Flight dynamics (important issues)

If your using an Nvidia card you need to change your render ahead setting in your profile. This setting directly impacts controller lag. Try 0 instead of 3. -
ArmA 2 Ingame: Sound Issues with Dolby Digital Live encoding
Slain replied to Ackart's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I get the same problem occasionally. All you need to do is open the creative audio control pannel and switch it from DDL to something else then back again and it will fix it. Just alt tab out and do it quick . A pain in the butt but it works for me. -
Is this the strangest A2 problem ever?
Slain replied to -ami- mofo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I had the same bug before except I was dead and my team couldn't revive me because my body was invisible and they couldnt interact with me or revive. Only happend to me one time though. -

MacPro massive improvement since 58926
Slain replied to rtb's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Putting everything on low will actually hurt your performance in this game. The settings can be tricky and it is not the same result as in other games. A big one is the VIdeo memory setting. You should either be using very high or "default". The "Default" setting uses the detected amount of video ram , the other setting to my understanding force it to use a certain amount. So on the low setting your hurting performance....Things like this are very confusing because the advanced settings have very vague descriptions. Spend some time and check it out for yourself there are a few benchmarks that will give you relative performance of the game. -
I get this exact same error and so does a friend of mine...tried everything to fix it.....Are you by chance using the Steam version of the game?
-
My game updated to 1.03 automatically. I've tried reinstalling/deleting cache and verifying but I keep getting 2 annoying errors that won't go away. They are also happening to a friend of mine who purchased this game on Steam. 1) in Razor 2 mission at the beginning where ther is supposed to be talking when the screen is black I get a "Sound Counter not found" error. Other people on steam are getting this too but there is no fix and CD people don't seem to have this problem?? 2) EVERY time I join a multiplayer game I get a error: No entry 'bin\config.bin/RscDisplayMultiplayerSetup/controls/CA_B_West.sideToggle' Nothing came up when I searched that one but my friend also gets that exact error.

Video memory, very high or default?
Slain replied to LOulOo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Wow...setting the video memory back to default fixed all the problems I was having with my GTX295...slow texture loads and slow fps.....the only setting I hadn't tried lol.... -
ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues
Slain replied to R3fl3x's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
The biggest problem I had that was killing my performance was caused by myself. After a bunch of reading I found this little gem that fixed the graphics loading slow issue. It was caused by me setting the "Video memory" to high or very high...turns out for a 295 if you use these your actually using less of your video memory. I turned it back to "default" which is using the exact amount of video ram on your card and my FPS jumped back up to 40's instead of 20's and the slow loading textures problem also vanished. Also as a test I tried setting the video memory to low....this also killed my framerates and the problems came back. Turning settings higher in this game doesn't work the same as it does in evey other game out there. On that same note people telling you to turn your settings down especially on a performance system can screw you up too. -
for steam you have to open steam and right clcik the game under your game list and pick properties>set launch options. THis box is where you put your command line switches....

NVIDIA video card(s) owners read here!
Slain replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
ASUS used a different fan control chip than the refrence board so ntune wont work to change fan speed. I had one of those cards and the only way you can control the fan is with ASUS smartdoctor...for smartdoctor to work though you also need to install a second driver called GamerOSD...smartdoc wont work without it. Both available at asus website. Note: this is in addition to the nvidia refrence driver, the nvidia driver on their website is the same as what you can get from nvidia and asus doesnt update theirs every version so I always use the newest from nvidia. Do it in this order: 1) Install Nvidia driver-reboot 2) Install gamerosd-reboot 3) Install SMartDoc -
Frame rate issues & texture glitching
Slain replied to xsdmx's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I get a lot less of that with higher view distances...especially with sniping. Only tradeoff is a FPS hit... -
Static and extreme LOW framerate, no solution found in formus
Slain replied to pZonaKo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Just curious , has everyone thats having problems updated vista to at least SP1? If not you might want to think about it... -
Most public servers don't have an admin on most of the times I play...I desperately wish BIS would implement some GUI functionality of players being able to vote kick people... I know there are chat commands on some servers wher you can #vote kick asdfdsafsdf but most people are unaware of the commands and they are not well documented. It's getting sickening logging on to every pub server to see everything wrecked and blown up at the main base. The game should also have auto kick functionality implemented so that if they destroy too many friendly assets/buildings/players etc they are booted and locked out. This is a great game but I am still dissapointed with the total lack of players being able to self police or automatic moderating when an admin isn't on.

People keep thinking this game is CPU limited but neither my graphics or CPU hit 100% usage overclocking doesn't seem to help a bit. Theres some other issue at play here that is out of our hands until they can fix this...I'm about burnt out on fussing with settings/drivers etc. Guess I'll just have to live with 22FPS until they can patch. My "guess" is that it is more of a memory issue (2gb limit etc)
