  1. I think it was because of the helo... MD 500. However, IIRC, the helo's real model name is "MD 520N", so we're 20 meters off... could still be in Eyeplay's office though.
  2. Seconded. I would love to see a new DLC too, but a new Expansion (preferably THIS year) would rule.

    Ordering your AI to walk?

If this is in the editor, set their waypoint's speed to "Limited".

    Isla Del Fuego

Just had a quick fly-over/drive-over, and I must say, a very good looking island. I like the caldera, pretty unique sight :) Great work. Good framerate too.

Dwarden, a question if you would be so kind: Is the behavior of the mouse cursor in Danger mode (i.e. "Engage" command when pointing at an empty spot) intentional? I was about to file it as a ticket in the CIT, but it might be intended behavior. Thanks :)
  6. I still do not get the connection between the Helo and Seattle. Neither Hughes nor MD Helicopters are located anywhere near Seattle (they're in California and Arizona). I don't see how the chopper relates to Seattle, and how the whole thing relates to ArmA

    Want camo face?

Exactly. I use the "John Wicks" head from Schnapsdrossel's original mercs, but that only works on server that have that addon. And some heads even grow hair when you apply the camo.
  8. Spoiler for the PMC campaign, don't read if you haven't finished it yet:
  9. True, but it makes for a mediocre at best end result. I am not necessarily saying he is to blame for it, I do blame Codemasters for trying to rip off Flashpoint fans with the name.
  10. I saw this one too, and I am a bit confused by Mr. Lenton's statement there. They did the original Dragon Rising as a military simulation. I can see only two reasons why they did that. 1) Cannibalize the name "Operation Flashpoint" to lure as many people as possible into buying a game that was, according to their own definition, inherently "not fun". 2) They thought they were creating a good game. Now, #2 can't be it. They have stated that they don't like Milsim's at all and that they are not fun to play. Yet they created one (Dragon Rising), and in spite of failing in every possible way (except maybe the sound which was quite good) that is what Dragon Rising claimed to be, a military simulation ("as close to war as you will ever want to get" or something similar was their advertisement). Which leads me to the conclusion that they never played their own game (which is not fun, as we heard). The alternative explanation of course is that now that they failed to produce a military simulation that was worthy of the name, they are now retroactively covering up their mistakes by basically stating that Dragon Rising wasn't the game they wanted to make, which in my book is an admission that it was crap. But all of that is coming from a lowly PC player. We all know that the PC market is not were the money is. Can only say again, thank you BIS :)
  11. Alright, go ahead and assemble a list of games that actually have 200+ square kilometer of terrain accessible in each and every mission, at a level of detail that makes it look good from an altitude of 300-400 meters as well as with your nose in the dirt. You'll find that the list will be rather short.

http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=11685 I use this to pick faces for Identities. ArmA needs more baldies btw :)

ARMA 2: OA beta build 79122

I'll see if I can come up with a repro mission for this (just found this issue and it's night here), but I just played the PMC campaign mission "Termination" with this beta patch, and ran into a problem: Asano has a revolver. There's two NTA camps, I was attacking the one to the south when Ry-man switched his M8 Sharpshooter for the revolver. After that, he would no longer move. He was kneeling there, and no command could convince him to move. I reloaded, and got the same problem. I reloaded again and had him put down the revolver, and after that he would no longer get stuck. I'll post the CIT report tomorrow.
  14. I had something similar once, I used a launcher (dunno which one, Spirited Machine I think) and said to launch "Arma 2 CO", which included ArmA 2 and Operation Arrowhead, but ArmA 2 was already in the extension list so I got it twice, including campaigns and single player missions.

ARMA 2: OA beta build 78927

I've played quite a bit with this new beta, and my impression is that most anim speeds are okay. The running is a bit too fast, as is sprinting. My major gripe is launchers. They handle like a piece of Styrofoam, and reloading them is way too fast, and always has been. Dragon Rising was quoted before, and while I don't need the "put-on-the-floor-to-assemble" anim (as good as it looks), I think that reloading a launcher should take that long. My real-life experience with AT launchers is limited to the Carl Gustaf/MAAWS, but I know that they handle very different and reloading them takes a lot longer than in the game.
  16. Works like a charm. Thank you to both of you :)
  17. Hi. I have a weird problem with a mission I am trying to make. I have a team with backpacks, and in the unit's init line I fill their backpacks with a default loadout. When I start the game, I can see that loadout since I am running the server, but any client that connects gets an empty backpack, both for himself as well as for AI units. What am I doing wrong?
  18. Hmm, I'll try that... I thought that if I scripted it it doesn't show up in the briefing screen, but now that you mention it I might have done that in the past... Thanks :)
  19. I am not sure whether this would be a good move or not. I have a good number of Steam games, and I generally think Steam works very well, with very responsive customer support and mostly hassle-free DRM (some games still choose to use GFWL or other DRM on top of it). However, there are a number of downsides of Steam: They haven't figured out how to let you install games on different disks. Granted, you can copy and link the games back into the SteamApps directory, but this is counter-intuitive, and I frequently run into disk space issues because all has to go on one disk. Games bought on Steam cannot be re-sold by their owner. This is not an issue with any ArmA games since they will have to pry them from my cold dead hands, but it is a general issue. You have to run games through their interface. It becomes a hassle to set up a shortcut or use a launcher, which IMO is very important for a game like ArmA. I hate their pricing policy. This might or might not be an issue with steam, but when I see a game cost, say, USD 30 or EUR 30, I cannot help but feel ripped off. I suppose this is a matter of the individual game, though. Activation lockout. I am not sure how it generally works, but some games prevent you to unlock and play an international version in Germany. I hate German dubbed versions of games, and I always try to get the international version if at all possible. Steam successfully prevents this on occasion. Like I said, I am not sure about such a move.
  20. ARGH :) I don't suppose you're ready to give a hint as to what it is? *nudge nudge* ---------- Post added at 00:29 ---------- Previous post was at 00:25 ---------- I don't really understand why people seem to hate Harvest Red so much. I actually found it quite enjoyable, more so because of the large open missions. I didn't really like Badlands/Dogs of War too much for their Warfare mode, but all others were good.. As for PMC, I thought the campaign was quite good (I didn't finish it yet because I am stuck in one place) and I liked the extra single player missions that came in the PMC 1.01 patch (Especially the hostage rescue). And finally, it's only 8 Euros.
  21. To be honest, I would be happy if I could throw a bit more money at BIS, meaning I'd like them to continue with releasing DLC, or another expansion. I wish there was some hint that they're working on something. And yeah, I am trying to provoke a reply from Dwarden (or anyone fro BIS) :icon_redface:
  22. Hi. I am getting a bit lost with a campaign I am trying to do. The campaign has a lot of shared resources - mostly my own functions, identities, some sounds, textures etc. So far I have just duplicated them all in every mission folder, but this is getting annoyingly hard to maintain. I thought about an SVN repository to keep them in sync, but it all boils down to the fact that these resources should not be duplicated at all. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work to just #include "..\Lingor_Common\functions\functions.hpp" in my description.ext in a mission, even though the path is correct ArmA 2 will CTD with a "file not found" preprocessor error. I am at a loss really. How can I have a set of missions share a set of resources without having to duplicate them, or having to copy the missions into the campaign during development? Thanks.
  23. Thanks, that might come in handy :) I am using my own CfgFunctions, and use 'file=' in the description.ext to point out the absolute locations within my campaign structure, so that works for now. Since I also use snippets for CfgIdentities from a "global" repository this way too, I went with that approach (absolute reference within the campaign folder).
  24. Good point, might have worked as well. I now made a directory for the (future) campaign and reference the files as \campaign\<my campaign name>\<filename>, that seems to work fine :)

No, the CTD's seem to be gone. Haven't had so much time to play but usually, I crashed after a few minutes of playing and now it runs for hours.
