    Flight dynamics (important issues)

If your using an Nvidia card you need to change your render ahead setting in your profile. This setting directly impacts controller lag. Try 0 instead of 3.
  2. I get the same problem occasionally. All you need to do is open the creative audio control pannel and switch it from DDL to something else then back again and it will fix it. Just alt tab out and do it quick . A pain in the butt but it works for me.
  3. I had the same bug before except I was dead and my team couldn't revive me because my body was invisible and they couldnt interact with me or revive. Only happend to me one time though.
  4. Putting everything on low will actually hurt your performance in this game. The settings can be tricky and it is not the same result as in other games. A big one is the VIdeo memory setting. You should either be using very high or "default". The "Default" setting uses the detected amount of video ram , the other setting to my understanding force it to use a certain amount. So on the low setting your hurting performance....Things like this are very confusing because the advanced settings have very vague descriptions. Spend some time and check it out for yourself there are a few benchmarks that will give you relative performance of the game.

    MP Issues

I get this exact same error and so does a friend of mine...tried everything to fix it.....Are you by chance using the Steam version of the game?

    STEAM troubleshooting

My game updated to 1.03 automatically. I've tried reinstalling/deleting cache and verifying but I keep getting 2 annoying errors that won't go away. They are also happening to a friend of mine who purchased this game on Steam. 1) in Razor 2 mission at the beginning where ther is supposed to be talking when the screen is black I get a "Sound Counter not found" error. Other people on steam are getting this too but there is no fix and CD people don't seem to have this problem?? 2) EVERY time I join a multiplayer game I get a error: No entry 'bin\config.bin/RscDisplayMultiplayerSetup/controls/CA_B_West.sideToggle' Nothing came up when I searched that one but my friend also gets that exact error.
  7. Wow...setting the video memory back to default fixed all the problems I was having with my GTX295...slow texture loads and slow fps.....the only setting I hadn't tried lol....
  8. The biggest problem I had that was killing my performance was caused by myself. After a bunch of reading I found this little gem that fixed the graphics loading slow issue. It was caused by me setting the "Video memory" to high or very high...turns out for a 295 if you use these your actually using less of your video memory. I turned it back to "default" which is using the exact amount of video ram on your card and my FPS jumped back up to 40's instead of 20's and the slow loading textures problem also vanished. Also as a test I tried setting the video memory to low....this also killed my framerates and the problems came back. Turning settings higher in this game doesn't work the same as it does in evey other game out there. On that same note people telling you to turn your settings down especially on a performance system can screw you up too.

    Blank Textures - GTX 285

for steam you have to open steam and right clcik the game under your game list and pick properties>set launch options. THis box is where you put your command line switches....
  10. ASUS used a different fan control chip than the refrence board so ntune wont work to change fan speed. I had one of those cards and the only way you can control the fan is with ASUS smartdoctor...for smartdoctor to work though you also need to install a second driver called GamerOSD...smartdoc wont work without it. Both available at asus website. Note: this is in addition to the nvidia refrence driver, the nvidia driver on their website is the same as what you can get from nvidia and asus doesnt update theirs every version so I always use the newest from nvidia. Do it in this order: 1) Install Nvidia driver-reboot 2) Install gamerosd-reboot 3) Install SMartDoc
  11. I get a lot less of that with higher view distances...especially with sniping. Only tradeoff is a FPS hit...
  12. Just curious , has everyone thats having problems updated vista to at least SP1? If not you might want to think about it...

    Fed up of Morons

Most public servers don't have an admin on most of the times I play...I desperately wish BIS would implement some GUI functionality of players being able to vote kick people... I know there are chat commands on some servers wher you can #vote kick asdfdsafsdf but most people are unaware of the commands and they are not well documented. It's getting sickening logging on to every pub server to see everything wrecked and blown up at the main base. The game should also have auto kick functionality implemented so that if they destroy too many friendly assets/buildings/players etc they are booted and locked out. This is a great game but I am still dissapointed with the total lack of players being able to self police or automatic moderating when an admin isn't on.

    Poor performance...

People keep thinking this game is CPU limited but neither my graphics or CPU hit 100% usage overclocking doesn't seem to help a bit. Theres some other issue at play here that is out of our hands until they can fix this...I'm about burnt out on fussing with settings/drivers etc. Guess I'll just have to live with 22FPS until they can patch. My "guess" is that it is more of a memory issue (2gb limit etc)
  15. I've got an X6800@ 3.2ghz 4GB ram and a GTX 295 and never get over 25 FPS even if I set everything to low and the lowest resolution. Theres something wrong with the game and no amount of changing settings or drivers will fix it. Sli enhancement patch etc etc...nothing seems to work. If I turn everything to low and look up into an empty sky.....the FPS remains the same. I agree his CPU is a bit slow but he should be able to get better than 16 FPS.

    New Monitor broke graphics?

What happens if you drop your resolution back down?

    3D surround sound

DirectSound is dead for gaming since Vista came out unless your soundcard has a program like Alchemy(for Creative cards) but pretty much no new games are made using Directsound3D anymore because MS gutted it to keep people from copying music... Anyways, I have a Fatality XF-I with the Doldby Digital Live pack. I set it for external decoding Dolby digital/DTS out. I have the Encoder set to use DTS connect and send it to a reciever that decodes it via a optical output. 3D sound is excellent and it "moves" with my TrackIR. I'm using Vista 64.
  18. As stupid as this will sound you will be amazed.....go in and turn your max view distance to 10,000......yes you heard me max it......don't do anything else just max it and trust me.... I own a GTX 295 and have been very dissapointed in the game performance on this card. Other 200 series also seem to be affected by this. I played with settings trying endless combinations but there was always a "stutter" while the game appeared to load textures and loaded them very slowly so bad you can see t painting them on the screen in Arma II mark. Long story short... I talked a friend of mine into buying the game...he has never played OFP / ARMA etc...He also owns a GTX 295....the first thing he did was went in and maxed every setting in the advanced options at 1920x1200. He was bragging to me how good his gameplay was and how smooth it was and how good it looked. I called BS on him...after all ...I fought with settings for days with very little differnce. Tonight he came over and told me how bad it looked on my machine at the same rez etc. To appease him I turned all my settings to max....including the only setting I had't touched due to "knowing" from previous BI games....max view distance.. I never went over 3k assuming it would be a slide show. I ran ArmA2 mark...my score jumped from 1650 to over 2000 the stuttering was gone and it did look amazing....I couldn't believe it...after playing around some more we determined for some reason 10k on the view distance makes the game run faster and smoother with this card( possibly all 200 series or maybee all Nvidia??) Lowering it from 10k and down to 5k and the problems come back. Both of us were using 190.38 drivers on Vista x64. I have the EVGA enhancement patch but he doesn't. Don't understand why... it seems to contradict itself but would like to see if it works for anyone else...post feedback here.
  19. I ran it at 1920 x 1200 (native rez of my monitor) ---------- Post added at 02:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:48 PM ---------- It does on some of the tests but not sure if it does on all. ---------- Post added at 02:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:49 PM ---------- I realise this...at 10k the highest setting is "normal" the thing is If I leave my view distance at 3000 and set terrain to "normal" manually it does not have the same effect. ---------- Post added at 02:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:52 PM ---------- My friend and I both have SSD's too....the thing is on our systems we almost never get over 25-30 FPS at lower view distances and the lower view distances cause stuttering as things come into view and the textures pop onto the screen...
  20. This works somewhat but I loose my AA setting in the graphics options and I get a new error message at startup that is looking for a splash screen that is missing.
  21. I have a core 2 X6800 , hes got a core 2 quad like an E8500 or something ---------- Post added at 12:38 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:30 AM ---------- Maybee a few people can try it on different cards and see how it works for them...my guess is its something to do with the way the game loads textures. With the 10k setting it is loading everything into the video cards memory initially instead of piece by piece with a low view distance. Theres also a setting for "Video memory usage" but this doesnt seem to do much maxed or on the lowest setting. For example: previously if I quickly spun around 180 degrees there would be a micro stutter and you could see textures still loading...at 10k I spin....no lag or stutters. The framerate is smoothed out...about 27FPS instead of the 17FPS I was previously getting....
