those that participated in the development of this mod and for releasing the public beta: I'll be sure to test this mod thorougly. Also:
  15. Hey everyone, after I downloaded and installed the 60890 build I tried to access the multiplayer server list, and my game crashed. I tried deactivating pretty much everything and yet, if I click the Multiplayer option in the main menu, the game crashes while loading the new screen. This did not happen in the previous build (60819) As I said, I turned off all mods and all programs but the problem persists. My Specs: CPU: Intel Core i7 920 Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 RAM: 3gb OS: Windows XP 32-bit w/Service Pack 3 ---------- Post added at 10:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:03 PM ---------- And build 60896 came out while I was posting this solving the issue (multiplayer screen works perfectly now) and making this thread useless. Sorry about the now unnecessary thread.
