New Computer for Arma 3 (and ofc other games)
scorcher24 posted a topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
I couldn't play the game a lot because I am scraping the bottom of the barrel for FPS and MP is simply too much for my Computer. My current PC: FX4300 8GB RAM ASUS M5A78LMUSB3 SSD 512GB HDD AMD HD7850 Corsair 650WTX Bronze Plus My planned PC: Intel Skylake i5 6600K GIGABYTE Z170-GAMING K3-EU Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3000Mhz CL15 XMP 2.0 AMD RX480 Corsair CP-9020091-EU RMX Serie RM650X Arctic Freezer 13 Same SSD + HDD How do you think this will fare in Arma 3? Should I go for the 100€ more expensive i7 6700k instead? Will there be a lot of difference? I am trying to keep the cost low (although this is not really a budget build anymore), but if an i7 would be a significant improvement, I would be willing to spend it. Not playing any of the RPG Mods, just want to play some regular good old fashioned warfare.. if those servers even still exist or Altis Life has completely taken over. If anyone could give a good estimate, or has a similar build, I would appreciate some insight. -

Thanks for the reply. I am not gonna go NVIDIA, sorry, I don't want to support them, for various reason, but I also don't want to start a flame war over it. So let's just please leave it at that. Which Mainboard would you recommend instead that supports CrossFireX and M.2 SSD lanes? Just in case I ever get around to get a 2nd 480. -
Arma 3: Community wishes & ideas- NO DISCUSSION

German NATO Campaign. Seriously, we had Czech Army in Arma 2, we have Brits in 1,2,3. It is time for some germans :). Yeah, I know, every country wants some love, but Germany actually does NATO Missions. -
Games I would like to see from BIStudio :)

Take On : Tanks A detailed simulation of various tanks, among them the Leopard 2 (Germany), T72 (Russia), M3 Bradley and M1A2 (both USA). It should offer a campaign where you can take over command of a Tank Squad and lead them through various very tactical missions, requiring you to use the full spectrum of the abilities of a Tank like Thermal, TOW Missiles (M3), Main Cannon, Smoke, Coaxial Gun etc. You should be able to use the various computers inside a modern tank to find and destroy your targets. Arma is cool, but the Tank simulation is not detailed enough for me, sorry. But Arma is not a vehicular Simulator, so that is fine in that context. I played a game on the C64 that I loved and which is basically the reason why I want such a game :D. If I could chose from all of them, I'd want this one the most :D. Take On : Submarines Sounds a bit crazy maybe, but I'd love a new submarine Game :D. The player should be able to command a modern submarine and have all sorts of missions, from Nuke Launch to anti-sub missions. I hate WW2, so I'd rather see modern subs. I played Jane's 688(I) Hunter/Killer, Silent Hunter and Sub Command from EA, which featured original Sonar Training Software. And I loved them. Not so much Silent Hunter though, because of WW2. I am just sick of the setting. Arma - Naval Combat I'd also absolutely love a game about large scale naval operations where you command a squad of Destroyers and various Battleships to protect your Carrier and to sink the enemy fleet. Including deck guns, missiles and modern aircraft. You should be able to fire missiles yourself, but the focus should be on a large scale battle. Basically Arma on Sea. -
http://www.giss.nasa.gov/tools/mars24/download_win.html Download this from Nasa. It tells you the actual time on Mars. So if you wait for Night or Day and not having game time on, you can use this app.

For those playing with real time : Mars24
scorcher24 replied to scorcher24's topic in TAKE ON MARS - GENERAL
Haha, true. But the tool also shows me which part of Mars is dark at the moment. When later more regions will be made by people, this tool might come in handy because you can center it by longitude. So you can see if your region you wanna play is dark or not :D. I mean, it is like on Earth, Mars has time zones too. edit: And never has the CEO of a somewhat bigger gaming company replied to me. So, Kudos :D. -
It is releasing 1pm GMT. Central Europe is in Summer Time Mode, so we have 2 hours to go. I preordered it from the Website, but I didn't get a key yet.

Okay, here is some harsh criticism for you guys. Fact is, that Arma 3 will require Steam, no matter where you buy it. I personally, I am game with that, since I am a Steam fanboy and I mostly only buy games that are on Steam. What I hate though, is games that require Steam and then don't utilize it. So here are some points I don't like. 1.) Anti Cheat Why use BattleEye ( I don't know any other game that uses it btw ) when you can use VAC? On Steam VAC is well known and a great tool for server admins. It is not meant to kick cheaters, it is meant to track them and then get rid of them in ban waves, which has obviously advantages such as hack authors not being able to adapt to new methods of detection quickly. It also does not require cd keys which can be stolen and then misused like it happened with DayZ in the past. A well administrated server is always better than one where the admins don't care about, so it does not make a difference on that end, but a VAC Warning Message is displayed publicly on your profile if you get banned and that is a good thing. But I guess it is too late for that now. 2.) Coop Why do you guys not utilize the Steam Friends and Server Network to make Coop happen? The friends invite feature is such a useful one, I don't get it why you guys decided to go the complicated route where I have to search my friends match via the server browser. And then it is hosted locally anyway. So please, add this. It is really important to many Steam users. Don't believe me? Fine, run a survey or whatever, but please add it. How it is now: Chat with friend about playing Arma 3 -> Opening a game -> Telling friend the name of the server -> Friend searches the server -> joins or does not find it and you gotta explain how to find it for 10 minutes. How it should be: Chat with friend about playing Arma 3 -> Opening a game -> Click invite -> Friend clicks the invite and is in the game, ready to play. Does that make sense? 3.) Workshop This is more a suggestion for later, but please do integrate Workshop for missions and mods, it makes it much easier to download than to crawl through all those fansites or forums and suffer their advertising and signup requirements just to get a user made mission or mod. 4.) Achievements Like it or not, Steam Achievements are a selling point on Steam. So please do integrate them. Not judging on this part though, too early to complain about it :). I am pretty sure they will be in there on release. Just mentioning it. This are my concerns regarding a release on Steam and I hope some of it gets heard.

Please use the full spectrum of Steam

Well then delete it if it annoys people when other people would like to voice their opinion. -

The intent of a more or less public Alpha and Beta is to gain Feedback - so what am I doing wrong? -
Please use the full spectrum of Steam
scorcher24 replied to scorcher24's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
I don't know why you guys discuss about achievements so much, it is not really that important. I was just a mentioning it. I think 1,2 and 3 are far more important. Especially 2. -
MMX, SSE, and SSE2 Support exists in MSVC since Visual Studio 2005.

Please use the full spectrum of Steam
scorcher24 replied to scorcher24's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
Well done achievments add to the game and are fun to do. It is a challenge though. But whether you like it or not, they are a selling point. Deal with it. -
Please use the full spectrum of Steam
scorcher24 replied to scorcher24's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
Then I personally won't bother with those mods. Sounds harsh, but thats how it is. I won't install SixUpdater ever again. BI needs to ease up the mod installation and automate it and all is set. And btw, people said this about Skyrim too, now look at the Workshop :). @Achievements If they are well done they can add to a game. That is all I say about it. -
Please use the full spectrum of Steam
scorcher24 replied to scorcher24's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
Sorry, but that is not true. A lot of people get banned every wave and there is no such thing as bypassing VAC, even though some programs do claim they can. -
Actually the Microsoft Compiler is the best one on Windows and I fail to see how the intel one makes it better. Does it some super awesome optimization we don't know about? Please do elaborate, as a hobby C++ Programmer that uses the VC++ I am certainly interested :).

After the Manta Scene and the Walrus chasing, I am supposed to go over that bridge and stop Shin. Does not work. I can't get on the bridge since it is blocking me and when I glitched over, there is no ability to tear the shields down.

Getting to Shin

I have blown up the stuff that is on the side of the bridge. Still no way to get there... http://i.imgur.com/gvmqm.jpg There would be a path, but I can't get over the small ledge there... because you cannot jump -.-. Left side is blocked by indestructible containers: http://i.imgur.com/tndgx.jpg Oh and you cannot get back when you go to the left side, there is another ledge blocking you from getting back: http://i.imgur.com/yTh6C.jpg Oh and thanks to the moderator for moving it to the dead part of the forum where nobody checks...-.- -

AI Pathfinding Suggestions to help the Devs fix the problems (Constructive please)
scorcher24 replied to Suranis's topic in CARRIER COMMAND: GAEA MISSION - GENERAL
Assist Function: If the player is controlling the leading vehicle, he could lose some breadcrumbs that the AI just follows, that get deleted once all Walrus got past it. Dunno if that is viable though. -
Broken Steam Achievements for Carrier Command
scorcher24 posted a topic in CARRIER COMMAND: GAEA MISSION - GENERAL
Those below do work, but you cannot get them in the campaign. Since there was no tag [strategic only], I thought they are broken. In the campaign, those achievements are definately broken: Revenge Is Sweet Lean Mean Green Machine Face Off Titanic Almost nobody has them on the global overview and did not unlock. http://astats.astats.nl//astats/Steam_Game_Info.php?AppID=65740 -

Beta Access for Steam?
scorcher24 replied to scorcher24's topic in CARRIER COMMAND: GAEA MISSION - P&C BETA
For the patch betas? I am pretty sure they will come :). Sorry for not being clear enough. They do the same scheme with Arma, but we don't get those on Steam.
