  1. I feel that this tree issue is holding my performance down. In a grassy field in Chernarus on normal settings i get about 25fps which i can deal with but as soon as i approach or even look at trees my performance drops dramatically; down to 9fps once! I would be happy to provide some pics to show examples.
  2. Has there been any performance improvements for anyone? Or should I just stay on the previous beta because performance is my bane atm.
  3. Maybe just enjoy 1.05 and if you come across any problems note them and refer them to BI later (probs early next year). I hope 1.06 will be the performance patch though.
  4. @cartier90 Well looking at the original ARMA, the patches did increase performance but only after about a dozen and a year and a half later, but it did improve. I OC'ed my poor e2200 and while there was an increase in FPS it was fairly minimal and unless you do it properly i wouldn't recommend it, especially with an i7. If you know how to turn HT (Hyper Threading) off do it as there has been reports of increased performance when this is off. Read my post above for more ideas and try reading the related performance posts located in the ARMA 2->General section.
  5. OK here's a few tips from someone who runs pretty much everything on low/very low: 1. Turn AA off or keep it minimal: AA isn't well implemented and kills perfomance. You can do this via the .config file located in the Arma 2 folder located in "User" Documents (FSAA=0,1,2,3,4). 2. Try lowering HDR in the same way as AA in the config. 3. Add the line "scene_Complexity=40000/80000/120000;" (just one of the numbers at a time and without the speech marks) and experiment by lowering this number by 40,000 at a time. 4. Try lowering the texture setting as there is minimal difference between high and normal and experiment with lowering the terrain and object detail (hopefully will give you a big performance boost). 5. And lastly, if all else fails, lower the VD. Sure, it might not be fun or realistic when jets disappear 1km away or you can only snipe from 500m but this usually gives you some extra FPS. Anyway give these a try and I hope they help. Best wishes for the New Year :)
  6. How is the performance in 1450 compared to the previous build? 362 ran quite well and im hoping it will get better :)
  7. The day that i can get a decent FPS on normal settings will be a great day :). Is it possible that we can get any word from the developers as to what they are focusing on for the next beta? Great work with the chopper AI, it dramatically increases their lethality...
  8. 61012 for me was the worst performance I've had for a while with the betas since 60141. Because of this I couldn't really test the AI changes as I couldn't get playable FPS. I noted however that trees or heavily wooded areas affected the FPS more than usual, especially the generic pine trees. What is the latest beta's performance like?
  9. What is the performance like on the latest beta? Any good?
  10. I have just quickly tested beta 60803 and overall the performance is good; even on lower fps its run quite smoothly. However, I noticed a massively reduced fps when aiming and zooming into forests and towns. I would provide pictures but I'm not sure how :(. I think once the trees are fixed performance will be great and AI can be worked on.
  11. Though as much as I would like more/improved optimization with Arma 2, i cannot agree more with H3NRY. At about 700m or so, infantry's legs morph into the ground and sometimes most of their body at extreme distances and when prone they disappear. When prone in grass maybe the upper torso could be visible as the soldier is above the grass aiming and out of the grass layer. Just a suggestion.
  12. I was recently stuffing around on Utes flying helicopters and the like. Using the Blackhawk and on normal settings it ran fine. However, after i tried loading a BLUFOR inf squad into it (no problems there, they all got in fine and approached it in formation :)) I experienced MAJOR slowdown. I have also noticed this on the "Trial by Fire" scenario. Trying to fly around with the squad in cargo made my fps drop around 10-12 frames, around half of what i normally get. After they disembarked, the frames went up again. Has anyone else experienced this?
  13. Great improvement with 60091 around villages and whatnot; not so stuttery. On my mediocre rig however I was getting 20 fps on normal settings looking at a buildings and as I scroll to a nearby forest I lose almost 10 frames. I read a suggestion a while back about caching trees, a possibility perhaps? Keep up the great work though! :)
  14. Out of curiosity, what is being done to enhance performance in these latest betas? Reading through some of the posts here it seems that there are some improvements but it doesn't seem clear what the changes are. ARMA 2 craps on my comp; are there going to be any more optimization fixes before release?
