How are we able to find out a players ID, for example your own and is there any way to change this number?
-
Even after patch 1.03 and numerous changes to the graphics settings in ARMA II I havent been able to make my BSOD go away. It didnt for awhile with 1.02 but its back now with a vengence. The BSOD I get is your typical "You have encountered a problem, windows needs to shut - if you have installed anything recently please uninstall or contact Admin". The error codes are like 00000FFFF000000D%353 or some shit. Does anybody have any clue how to fix this problem or has anyone had this same issue? Specs: Dual core Athlon X2 6400+ (3.21 ghz) 4 GB Ram nVidia 8800GT Windows Vista x64 SP2 p.s. Running with most settings to Normal now, even though FPS isnt an issue. Also windowed mode.

I tried reverting to the save in Razor 2 before I failed the mission and I discovered that you cant go to old saves from other missions. Infact, I guess the only way to "resume" from saves is to revert the entire campaign back to the mission in question. Can someone explain to me if this is the case or am I missing some option in the menu.

My Razor 2 mission (with map), need opinions
CrazyAviator posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
Well I finally finished the damn thing, but Im not real happy with the outcome, here's why... (yea this is a long read and dont proceed if you dont want spoilers) Map: http://i28.tinypic.com/jqrz9c.jpg I was sick of having to go up and talk to that Ocheglic-whatever guy in Staroye, which I had done all previous attempts so this time after talking to the Marine Officer and CDR Lieutenant in Elektrozavodsk (1), I went straight to the Power Plant (2), then followed the coast up in a HMV to Solnichniy and questioned the locals (3). Found the Quarry (4) (this was my first time with this part). Unfortunately I found it to be horribly bugged. I saved my game here and interesting things happend, first load it said "looks like no one is here" - we shot the 2 soldiers on the outskirts and left back to base. Second time ( I had to reload because one of my team walked into the blades on Starforce 21, ending the mission with decapitation) it said "theres three of them" but still only found the 2 soldiers, guarding nothing. Is something supposed to happen here and the triggers broken? Anyway, this time we got back to base (5) and I used the UAV to scout Novy Sobor, which has an AA tank sitting in it- low and behold I was successful in disabling it with ground pounding hellfires (missle lock is broken). I helo'd my team in just south of Novy (6) and swept the town (7). I saw a friendly APC in the NW distance (8) and tried to run toward it but it vanished, so we worked our way into the neighboring, very much occupied, Stary Sobor. There was a T-72 sitting in the town Kelly's Heros style (9), so I decided to try to flank it. We approached the town from the hill with trees on it (just to the east) and had a pretty good fire fight with an enemy squad of soliders running out from the town. We crawled our way into the town, in an attempt to pick up an AT rocket and disable the tank, when we got the 20 minute call to capture the objective before he gets to Gorka. We started running back to the venom, which I had placed strategically on the hill behind us waiting just incase- when Scarlet got shot in the back from somebody. In one of the cooler moments Ive had with ARMA, it felt like a real evacuation, as the T-72 came alive and started launching shells our way. Tree's were falling, bullets wizzing, snap! POP! I told #2 and #3 to get to the chopper and they ran away dogging debris. I dragged Scarlet to some cover (10), did the first aid thing, and we humped to the venom just in time. So here's what happens, after mounting SF21 (11), I order it to a LZ just south of Gorka by the road which leads into town. As we are landing, I see a red sedan hauling ass up the road (12) and as crew chief I unload at 4000 RPM, sending the car up in flames. I see 1 guy in a blue shirt (Im guessing Bordka or whatever), running away toward Gorka, and since we hadnt landed yet I shot at him through the trees. The mission ended immidiately with a "Victory, but you killed him" message. It said the other guy (primary objective) had escaped. Okay so here's my questions: 1: What is supposed to be at the Quarry? 2: How can we find "evidence of warcrimes"? 3: Where did you guys find Obj #1 (sorry I cant remember his name) 4: Where did you guys find Obj #2? (the guy I found outside of Gorka) 5: Why does this mission end so fast after the 20 minute warning? (#2 was at Gorka within 5 minutes after I got that message) 6: How do you capture the Objectives if their just going to run away? 7: Is there any way to capture a tank? (I found an empty allied APC stuck in the woods (13) by the castle one time with its crew laying around dead) 8: How did you guys put the UAV to work? Were you able to locate ANYONE with it? All I could find were enemy tanks... 9: What is the Mi-8 helicopter that I see flying around? Mostly it crashes into the forrest southeast of Tulga (14) - is there a purpose for this? Thanks for having the patience to read through all this, it took me awhile to write it so please give some cool advice, I'd like to reload this mission and actually capture these guys. -
UPDATE: I installed my new GTX275 about 3 days ago and have been playing ARMA 2 on High settings with ZERO problems. WOOOOHOOOO

I saw this video This guy seems to really like it and it caught my eye right away. My concern is how well does it configure itself to ARMA? If its like anything else so far its bound to be bugged. So for those of you who use it do you like it? Are there any particulars which make it unusable or unstable. Does it really prove to be effective when running around on foot.

I don't feel like just "get used to it". The game needs to work properlly for the system I have. Besides I've already tried your settings, still BSOD. You guys need to starting reading this thread a little more. I think you'd see something other than your occassional CTD is going on. Maybe not I don't know. Tell you one thing, when I rebuild my pc in a year or whatever it won't be for arma 2 i certainly won't chance new hardware on it either.

ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead discussion thread

Im not too excited about an expansion for a game I cant even get to work -
Gawd, if I get my new video card and ARMA2 still bluescreens Im going to fucking flip out. Your story is very sad Cashxx, the only other thing I can think about would be faulty bio's or something with the mother board that ARMA2 doesnt like. p.s. do you have a soundcard?

wtf are you on about

UAV Will we ever get one that works like this?
CrazyAviator replied to Dangerdog's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
People who try too hard, it makes us laugh. I actually know a couple pilots who fly UAV's now, it looks kind of cool and its good pay but I would get incredibly bored. -
Actually I think the grenades work alright, although there is deffinately room for a tutorial ingame. It was never covered in basic training, why? As I know the large circle shows were the grenade will arc and the small dot shows where it will land. Or am I mistaken?

NVidia Graphics card and Arma 2
CrazyAviator replied to combat-agent's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
What did best buy make you pay for that stuff? Last night I ordered a new video card and powersupply (GTX275 and 750 watt Corsair) for $350 before rebates also comes with new batman game free. Sorry to break the OP's heart but your stats arent that great. Not sure your saying they are but for a few more dollars you could've gotten a GTX275 from newegg - hell of alot more card. Also I wouldnt listen to Bestbuy, infact I would say do the opposite of what they say. That being said here are my spec's AMD 6400+ BE CPU 3.21 Ghz (DualCore) 4GB Corsair Ram nVidia 8800GT 550 watt PS 465GB harddrive Now here's the kicker, I bluescreen out of ARMA to the point that its unplayable. Newest nVidia drivers and good frame rates. Crash to death. I hope the new GTX card makes the difference because I only get this problem in ARMA 2 and Im not tearing my system apart for 1 game. EDIT Here are some prices from new egg compared to bestbuys website. Its pretty obvious which is the better deal. Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130475 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130434 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814143183 Bestbuy: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9271539&st=GTS250&lp=3&type=product&cp=1&id=1218072680869 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9293542&st=GTX275&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1218076081264 Another word of advice, BFG seems to be equal or higher priced in some areas compared to EVGA. Im not sure why but I would lean toward EVGA, the customer reviews are promissing and Ive had a BFG card blow out on me. -
Have you ever had this happen with trucks? I know the military URAL (covered with camo) is like this. My CPU chugs whenever Im next to it for some reason. Have you ever had more than 1 vehicle explode at the same time?

I updated Audigy soundcard driver, now ARMA2 BSOD's!?! Crash crash crash
CrazyAviator replied to zeep's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Interestingly enough I got a funny sound file error message when trying to update my nVidia drivers to 190.38 - It happens everytime, in and out of safemode. I dont know if it matters but I'm BSODing all the time in ARMA2. I have no soundboard, only use a headset. -
Can't lock Hellfire in UAV in 1.03
CrazyAviator replied to Kramxel's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I have never gotten the UAV lock to work. Not in 1.02, not in 1.03 never. -
it's unplayable on my notebook
CrazyAviator replied to Tex-Twil's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
While your 9600GT might be a good notebook card, its still a notebook (mobile) card. Our cyberpower notebook is pretty fast and came with a 9600GT but I wouldnt expect it to run games like ARMA 2. Its just not made for it. -
Saw this late, your pattern of BSOD sounds very familiar to mine. I too notice the game runs better on some days and then seems almost unplayable others. I tried shutting all my "extra" programs down just to see if it had an affect and I didnt notice any. I think that some of the problem is depending on whats going on the video card stresses out differently. You play DOT CLR right? Your name looks familiar and thats the only thing I ever do with ARMA anymore. I know that if I'm around alot of other players and lots of stuff is moving I'm more likely to crash. I also notice the more "objects" around me the more likely the crash, even if the temperatures dont reflect an increase. Today for example, I turned my PC on with the floor fan running, start teamspeak, start xfire, start ARMA2. Played CLR for about 2 hours and then crash. Restart, tried again, 10 minutes crash. Big difference in time spent in the game. So what made my game crash after 2 hours the first time and 10 minutes the second time? Nothing I was doing was different. This also makes me think its not a memory leak like some others have suggested. I am truely baffeled by my BSOD/Crash, but running my 8800GT consistantly at such a high temp has probably sacraficed its stability. I dont think its going to be fair to judge exactly whats causing the crash anymore. I went to newegg tonight and a GTX275 + 750watt power supply is on the way... I will report back when I have them installed
-
Well im pissed. The Bluescreens are back, except their not even blue screens, just a crash to a blank black screen. I have to hard reset to get the computer to restart. Im going to order a new video card from newegg tonight (GTX 275). Maybe this will take care of the problem.

NO MORE BSOD!!!!!! :D Okay I hope this isnt a jynx but I've been running for the last couple days with zero BSOD and I think it really was because of a overheating. I know the minidump file that I got said something about a Driver failure but I bet anything that it was failing because the temperature was getting so freaking hot. Today I tried setting my video settings up and the temp went DOWN! :butbut: Apparently the rumor that the game runs cleaner with higher settings is true. I've found this to be very true when it comes to the terrain and shadow detail levels Here's how Im running right now Windowed mode ON Visibility (2000) Texture Detail (High) Video Memory (Normal) Anisotropic filtering (Normal) Antialiasing (Normal) Terrain Detail (High) Object Detail (High) Shadow Detail (High) Postprocess (High) Interface Size (Normal) With these settings and a floor fan going full blast on the side of the case, I'm seeing the temperatures only reach mid 80's, MAYBE 90 if theres alot of sheeet going on. Mind you this is multiplayer mode (Chenarus Life)

Thinking of upgrading my video card (GTX 275)
CrazyAviator posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Does anyone have an nVidia GTX 275 or know how it runs ARMA 2? The price on newegg is down to $220 for this card and its got outstanding reviews. It comes with 896MB- I'm not sure if this is going to be bad for a game like ARMA. The price jump to something with more video memory is steep though. Heres all the specs # Chipset Manufacturer: NVIDIA # Core Clock: 633MHz # Stream Processors: 240 Processor Cores # Memory Clock: 2268MHz # DirectX: DirectX 10 # OpenGL: OpenGL 3.0 # DVI: 2 # TV-Out: HDTV Out # Model #: 896-P3-1170-AR # Item #: N82E16814130475 -
Thinking of upgrading my video card (GTX 275)
CrazyAviator replied to CrazyAviator's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Actually Im not upgrading my card because I have to, but because I want to. Im running a 8800GT with a 3.21 GHz CPU (dual core) and although this may be less than some of you the game runs very good. Now that i figured out the BSOD was coming from an overheat, Im hoping that a new video card might be able to run cooler. I could see where a new video card, such as the GTX275 might run cooler in my Tall Tower (Coolermaster Cosmos). I hear its got big beefy fans on it and its why alot of people with small to med towers are having trouble with the fit. My 52 pound Cosmos would probably take it like a champ -
Well on a hunch I decided to download a temperature program (called SpeedFan). Cool little program that appears to work well. It automatically detects temps based on stock OEM sensors and somehow the speedfan can adjust the fans in your case to try to keep the temp as low as possible. Anyway, when I loaded up speedfan it gave me warnings right away. Apparently my GPU was running at 80 degrees C. Thats almost 180 F  That was after getting a BSOD and sitting in windows desktop! Wow, so I decided to stick a floor fan on the side of the case and im down to almost 60 degrees C now. I'm guessing this is still a little on the hot side but I hope it stays cool ingame. Im going to try again.

What?

Yes Im beginning to agree with you that its a hardware issue, but created BY Arma 2. I downloaded the debugger and followed the instructions - this is what I got when I loaded my most recent minidump (from tonight, just before reinstalling the video drivers again).
